The new releases have just jumped up DJ Fresh #12 Emeli #35

Gotye is an odd one, it climbs quite quickly during the day and then begins to fall back during the evening. I'd imagine it will pull away again tomorrow and on Friday to get a decent lead but it will be tight. Completely agree with the weekend effect comment. Even if Gotye does get a good lead, it will fall back quite quickly during Saturday (like last week) which will probably make the difference. Next week I'm almost certain DJ Fresh will be #1, it will be very front loaded but I can't see it NOT getting to #1. Had Emeli Sande not had her album out next week then it would put up a big challenge but her album will go to #1 anyway. Gotye's main chance will be the week after next (unless a Brits performance is big enough).

It probably shouldn't be but its always happened throughout time (especially with CD singles). I am actually surprised they have kept it 59p actually as they are #1 now anyway.

Just seen Titanium is 59p on Amazon as well so it looks like it will be #1 for a second week at this rate.

Both Will.I.Am and Gotye are gaining quite quickly. Gotye was on 0.72 at 11am but is now 0.80 at 1pm. I think its going to be depend how front loaded Will.I.Am is and if Titanium goes back up to 99p (even if it doesnt, I can still see Gotye potentially overtaking it by mid week).

I know, I was half expecting it to be #1 now, but it wouldn't surprise me if it reaches #1 tomorrow (doubt it will be today now). I can't see it getting much of a lead though ATM. I fully expect Titanium to hold up well next week (I wonder when he will go back up to 99p?) and I can honestly see Gotye gaining again from tomorrow (seems to fall quite a bit over the weekend). I wouldn't say Will.I.am is guaranteed just yet.

Too true, Gotye got very close on Friday to Titanium but the weekend effect has meant it has fallen back. I have no doubt by mid week it will be close to or already have overtaken Titanium (especially if it goes back to 99p). I'd love Next to Me to be #1 next week but it'll easily be DJ Fresh (who will be incredibly front loaded but won't do a Twilight). As Emeli Sande's album is out the same week alot of the sales will go to the Album IMO. Like someone said, Gotye's best chance to be #1 will be the week after next. The only things standing in the way will be Gym Class Heroes (which will go top 5 but can't see #1 ATM), DJ Fresh second week, or some sort of Brits effect (ala Dizzee/Florence, Adele, though looking at the potential performers I'm not convinced any of them will the power this year but who knows).

Ahh well looks like it'll be #1 then unless its incredibly front loaded. It got to #42 so far thanks to its preorders (2 track)

Its funny you say that. I initially thought it would be a definate #1 BUT in Ireland, its struggling to go top 20! Of course I realise that doesn't mean anything as such, but usually big US releases still do well over there so I am surprised its not even gone top 10 yet. Next week could be quite interesting!

I can see it entering at #2/#3 to be honest as I think DJ Fresh will get in the way. I'd imagine her album will go to #1 that week though.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but it'd be annoying if one weekers denied it despite the fact it will probably end up outselling them all. Still, I never expected Titanium to be in the running this week so you never know what may happen in a couple of weeks. Next week I'd imagine Will.I.Am will get the top spot, with DJ Fresh the following week. It wouldn't surprise me if they are very front loaded (though they will hold better than Cove Driver have), I wonder if something could sneak a week in w/c 19th February? I'd say SIUTK, Wild Ones and may be even Madonna will be peaking around then? Who knows (Gym Class Heroes is out that week but I can't see a #1 for that ATM but probably top 3/5)

I can no longer see Titanium on the 59p lists, may be it was a mistake? Unless it got put on there a day or two early and it will be on the next batch on 59p songs due soon, does the list get updated on a Tuesday?

The next week could be interesting, I'd imagine Alyssa's remixes will begin to fall by midweek and I can see Titanium gaining again at the weekend. Maybe it will all come down to her EP sales. Alyssa will definately be #1 in the mids though.

It'd be incredibly annoyed if it happens but I have a feeling Titanium and Gotye will both have same fate, getting stuck at #2 with different one weekers through February. Hopefully I am wrong though.

Well the song is everywhere so I certainly think 100k is possible but like you say, it won't beat Louder's first week sales. At the moment there doesn't seem to be much out on the 19th February which makes me think that if HRN can't get a second week, something like Flo Rida or even Gotye may well get there chance. I guess we will see. Next week or two seem to be quite unpredictable at the moment which is quite good to see.

David Guetta seems to be gaining momentum which is great news, #1 on itunes by the weekend then? Will be interesting if it gain a lead for next week. I don't think Flo Rida will reach #1 next week though once a video is out it will definately be a contender and hopefully Gotye also will be in a few weeks, seems to be gaining nicely now too. I can't call Aylssa Reid at all though I suspect it'll go top 5 at least. It would be odd if it reached #1 considering it only reached her home country peak of #11. I also can't call Will.I.Am, the fake version is high to assume a big #1 but as previously mentioned, a high fake version doesn't necessarily mean a UK #1. The only song I'm sure that will reach #1 in the coming weeks is DJ Fresh, over 100k first week? But its going to be incredibly front loaded.

Do labels have any say in getting rid of those fake versions? Just seems weird Will.I.Am's label are letting the fake version get so high as surely it could potentially affect its first week sales. I wonder if his label will rush release it this weekend?

Its true, I played it to my family a few weeks ago and they didn't get it but now they all love it. I reckon it'll get stuck between 11-15 next week and will jump top 10 the following. I really hope it goes top 3, but do fear it will get stuck behind the big February releases. Guess we will see how it picks up Rather impressive for Adele, like Scott just said, who DOESN'T have it yet :lol: I reckon its still got a bit of life in it too

Shame Gotye is falling again but I guess thats the 'weekend' effect so will hopefully climb again Monday. Glad they have released Flo Rida, with the low sales it really wouldn't surprise me if it went to #1 (Lana and Cover Drive will also go top 10). If it doesn't then it may just show that the fakes have an effect on the real version. I wonder if they will bring Will.Am forward too? Dunno why they didn't wait until tomorrow though.

I think it depends on the song and the artist. It does seem crazy that songs like T.H.E or Wild Ones aren't available yet though, its clear they could be be #1 already or at least top 5 if they were available. I wonder if they will rush release them at this rate? Or may be they will just take down the fake versions in the coming days.

Well I am abit of a Gotye loon B-) Seriously though, you're completely right, ultimately sales are the most important thing and it'll end up selling well long term anyway I'm sure, I just find it completely annoying/frustrating when songs (in general) get stuck behind one weekers even though they will end up being bigger/selling more. I guess in MLJ's case it WILL be remembered by the fact it was stuck behind loads of #1s for 7 weeks :lol:

Probably, alas like Moves Like Jagger again, but you never know. I'd say T.H.E will go to #1 on 12th Feb, Hot Right Now on 19th Feb and Rockstar on 4th March and Wild Ones could be a threat to them all though (don't think it has a release date yet?). Of course I could be overpredicting those four but the fake versions suggest they will be big anyway. Gotye could of course become really big itself and stop them or take advantage of a more quiet release week. As soon as Gotye went top 10 in Ireland it went to #1 in a few days so who knows.

Its true, video play can make or break a hit IMO. Gotye will need to be played regularly on the main stations like MTV hits, the box, 4music etc which will hopefully happen soon. It was always going to be big though. I was hoping for a #1 with it but I am not so sure now, simply because I can see it getting stuck at #2/#3 behind loads of one weeks like T.H.E, Wild Ones and Hot Right Now which are all clearly going to be BIG. Nice to see Gotye having a big lead on Ireland's itunes though. The reverting can be quite confusing sometimes, I am never sure if its new or not, especially on livepop. :lol:

Yeah, Gotye was even #1 on Irish itunes earlier :o TV airplay will hopefully pick up next week once it (potentially) goes top 20. Fresh42012 is all over the Box yet it doesn't seem to get played. Just seen that the Flo Rida fake has been deleted. There's another version in the 300s that will climb over the next few weeks I'm sure. I wonder how many fakes will get deleted before it gets released :lol: Its only a matter of time before the Will.I.AM/J-Lo fake gets deleted too I'd imagine.
