  1. Did we spot that Pitchfork readers have voted BRAT as the best album of the 2020s so far? How I'm Feeling Now was 18th and Crash 88th. In the singles list she has the following: 80 - 365 35 - Forever 08 - 360 07 - Von Dutch 03 - The girl so confusing version with lorde
  2. I don't think it's unfair as such. Assuming the songs are typically those that are released at the end of the year so sales are split over two, then arguably those tracks already have an advantage first time around as their placing in the year end is lower than their true popularity from the time and thus they probably already ended up against a less successful batch of songs that they would have done. Having said that, fairness either way is probably not the thing that should influence the choice - it's more a case of what people would rather see in the next batch. Personally I'm not a fan of the same songs popping up again when they've already been included and typically I tend to try and vote them out. But obviously others may not agree and enjoy seeing them compete again - so if the majority like having them in then absolutely fair enough.
  3. All This Time Still Falling Out Of Love is good so a bit sad to see that drop out so soon. I'm not sure I've ever listened to the Nightbird album in full but I do like all of the singles from it. The others are all lower down in my rank, although Hey Now (Think I Got a Feeling) is kinda catchy and a bit better than I remembered it being from the time.
  4. Yeah I’m assuming that pretty much everyone will have votes that are mainly from one semi or the other, the semis (or at least the qualifiers) really were quite polar. It won’t surprise anyone to know that SF2 more closely aligned to my tastes but there were 3 in particular from SF1 that placed in my top tier points - one in particular surprised me by how much I enjoyed it

Yes thank you for running the rate ^_^ These were my top 10… I was broadly in line with the results really 25 Paint It Black (by FAR my favourite of theirs) 24 Sympathy for the Devil 23 She’s a Rainbow 22 Ruby Tuesday 21 Start Me Up 20 Let’s Spend the Night Together 19 (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction 18 Angie 17 Gimme Shelter 16 Wild Horses
  6. I'm 50/50 on Say Hello Wave Goodbye if I'm honest. I do like it, but his vocals definitely prevent me from loving it. He sounds a bit out of tune in places to me.

Oh! No worries - these things happen... and these new results are much better! :D

Awwww I was obviously hoping Paint It Black would win. It's so far ahead of the others as my #1 that I can't quite comprehend how someone wouldn't have voted for it.
  9. I was having a look back through my library and these are all genuine favourites of mine that were released in 2005: Sufjan Stevens - Illinois sometimes I think this is the best album ever made Antony & the Johnsons - I am a Bird Now Patrick Wolf - Wind in the Wires Aimee Mann - The Forgotten Arm Ladytron - Witching Hour Robyn - Robyn Bloc Party - Silent Alarm Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning / Digital Ash in a Digital Urn Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor Susumu Yokota - Symbol Malcolm Middleton - Into the Woods All of the above are wonderful, and to be honest there were many more as well
  10. Ah that does make a lot of sense, I was forgetting in this age of streaming that all things weren't quite as equal back then
  11. Wow, I would never have expected Say Hello Wave Goodbye to register a week easily over 100,000 sales. Same goes for Maid of Orleans :o (I appreciate the longer 'week' but even so I'm surprised)
  12. Yes it was suspiciously like the length of time it would take to google!
  13. I actually heard this today and am I the only one who thought that the guy was cheating? I mean who goes from knowing no songs immediately in the 3 in 10 round to suddenly getting three in quick succession?!!! I was glad he didn’t win
  14. @Electroboy probably just an oversight in the list but RFC nominated Yeah Yeah Yeahs already (or I'd definitely have nommed it myself)

Wow did you really not know it before the Susan Boyle cover? :o My gut feel is that Susan Boyle's version won't have had too much impact on many buzzjack voters
  16. God their artwork was awful on later albums. It just all looks so cheap and poorly designed, very far removed from the likes of I Say I Say I Say or Chorus.
  17. There are some absolutely fantastic songs in this list, I think this is going to be difficult. Although I'm sure I'll have no trouble culling the final three in the list :kink:
  18. It was a close run thing for Kraftwerk then. Was going to say that they almost didn't top the chart, but I guess equally they almost could have been there for 2 weeks so far.

Oh that's the first one to fall that I really liked, although 15th isn't too bad a result for it
  20. That's really bad. I was actually considering going to that gig on my own as I didn't know anyone who wanted to see them with me but I'm glad I didn't get round to it now :/
  21. Happy with 101-200 but I’d like to see us skip bigger songs that are repeats in the same way Rich suggested for the other idea
  22. I'm reasonably surprised that there weren't more nil pointers to be honest. It will be quite interesting to see what their highest rated songs are from this century. Also - I'm disappointed to see the song I ranked last didn't finish on zero, it really is awful imo
  23. It's okay - I knew it wouldn't be!
  24. 2022: Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) :kink: Rina Sawayama - Frankenstein Florence + the Machine - Free Let's Eat Grandma - Happy New Year Jamie xx - Kill Dem
