  1. Just listening to The Walk on the live set and it does sound a little bit like it I guess - would never have noticed without it being pointed out though
  2. I usually do terribly in Pointless too when I enter. Unless you find a loophole it always feels a bit too much like blind luck.
  3. Not offended in the slightest Steve, don’t worry… I can see why you asked, it’s probably commonly believed that it was born in the late 90s. Top 10 singles wise, it’s possibly Children that was the earliest one - but that’s very much off the top of my head and I could well be wrong. Café Del Mar is another good example, although it didn’t chart until later years it was originally from 1993
  4. It's a knife when you're finally on top 'cause logically the next step is they wanna see you fall-fall-fall
  5. It's absolutely not the start of trance... trance had been around for ages by this point, see Jam and Spoon in the early 90s for example
  6. I'm really struggling to see why this has taken off so well - it's not awful or anything but it's just kinda standard to me
  7. Save a Prayer  Duran Duran were absolutely great during the Rio era
  8. I really like the Donna Lewis song, it's lovely and was very different to everything else at the time. Clearly some inspiration from Cyndi Lauper too which was nice to hear.
  9. I use Discogs because it then tells you the value of it too, as well as it being a community platform and marketplace I also like that you can click for it to select a random album, good for those days when you’re not sure what you want to listen to as it regularly suggests something I’ve not listened to in ages
  10. Pyramid Song - and by some distance
  11. My gut feel is Aeroche again too
  12. Oh that's a disappointing winner from my perspective, but I see I gave it the fewest points out of anyone so I guess I would think that. It's still a good single and a deserved hit, but there's many more ahead of it for me. It's particularly awwww for me as they're absolutely not a band that peaked on their first hit. Blue Savannah is a brilliant song, I love the sweeping piano lines and the drive behind the percussion. Plus it's just such an unusual song, both in terms of lyrics and structure that it really stands out. The singles from Wild were really good, I remember being a little disappointed when the rest of the album wasn't really as strong. Thanks for running this Gezza, it's been lovely reflecting back on their singles
  13. Oh yay! I hoped I’d got them all when I submitted but wasn’t 100% certain, really pleased to be joint with our Jim! Thank you for hosting (again!) mango, it was another good quiz 👍
  14. I went too low for the percentage! I honestly thought more people would be thrown by the Weeknd one and put All Fired Up or This Girl is on Fi-yaaaaaa
  15. The black eyed peas one was a very disturbing image. I was very confused why they were in jeans and why the left one had no arm… and why one has a normal face but the other has a horror movie face
  16. Considering they are one of my favourite acts of all time, it took me forever to get the Chemical Brothers!
  17. Looking forward to these results Mango... there's definitely 2 or 3 that I could have put a wrong answer for
  18. Vinyl still is the plural, I think it's just that people get it wrong these days. Plus there are a heck of a lot of people who are utterly useless when it comes to spelling and grammar and it makes sense to them to just add the 's' to the end when there are more than one. I work in an environment where you would expect a good level of grammatical skill but it never ceases to amaze me how rare it is to find someone who doesn't need their work proof reading before it goes out. It amuses me how wound up some older people get about it though.
  19. Fingers crossed for Blue Savannah now that my favourite is out... I know it's an obvious choice for a 30 pointer but there is a very good reason why it has become their best seller over time.
  20. I've also looked through the list on Joseph's spreadsheet and I think we have (about) 147 in common! Not sure if that's more or less than I expected :D
  21. Not in the slightest... I do play my records but don't even have a CD player any longer. Although I do have a drive I can attach to my laptop if I ever want to rip anything. From gooddelta's list, these are the ones we have in common: Ace Of Base-Always Have, Always Will Alanis Morissette-Hands Clean Alice Deejay-Back In My Life Ann Lee-2 Times ATB-9pm (Till I Come) ATC-Around The World (La La La La La) Basement Jaxx-Rendez-Vu BBE-Flash Black Box Recorder-The Facts Of Life Bomfunk Mc’s-Freestyler Christina Aguilera-Genie In A Bottle Daft Punk-One More Time DB Boulevard-Point Of View Delerium Feat Sarah McLachlan-Silence DJ Jean-The Launch DJ Jurgen Presents Alice Deejay-Better Off Alone DJ Quicksilver-Belissima Eiffel 65-Blue (Da Ba Dee) (Import) Eiffel 65-Move Your Body Fragma-Toca’s Miracle Ian Van Dahl-Castles In The Sky Jakatta-American Dream Jx-There’s Nothing I Won’t Do Kylie Minogue-Can’t Get You Out Of My Head Kylie Minogue-Love At First Sight Kylie Minogue-Some Kind Of Bliss Kylie Minogue-Spinning Around Mariah Carey-Open Arms N-Trance-Set You Free Paul Van Dyk Feat Saint Etienne-Tell Me Why (The Riddle) Paul Van Dyk-Another Way/Avenue Rank 1-Airwave Robyn With Kleerup-With Every Heartbeat Robyn-Handle Me Safri Duo-Played-A-Live (The Bogo Song) Shapeshifters-Lola’s Theme Snap! I did have some of yours on 12" or as paid for downloads but I haven't counted them.
  22. Do you have a list of them? I’d be intrigued. Considering we both own a lot of stuff, I have a gut feel we may not actually have that much crossover.
  23. I think Hear'Say fell off quicker than that. I'd say about the time it took from someone buying the album to someone listening to it.
