  1. On his youtube page, it did say 26th February but earlier in the week the part at the top now states 12.02.12
  2. Gotye will only take off once/if radio and tv pick it up, I have my fingers crossed that radio 1 will playlist in the next couple of weeks. There really aren't many obvious #1s are there? Flo Rida perhaps next week but not sure it will be able to hold #1 for long. Swedish House Mafia could be big as well DJ Fresh in February. Will.I.Am, Flo Rida (Wild Ones) and Lana's newie will all do well but not sure which (if not) will reach the top. Quite impressed that Alesha is doing well so far, maybe it could surprise us and go top 10 in the next few weeks?
  3. With not much out over the next few weeks, I hope the charts don't become too stale. I guess its really hard to judge at the moment though, TV seems to be obsessed with end of year charts at the moment, and I don't think I've seen any current stuff for a few weeks now  Guess everything will go back to normal this next week and I am sure Radio 1 will hopefully have a good clear out of their playlists on Wednesday.
  4. No major shock that Gotye is stalling so far, its not been promoted at all on either radio or TV. Hopefully that will change in the coming weeks. Surprised that Taio isn't climbing faster but then I guess its gonna be a long bank holiday weekend and I remember from past years that anything released this week usually takes a while to get going. Just Dance by Gaga took several days to get going when it was released over new years.
  5. I agree, its actually already doing much better than I thought it would first week. I guess we will know more in the next couple of weeks if Radio 1 playlist it (surely they will?) and with that, then hopefully video play will follow. With not alot out over the next few weeks I'd expect it to peak late January/early February but like you said, thats on the assumption that it does get support. Its too good to flop :(
  6. A great chart as always, a few comments: 1. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know (2) (CR-60-48-44-39-OUT-27-19-13-9-2-1) - Still loving it and so glad its got to #1 for you. Its out in Ireland today so chances are it'll def be out on Sunday here, odd but then I thought about what you said in another post thats its the type of song that will grow. I pray this does well here, I just hope Radio 1 support it, I'm getting slightly concerned they may see its out and not doing much initially and ignore it but hopefully that won't happen. Surely with all the Worldwide success (including even potentially America now) it'll do it. I am beginning to sound like a loon -_- 2. Military Wives with Gareth Malone - Wherever You Are (1) (CR-37-1-1-2) 3. Hilltop Hoods feat Sia - I Love It (4) (CR-5-2-4-3) 6. Coldplay - Paradise (3) (CR-20-30-40-OUT-10-3-6) - So glad this is heading for a UK #1. 8. Lana Del Rey - Born To Die (8) (CR-34-22-8-8) - STILL growing on me 9. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love (6) (CR-21-4-3-4-7-5-2-3-5-1-1-1-4-6-9) 10. Cover Drive - Twilight (10) (CR-10-10) 11. Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) (21) (CR-55-OUT-23-13-7-11-24-36-31-33-32-21-11) 12. Flo Rida feat Sia - Wild Ones (26) (CR-26-12) - Love this, think its gonna be big 13. Oh Land - Speak Out Now (13) (CR-13-13) 14. Rizzle Kicks - Mama Do The Hump (37) (CR-39-37-14) 16. Reece Mastin - Good Night (5) (CR-16-9-14-11-5-16) 19. Ed Sheeran - Lego House (17) (CR-14-16-18-14-9-3-1-3-1-1-6-8-11-14-17-19) Longest Runner 21. Little Mix - Cannonball (7) (CR-3-7-21) 23. DJ Fresh feat Rita Ora - Hot Right Now (29) (CR-29-23) - As we discussed the other week, could well be a UK #1 in Feb24. Rihanna - You Da One (24) (CR-10-10-15-19-24-24-24) 25. The Saturdays - White Lies (11) (CR-18-16-4-7-11-25) 27. David Guetta feat Sia - Titanium (33) (CR-4-1-2-3-7-12-18-23-29-32-29-39-OUT-33-27) 31. Jessie J - Domino (39) (CR-54-44-46-OUT-39-31) 38. Adam Lambert - Better Than I Know Myself (40) (CR-40-38)

I won't comment on everything but here's a few things:- 2nd January Rihanna – You Da One - Will peak top 5 I'd imagine. Taio Cruz - Troublemaker - This will go top 10 but I'm amazed they changed this from Hangover as I think the latter would have given him an easy #1 in January 16th January Alyssa Reid feat Jump Smokers - Alone Again - Love this but it's gonna struggle despite Kiss/Capital playing it Swedish House Mafia vs Knife Party – Antidote - Alot of people are predicting #1 but I dont see it ATM but will go top 10. 23rd January Lana Del Rey - Born To Die - I find this alot better than Video Games, I can actually see this going top 5 actually, I think it'll beat VG anyway. 6th February Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know - If this gets support then this will be HUGE IMO, I can't see Radio 1 not backing it and the video is quite interesting and unique, I don't wanna jinx it but the fact its taken off everywhere its been released it'll be a crime if it gets overlooked here Coming Soon Alexandra Burke feat Eric Morillo – Elephant [27th Feb] - I agree with the above, unless this is awful then I could see this being big. Jessie J – Domino [27th Feb] - This will go top 10 I think Will I Am feat Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez – T.H.E. - Outside shot of #1 IMO A few more songs to mention DJ Fresh - Hot Right Now - Think this could give him a second #1 in February Flo Rida featuring Sia - Wild Ones - Think this will be big myself, at least top 3 I'd say. Next year in January is going to be very interesting as there are literally not big releases ATM and I ain't a clue what will/could be #1!

This years show wasn't too bad actually but I do the miss the 1997-2002 period when they actually did the year end & Christmas countdowns. I guess it must be hard to get foreign acts to do a one off nowadays (unless they are over here already). I guess years ago when it was a weekly show, the majority of foreign acts knew they would do promo when the song came out in the UK, and almost certainly would booked for a slot on TOTPs. You only have to watch some years like in 1999 where there were loads of foreign acts and they played virtually the whole top 10 of that year (and even if they couldnt be there, they'd do a satellite link via America to ensure the songs got played). I do miss those days (I'll probably be alone in thinking that though).
  9. Thoroughly enjoying the chart so far but I've worked out your top 5 (and a very strong top 5 it is too!). I won't comment until you've finished as I don't wanna ruin it. Oh BTW would you mind updating your #1s thread at some point when you get the chance?
  10. Many thanks for the reply. Yeah Gotye is a bit of a weird one, I am so sure that with the right support it'd be HUGE, even #1 here dare I say and 6th February release would be fine. However, on itunes its now saying 1st January which is odd, why bother taking it off itunes only to put it back on 2 months later with no support? However I just can't see Radio 1 not supporting it and I think the video is different enough for it to be get noticed. I guess we will see... (Sorry rant now over). I really like Cannonball and LM but an original song really should have been done for them. I just hope they get the right material. I know its weird but I still can't stand Video Games, I would say its the voice but I really like Born to Die for some reason..odd. I actually think Wild Ones could challenge for #1 when released too but Hot Right now seems a rather obvious #1 next year at this point. Though I find it rather worrying how little is out in January, I ain't a clue who will be UK #1! Merry Christmas, hope you have a good one Ps I am enjoying your Year end chart so far
  11. 1. Military Wives with Gareth Malone - Wherever You Are (1) (CR-37-1-1) - Nice to see it at #1 for you, I rather like it myself 2. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know (9) (CR-60-48-44-39-OUT-27-19-13-9-2) - So glad this has gone high for you, really hopes this goes to #1 for you in the new year. Oddly on itunes it states its being released on 1st Jan? Massive mistake IMO but I suspect if it gets the right support (Radio 1 surely are gonna support it?) then it'll be big regardless. 3. Coldplay - Paradise (10) (CR-20-30-40-OUT-10-3) - Love this 4. Hilltop Hoods feat Sia - I Love It (2) (CR-5-2-4) - Really grown on me 5. Reece Mastin - Good Night (11) (CR-16-9-14-11-5) - Why couldn't little mix have a single like this? At least in most countries the winner gets a new original song at least. 6. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love (4) (CR-21-4-3-4-7-5-2-3-5-1-1-1-4-6) - Still LOVE this, she is gonna have one hell of a greatest hits when it eventually comes out. 7. Little Mix - Cannonball (3) (CR-3-7) - So glad they won, I even voted, just hope they get the right material but if they do, then I'd imagine the first proper single may even outsell this. 8. Lana Del Rey - Born To Die (22) (CR-34-22-8) - Now I didn't like Video Games, and I still don't (I didn't get the fuss). BUT this is great, really growing on me 11. The Saturdays - White Lies (7) (CR-18-16-4-7-11) 17. Ed Sheeran - Lego House (14) (CR-14-16-18-14-9-3-1-3-1-1-6-8-11-14-17) Longest Runner 18. Leona Lewis - Hurt (6) (CR-6-18) 19. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care (13) (CR-26-11-9-4-9-13-19) 20. Lloyd feat André 3000 and Lil' Wayne - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That) (12) (CR-26-26-25-7-12-20) 21. Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) (32) (CR-55-OUT-23-13-7-11-24-36-31-33-32-21) 23. The Saturdays feat Travie McCoy - The Way You Watch Me (19) (CR-32-12-19-23) 24. Rihanna - You Da One (24) (CR-10-10-15-19-24-24) 26. Flo Rida feat Sia - Wild Ones (NEW) (CR-26) - Oh i really like this, think it could be really big here. 29. DJ Fresh feat Rita Ora - Hot Right Now (NEW) (CR-29) - I think this could be a UK #1 next year. 30. Alex Day - Forever Yours (NEW) (CR-30) 33. David Guetta feat Sia - Titanium (Re-entry) (CR-4-1-2-3-7-12-18-23-29-32-29-39-OUT-33) - I really should have put this at #1 in my chart, so glad this now has a video and hoping this goes top 10 in the new year. 37. Rizzle Kicks - Mama Do The Hump (39) (CR-39-37) 39. Jessie J - Domino (Re-entry) (CR-54-44-46-OUT-39) 40. Adam Lambert - Better Than I Know Myself (NEW) (CR-40)

Does The Saw Doctors have a physical release as well? Without it,i doubt they'd be #1. Looks like Little Mix may only get 2/3 weeks at #1 though as they are now down to #5 on itunes. I bet if Rubberbandits had released their single this year and not last year against Matt I'd bet money they would have beaten LM to #1. Did anyone see the Irish itunes top 100 of 2011? Rubberbandits were #1 :o Shaky - Do you know if any radio station are doing a chart of the year countdown this year? I remember last year a Irish language station did it as I remember not knowing what they were saying
  13. I saw that on itunes its now stating 1st January release, its a bit odd really to take it off itunes only for them put it back on no promo (unless they know its planning to get support in the new year). Seems rather pointless though, I won't be happy if Gotye doesn't get support, especially considering its huge success in Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Holland and now Germany.
  14. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
It actually now says Gotye is out on 1st January 2012 on UK Itunes as well. They better not mess up the release, considering how huge its been everywhere, it'd be massive in Ireland and the UK if given the chance.
  15. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Isn't it pretty much straight away? Doesnt Itunes usually freeze with no updates during Christmas day? When it finally starts again, the Xmas songs are usually low or completely gone. I'd also expect MW to keep a decent lead as they will be on TOTP's though I can see everything beginning to catch up from the beginning of next week. Coldplay has almost overtaken Little Mix :o
  16. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Yeah I agree although it wouldn't surprise me if something like Coldplay manage itunes #1 but may never be the official #1? What I find odd about January 2012 so far is there is literally nothing out. This time last year we knew of potential big hits from Bruno Mars, Adele, Kesha etc for the new year but the schedule looks dead, I can't think of anything in the first 3 weeks that could be #1 at all (unless I am missing something obvious). Seems odd the labels aren't taking more advantage of the quiet period TBH.
  17. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I was thinking the same actually. I really do think they will get a new boost in the new year, especially as there isn't an obvious new release #1 for weeks in January IMO but don't know if they will gain enough momentum. I think MW will definately get a second week but it wouldn't surprise me if they get a third. I guess its hard to judge at the moment because its the Xmas #1 hype, its in the news etc. I can see them losing the itunes #1 next week at some point but I reckon their physicals will hold them up to be honest. I guess we will know more at the end of next week.
  18. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
It wouldn't surprise me if Military Wives and Little Mix get another week in the top 2 to be honest but I'd say its a good chance Lloyd or/and Coldplay could make #1 in early January. It actually wouldn't surprise me if both made it at some point, simply because the labels don't seem to be taking advantage of January (where are all the big January releases?). There really isn't much out in early January AT ALL (not sure why Taio isn't releasing Hangover, think it had a decent shot while Troublemaker doesn't IMO). I can see both David Guetta (Titanium) and Rihanna (You Da One) going top 5 too (at least) in early January, their videos are out in the next week or so.
  19. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I can't see Rihanna climbing back to #1  but at this stage I can see either Coldplay and/or Lloyd getting to #1 in early January. There isn't anything looking at the schedule that screams #1 at all, Taio may do well but don't think he will make it (though I think Hangover would have) and January looks kinda dead (of course a song could come out of the blue and shoot up or I may be underestimating something?).
  20. I think its just the US, if you go to the front page of each country they have up the Best of 2011, all sales are from December 10 to the end of the November. They are up literally every country, its actually quite interesting
  21. I think its because the last Billboard issue of every year has always included the year end charts and the only way to do that is to have the cut off the last week of November. I think Soundscan do a proper year end chart (Jan-Dec) that counts all sales as well though.
  22. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Its definately been taken off about a week or two ago (same in Ireland as well). Happens quite alot too, I remember Fireflies being on there months before release and it got taken off as soon as it shot up in the US. I hope (and think) its gonna be pretty big. Looking at the schedule, there really doesnt seem to be any obvious hits in January 2012, not like Grenada, Just Dance etc anyway.
  23. The schedule seems a bit empty in the new year doesn't it? I mean the last few years a massive song from the previous year was held over ie Just Dance, Replay/Fireflies and Grenade, but there doesnt seem to be at the moment for 2012. The only ones that I think are gonna be big at this stage (not necessarily #1) are Will.I.am and Gotye. I also think its mad Hangover isn't out now, I really thought that would be #1 :o
  24. Hope you've been keeping well. I haven't posted in the thread for ages. I may have forgot to thank you for posting your #1s a few months back, loved reading it, you've had some great #1s (especially the last couple of year and 2006). May be you could keep it updated now and again? Anyways, ones I like 1. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love (5) (CR-21-4-3-4-7-5-2-3-5-1) - And here I thought this wouldnt get to #1 for you? This continues your great #1s this year (majority have even got to #1 for me too). Why the sudden rise? X Factor and album effect? 2. Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (2) (CR-26-18-23-12-2-2) - Really like this though still prefer JOH 6. Ed Sheeran - Lego House (1) (CR-14-16-18-14-9-3-1-3-1-1-6) - Big fall but great song, what's your biggest fall from #1? 7. Rihanna - Where Have You Been (6) (CR-6-7) - great song too, she must release this. 8. Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (3) (CR-40-19-13-7-12-21-OUT-2-3-8) 9. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care (11) (CR-26-11-9) 10. Rihanna - You Da One (10) (CR-10-10) - Like this but prefer other songs on the album. 11. Take That - Eight Letters (13) (CR-2-4-8-11-12-OUT-32-13-11) 12. Lady Gaga - Marry The Night (9) (CR-30-32-OUT-68-OUT-35-27-9-12) 15. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger (12) (CR-64-52-50-62-OUT-60-14-3-3-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-6-8-8-9-12-15) Longest Runner - This will probably end the year as my #1 of 2011, I still love it, I haven't really grown tired of it...yet. 16. Reece Mastin - Good Night (NEW) (CR-16) - LOVE this, its nothing new or exciting but its very catchy, shame out winners song can't be more upbeat. 17. Kelly Clarkson - Mr Know It All (7) (CR-10-10-15-12-15-11-16-10-2-1-4-7-17) 23. Charlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go (16) (CR-6-5-1-3-4-7-16-23) 25. The Saturdays - Faster (NEW) (CR-25) 26. Lloyd feat André 3000 and Lil' Wayne - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That) (26) (CR-26-26) - Really love this 27. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know (Re-entry) (CR-60-48-44-39-OUT-27) ...And this. Please be a big hit in 2012 34. Emeli Sandé feat Naughty Boy - Daddy (22) (CR-39-35-35-25-21-22-34) 36. Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) (24) (CR-55-OUT-23-13-7-11-24-36)
  25. Completely agree with this prediction. I'd say that MLJ probably won't make it but they certainly will in the new year. I'd imagine all those 5 songs will make 1 million by early next year which would be very impressive. The only act that do stop that becoming the top 5 is the X Factor winner but I'm not convinced they will do over 900k in 3 weeks. I guess it will totally depend on who wins.
