  1. Yeah Passenger could be big here, agreed, in fact it looks like it could be #1 in Ireland next week :yahoo: Melodifestivalen seems quite wide open this year judging by their itunes, Bed On Fire sounds so dramatic that it could actually be a good entry. I don't think it'll win though :( Oh I do hope you're right about Icona Pop, I don't get why they aren't supporting it? I mean its even beginning to catch on in America now. I hate getting obsessed with songs sometimes  I guess it could get support once its out as well.

Duke Dumont feat A*M*E - Need U (100%) (NEW) (CR-67) - I am loving this, I think this is a future UK #1.
  4. Great for Justin though I reckon it'll fall off #1 on itunes soon. Could Pompeii exceed people's expectations though, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if it went top 3. Great to see there's lots of movement ATM. Poor Gabrielle though, hopefully it'll climb quickly again. I'm loving Icona Pop but I worry it won't do anything as it doesn't seem to be supported anywhere yet (Radio 1 seems to be ignoring it so far surprisingly). Has anyone seen it on TV (i.e like the Box?).
  5. Still not been added by Radio 1 this week, appears like they may snub it. Odd as I honestly thought they'd get right behind it (especially being a fairly big Worldwide hit). Of course it still could get added next week or even once its actually out. Would be a big shame if this isn't big, its even taking off in Ireland where its getting good airplay! It appears on the TV rolling chart (#61) so its obviously getting TV exposure though I haven't seen it yet myself.

I just hope that Icona Pop gets playlisted, got my fingers crossed. If it gets ignored I will be quite surprised as I thought it would be right up their street.
  7. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I'll be incredibly surprised (and annoyed) if they ignore Icona Pop. I think they will add it at some point, even if its straight to B list on release week!
  8. Glad it finally has a release date, I do hope this is big and it gets Radio 1 playlisted. The song is already #4 on Irish itunes which is always a good sign!
  9. This is gonna be HUGE, there's no doubt about it. Its been big in Australia, #3 and now 4 times platinium. Its also done well in several European countries like Germany and Austria where it got to #3. This is easily going top 5 here, I'd even dare say its a #1 contender if given the right exposure (some may argue it hasn't gone to #1 elsewhere but neither had songs like Titanium and that was a HUGE #1 here). Interestingly its already getting airplay in Ireland and is top 40 there on airplay which is always a good indication. I reckon it'll be released mid-late March / early April.
  10. Zooms from #10 to #2 this week :o Quite surprising really, nowhere near peaking on airplay there either. I think #2 will be its peak there though. Its also #1 on NZ's itunes too (though Pink is #1 combined)
  11. It may fall but equally I could see it hanging around, its very catchy IMO and I could see it catching on. I think its always helps with the OA/OS strategy if it has a ready made video which this does.
  12. Itunes is now saying Avicii - I could be the one is now out 10th February (so basically moved forward a week).
  13. Agreed, I think its gonna be a fairly easy #1 for her. Its a good song, will get radio support and I can see her doing promo too.
  14. I personally can't see them NOT releasing it, like you say, its been a big worldwide hit, especially in Australia and now Germany. I can see it getting an April/May release but I'd be very surprised if it doesnt go top 3/5 at least here.
  15. Hi Hits, hope your well ,here are a few comments :yahoo: TOP 10 01 (--) Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX - I Love It (01) [1 wk] - Oh I LOVE this, so glad this is #1 for you. I am beginning to feel confident this is gonna be HUGE when its released, especially after its success in Austalia. 02 (--) Passenger - Let Her Go (02) [1 wk] - Agree with Goodelta, another song I am loving right now but feel Radio 1 won't get behind it so won't be as big as it should :( 03 (01) Lindstrøm - Vōs-Sākō-Rv (Petit Edit) (01-01-03) [3 wks] - Quite like this on first listen 06 (04) Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko - Stay (03-03-04-06) [4 wks] 12 (10) Imagine Dragons - Radioactive (28-26-15-10-07-07-10-12) [8 wks] - I still prefer It's Time to this one. 13 (15) David Guetta feat. Taped Rai - Just One Last Time (15-15-15-13) [4 wks] 14 (17) Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble. Jay Z - Suit & Tie (26) [1 wk] - Alright but its not as amazing as I hoped it would be 28 (28) Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me (08-08-04-02-01-02-05-06-10-20-28-28) [12 wks] 30 (24) PSY - Gangnam Style (강남스타일) (01-01-01-02-02-04-05-05-08-12-12-13-20-25-21-27-24-30) [18 wks] 31 (22) Delta Goodrem - Hunters And The Wolves (17-13-13-09-14-22-31) [7 wks] 33 (25) Little Mix - DNA (01-01-03-03-06-05-13-19-25-33) [10 wks] 34 (26) Olly Murs feat. BUBBLING UNDER 01 (04) Bingo Players feat. Far East Movement - Get Up (Rattle) -#1 here? Its not gonna be a #1 for you is it? 02 (03) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz - Thrift Shop - I STILL LOVE this, I do hope this reaches #1 for you, especially as its been on the bubbling under chart for ages. Have you heard their next one 'Same Love', thats now #1 in Australia too! 03 (06) Little Mix - Change Your Life 05 (--) Avicii Vs Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One 06 (05) Calvin Harris feat. Tinie Tempah - Drinking From The Bottle 07 (07) Amelia Lily - Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You Got) 09 (--) Flo Rida - Let It Roll
  16. I think its just a case that C'Mon let me ride simply doesn't have an impact/release date yet, it'll be massive when it does get released. To be fair it hasn't been a hit anywhere yet (not even in the US). I'd be shocked it doesn't do anything though (especially with Eminem involved). I can see Thrift Shop or something blowing up we don't know about yet and stopping Gabrielle to be honest. Its certainly the quietest January I can remember for a while too.
  17. I'm still surprised that more labels don't take advantage at this time of year. There's several big/future international hits that could have been big contenders in January. I am also surprised that Thrift Shop doesn't have a impact date yet. They appear that they won't be out until Feb/March time. I've heard Beyonce has got a song out though I think Gaga is out in the spring? Also, doesnt Nicole Scherzinger have a new song out in the next week or so?

I think it could be the former as I can see Radio 1 supporting it. Its taken months but its finally taking off in Australia going 46-x-48-41-36-38-32-33-31-24-18-15-8-6-7- and its now #4 on itunes there so I can definitely being big here too.

I am quite surprised how lacking the schedule is through January at the moment. I am positive there will be songs that come out that will be big but I wouldn't say any scream #1 as such. It will be interesting to see when songs like Thrift Shop and C'mon Let Me Ride are out? Surprised they aren't out or have impact dates in January at the moment. I can see Let Her Go being big as well as Icona Pop (I Love It) which is shooting up the Aussie charts at the moment. I can see Imagine Dragons next single (It's Time) being big but again, doubt it will happen until Feb/March time.

I enjoyed the show overall but I do miss the old days of the Christmas TOTP where they actually counted down the Xmas chart and also the chart of the year (late 90s to early 00s). Back then they literally played all the big hits of the year. I remember 99 had Cliff Richard, Britney, Eiffel 65, Alice Deejay, Lou Bega, S Club 7, ATB, TLC, Ricky Martin, Shania Twain, Boyzone etc. I guess its harder to get acts for a one off (before it was axed I guess TOTPs would have been in most acts diaries etc). Still nice to see TOTP again though I can't see BBC1 ever bringing it back full time.
  21. Hi Hits How have you been? I haven't posted in here for a while. I am looking forward to your year end chart already :yahoo: Hope you have a great Christmas, now for some comments/songs I like: 02 (02) James Arthur - Impossible (02-02) [2 wks] - Surprisingly love this, think its in the top 2 winner singles (along with Alexandra's) 03 (03) Pink - Try (09-08-05-01-03-03) [6 wks] 05 (06) Little Mix - DNA (01-01-03-03-06-05) [6 wks] - Still shocked this wasn't bigger, also like their next single as well. 06 (05) Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me (08-08-04-02-01-02-05-06) [8 wks] - Love this, think she could be really big next year. 10 (15) Imagine Dragons - Radioactive (28-26-15-10) [4 wks] - Really liking this band, their next single (It's Time) its gonna be a HUGE UK hit IMO.11-40 12 (07) Gabrielle Aplin - The Power Of Love (04-02-04-07-12) [5 wks] 13 (13) Delta Goodrem - Hunters And The Wolves (17-13-13) [3 wks] 14 (08) Olly Murs feat. (38-34) [2 wks] - What a shame you don't like this much :( 37 (32) Swedish House Mafia feat. Britney Spears - Scream & Shout (40-40) [2 wks] - Again, shame this isn't bigger for you, its a big grower IMO. Future Hits 04 (10) Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko - Stay 05 (--) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz - Thrift Shop - LOVE LOVE this, can't wait for this to explode next year. 09 (--) Passenger - Let Her Go - Another song I can see doing big things here in the New Year, beautiful song. Did Icona Pop ever chart for you? I think I Love it could be another massive song next year (Macklemore/Passenger/Icona Pop are three songs I'm obsessed with ATM) :w00t: Great chart as normal :)

I'm not sure My Life will but the other two certainly could. I actually think quite a few of those in Hits list could be potential big hits/#1s if given the right promo though I'd imagine Gabrielle/Imagine Dragons will help their albums more but you never know. Will.I.Am/Britney is now out next week so probably won't be #1 now though it'll probably hang around in the New Year. Hits - I agree with most of your list but I very much doubt Samantha will get a release here since its a X Factor winners single and can't see it doing anything outside Australia/NZ (though I'd LOVE it to).
  23. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
There seems to be quite alot of potential big hits (and possible #1s) but the only song I'm sure that will be #1 is Thrift Shop IMO. I have thought of another song though Vato Gonzalez vs Lethal Bizzle & Donae'O - Not A Saint. I actually think this could reach #1 in early January. The official video has only been on youtube for 2 weeks and has almost 3 million views already :o I'll sound like a broken record but I am still surprised no label has released I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li (Remix). From its massive success in Europe (including being #2 in Ireland only 2 months ago) it seems an obvious hit IMO, especially as I could see Radio 1 backing it. Its not even available on itunes so you never know. Its annoying when big European hits aren't given the chance here. On a side note, I am thoroughly glad this thread was started, I've discovered quite a few songs from it. :w00t:
  24. LOVE this song, really hope it crosses over internationally but we all know it won't. I think it would stand a better chance if it wasn't for X Factor though. Australian TV ratings are weird though I think?. 2 million is great but those ratings are only from the big capital cities. For some reason they don't include the small towns/rural areas (almost like they don't matter) as far as I know. I've never understood why. The Voice final had something like 2.5million in the cities but overall it was reported well over 3M watched it in total.

As soon as I saw this thread I thought of Thrift Shop. Its surely gonna be January's big #1 hit. Not sure there's much else really (though thats obviously hard to say at this point). I do wonder why Lykke Li I Follow Rivers was never given a chance here, its was massive in Europe and given got to #2 in Ireland the other month but its probably too late for that now. As soon as I heard Battle Scars by Guy Sebastian I thought that could be big, its already the second best selling single in Australia by an Ozzie (behind Gotye) and I do hope it gets a push next year. Could MSK (old Sugababes) be big next year as well? (though thats not something we've heard yet)
