The **Irish** Chart Thread 2011
It actually now says Gotye is out on 1st January 2012 on UK Itunes as well. They better not mess up the release, considering how huge its been everywhere, it'd be massive in Ireland and the UK if given the chance.

iTunes Chart: December 2011 (2)
Isn't it pretty much straight away? Doesnt Itunes usually freeze with no updates during Christmas day? When it finally starts again, the Xmas songs are usually low or completely gone. I'd also expect MW to keep a decent lead as they will be on TOTP's though I can see everything beginning to catch up from the beginning of next week. Coldplay has almost overtaken Little Mix :o

First Number One of 2012
Yeah I agree although it wouldn't surprise me if something like Coldplay manage itunes #1 but may never be the official #1? What I find odd about January 2012 so far is there is literally nothing out. This time last year we knew of potential big hits from Bruno Mars, Adele, Kesha etc for the new year but the schedule looks dead, I can't think of anything in the first 3 weeks that could be #1 at all (unless I am missing something obvious). Seems odd the labels aren't taking more advantage of the quiet period TBH.

First Number One of 2012
I was thinking the same actually. I really do think they will get a new boost in the new year, especially as there isn't an obvious new release #1 for weeks in January IMO but don't know if they will gain enough momentum. I think MW will definately get a second week but it wouldn't surprise me if they get a third. I guess its hard to judge at the moment because its the Xmas #1 hype, its in the news etc. I can see them losing the itunes #1 next week at some point but I reckon their physicals will hold them up to be honest. I guess we will know more at the end of next week.

Sunday Chart Predictions
I'd imagine Military Wives will easily get a second week at #1 though I suspect it'll lose the number one spot on itunes during next week at some point. I am beginning to wonder if they could take advantage of the quiet January releases and stay at #1 for a third week too?

Top 100 Singles/Albums + Compilations
I think its more to do with the song than anything. Compared to some years, there haven't been THAT many big releases in the last quarter this year as usual IMO and that has affected overall sales at the top end (not so much longer down though). Only MJL, WFL amongst a few others have been really massive. Plus during the summer there were quite alot of flash in the pan #1s (MLJ was easily the bigger hit than all of them) and none stuck around for long. Even Read All About It has fallen quite quickly. It wouldn't surprise me if the drought continues into the new year either. The schedule looks quite bleak, easily in the first 2/3 weeks of January. There doesn't seem to be a Just Dance, Fireflies or Grenade type of obvious hit yet (of course something unexpected could come out which I haven't thought of)

iTunes Chart: December 2011 (2)
It wouldn't surprise me if Military Wives and Little Mix get another week in the top 2 to be honest but I'd say its a good chance Lloyd or/and Coldplay could make #1 in early January. It actually wouldn't surprise me if both made it at some point, simply because the labels don't seem to be taking advantage of January (where are all the big January releases?). There really isn't much out in early January AT ALL (not sure why Taio isn't releasing Hangover, think it had a decent shot while Troublemaker doesn't IMO). I can see both David Guetta (Titanium) and Rihanna (You Da One) going top 5 too (at least) in early January, their videos are out in the next week or so.
-
iTunes Chart: December 2011 (2)
I can't see Rihanna climbing back to #1  but at this stage I can see either Coldplay and/or Lloyd getting to #1 in early January. There isn't anything looking at the schedule that screams #1 at all, Taio may do well but don't think he will make it (though I think Hangover would have) and January looks kinda dead (of course a song could come out of the blue and shoot up or I may be underestimating something?).

Best selling albums and singles on iTunes in 2011
I think its just the US, if you go to the front page of each country they have up the Best of 2011, all sales are from December 10 to the end of the November. They are up literally every country, its actually quite interesting

US iTunes Top 100 [JUL-DEC 2011]
I think its because the last Billboard issue of every year has always included the year end charts and the only way to do that is to have the cut off the last week of November. I think Soundscan do a proper year end chart (Jan-Dec) that counts all sales as well though.

iTunes Chart: December 2011 (I)
Its definately been taken off about a week or two ago (same in Ireland as well). Happens quite alot too, I remember Fireflies being on there months before release and it got taken off as soon as it shot up in the US. I hope (and think) its gonna be pretty big. Looking at the schedule, there really doesnt seem to be any obvious hits in January 2012, not like Grenada, Just Dance etc anyway.

New Release Schedule: Monday 5 December
The schedule seems a bit empty in the new year doesn't it? I mean the last few years a massive song from the previous year was held over ie Just Dance, Replay/Fireflies and Grenade, but there doesnt seem to be at the moment for 2012. The only ones that I think are gonna be big at this stage (not necessarily #1) are Will.I.am and Gotye. I also think its mad Hangover isn't out now, I really thought that would be #1 :o

Good Delta Hit Parade: 28th November 2011
Hope you've been keeping well. I haven't posted in the thread for ages. I may have forgot to thank you for posting your #1s a few months back, loved reading it, you've had some great #1s (especially the last couple of year and 2006). May be you could keep it updated now and again? Anyways, ones I like 1. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love (5) (CR-21-4-3-4-7-5-2-3-5-1) - And here I thought this wouldnt get to #1 for you? This continues your great #1s this year (majority have even got to #1 for me too). Why the sudden rise? X Factor and album effect? 2. Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (2) (CR-26-18-23-12-2-2) - Really like this though still prefer JOH 6. Ed Sheeran - Lego House (1) (CR-14-16-18-14-9-3-1-3-1-1-6) - Big fall but great song, what's your biggest fall from #1? 7. Rihanna - Where Have You Been (6) (CR-6-7) - great song too, she must release this. 8. Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (3) (CR-40-19-13-7-12-21-OUT-2-3-8) 9. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care (11) (CR-26-11-9) 10. Rihanna - You Da One (10) (CR-10-10) - Like this but prefer other songs on the album. 11. Take That - Eight Letters (13) (CR-2-4-8-11-12-OUT-32-13-11) 12. Lady Gaga - Marry The Night (9) (CR-30-32-OUT-68-OUT-35-27-9-12) 15. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger (12) (CR-64-52-50-62-OUT-60-14-3-3-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-6-8-8-9-12-15) Longest Runner - This will probably end the year as my #1 of 2011, I still love it, I haven't really grown tired of it...yet. 16. Reece Mastin - Good Night (NEW) (CR-16) - LOVE this, its nothing new or exciting but its very catchy, shame out winners song can't be more upbeat. 17. Kelly Clarkson - Mr Know It All (7) (CR-10-10-15-12-15-11-16-10-2-1-4-7-17) 23. Charlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go (16) (CR-6-5-1-3-4-7-16-23) 25. The Saturdays - Faster (NEW) (CR-25) 26. Lloyd feat André 3000 and Lil' Wayne - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That) (26) (CR-26-26) - Really love this 27. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know (Re-entry) (CR-60-48-44-39-OUT-27) ...And this. Please be a big hit in 2012 34. Emeli Sandé feat Naughty Boy - Daddy (22) (CR-39-35-35-25-21-22-34) 36. Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) (24) (CR-55-OUT-23-13-7-11-24-36)

YTD T40 Singles (with estimated sales)
Completely agree with this prediction. I'd say that MLJ probably won't make it but they certainly will in the new year. I'd imagine all those 5 songs will make 1 million by early next year which would be very impressive. The only act that do stop that becoming the top 5 is the X Factor winner but I'm not convinced they will do over 900k in 3 weeks. I guess it will totally depend on who wins.

WW/regional hits that could be UK hits in 2012?
I would also mention Hangover by Taio Cruz as well. I'd imagine it will be Avicii Vs Taio for potentially the first UK #1 of 2012. Gotye is an obvious hit IMO, Radio 1 are bound to support it and the video is quite unique. It wouldnt surprise me if they cut down the first verse though (for radio). It really wouldn't surprise me if it reached #1 either. I did think about Marlon Roudette but not sure if would do well here. As for Geronimo I actually think it could do quite well here but like goodelta said, it probably wouldn't get a push here so we will never know. Your Da One by Rihanna and Domino by Jessie J are potentially big hits as well too.

Aura Dione - Before The Dinosaurs
I love Geronimo and am glad its having success in Europe. I do hope it gets a UK release early next year though, its catchy enough to be a hit here with the right push IMO. Guess we will see. Also surprised the full video hasn't surfaced yet, they are taking their time.

Steps - 'The Ultimate Collection'
Morrisons are definately stocking it, its #10 in their chart with Jason Derulo at #1

How close will the top of the charts be today?
- Sunday Chart Predictions
While Loca People and Iris have been close, remember that as LP has multiple versions and the EP as well. I agree that Rihanna will do it with not much of a lead (Doh) but I think the pop bars don't always give an accurate picture. LP was on approx 18.500k on the first mids with M5 having an 8000k lead already, and that lead will surely be well over 10k by now. If you guess that LP sold a further 7k each day on Tues/Wed/Thur puts it just below the 40k mark so Rihanna probably hasn't done this yet. M5 only hope is if it has a rebound weekend effect over tonight and tomorrow and is able to make sure progress. Could go either way IMO- iTunes Chart: October 2011 (I)
Your right, it seems its stuck on 0.411 or thereabouts, so it looks like it peaking (unless I've spoken too soon). I guess M5 always have a weekend effect so I'd imagine it will be catching up from tomorrow, even if it happens quite slowly.- iTunes Chart: October 2011 (I)
Is it me or is that lead beginning to slow up? Obviously Rihanna would never be able to sustain that leads for a long time but its barely going up now (wasn't it only .45 earlier?). It will probably climb bit by bit for now but it wouldnt surprise me if M5 began to get closer from tomorrow. I still think Rihanna will do it but possibly by only a few thousand.- iTunes Chart: October 2011 (I)
Yes this Wednesday apparently. Its going to be a very interesting week. I mean MLJ has had a big head start and while I have no doubt Rihanna will make #1 on itunes during late Wednesday/Thursday it will surely need to do double of MLJ for the rest of the week to even stand a chance? Then MLJ will also have some sort of weekend effect so it could be quite close I think! Will be interesting to see how far ahead Maroon 5 will be tomorrow in the mids, just noticed its also #1 and #2 on Amazon (not that prob means alot)- iTunes Chart: September 2011 (IV)
I'm trying not to get my hopes up just in case something comes out of nowhere but fingers crossed. Its also now #1 and #4 on Amazon too (not that may mean much but still).- iTunes Chart: September 2011 (IV)
Its increasing isn't it? Next week could be quite close, I'd love MLJ to do it but I've always thought Sak Noel would likely be #1 for 2 weeks. Having said that, Sak's EP sales are decreasing and and I can see his lower versions beginning to fall after the weekend so it could go either way at the mo IMO - Sunday Chart Predictions
