Where did you hear that? They release very little info (most of the info i know is from chart track commentary) but there is no way a #1 sells that amount (bar from charity or X factor winners). I remember when Mario (Leave right now) was #1 on Christmas 2005, it was the fastest seller of the year and was the 11th best seller of 2005, but only sold 18k, meaning the top 10 of that year only sold over the amount. I remember reading an article saying Numb/Encore sold 2,000 the week it was #1 too. If you read the commentary from late 2009 when Joe was #1, he sold 20,000+ in his second week (maybe 40k at best by the end of last year?) and that was the 20th best seller of the entire decade (actually if you go by that very rough total then many big hits of last decade sold less than that).

I had exactly the same problem. It wont let me go onto irish itunes yet it lets me on ALL other countries itunes so it must be a problem with just Ireland. Do you mean you are stuck on the Irish itunes? If so, what i did was to just sign in on my UK account and it transferred me to the UK store (back to normal). It still wont let me back on Irish itunes though to have a look etc.

Its just downloads as there's no physical for OMG. While it is surprising its that low, its not shocking. When they released the top 40 of the decade and I Gotta Feeling was only #37 after 12 weeks at #1, it was kinda obvious then that sales must be quite low. Its weird as many countries single sales like the UK and Australia are having the best sales for years yet Ireland its very poor.
  4. Lady Antebellum now at #2 :o future #1 maybe? Is anyone having any problems getting into the irish itunes? I have the UK version. At the bottom of the home page where you can go to other stores, it lets me go to ALL other countries but with Ireland it just says ''Your request could not be completed. the item you've requested is currently not available in the Irish store''. Can anyone help?

Roll Deep will be top 10 in the next update or 2. Usher does have quite a big lead again but its certainly not impossible that Roll Deep will go to #1 still (aside from the fact the EP is #1 on the album chart). Some songs will debut high and go to #1 very quickly. Others like Naturally debut high (#18) yet couldnt even go top 5 in the official chart, while others like In My Head didnt reach itunes top spot until mid week and still reached the top by the end of the week. It'll go top 3 anyway at least.
  6. Actually found it now, on his official youtube page it says its out 6th June.
  7. Plus there's Scissor Sisters and Kylie out (both could challenge for #1 if any good). When is Frisky out?

I've noticed its doing very well on pre-orders on itunes (as is B.O.B). In fact Roll Deep were top 40 last week so it'll go top 3 at least I'd imagine. If not, Usher is looking like it'll reclimb :o (I know he's back in the UK next week doing promo including Graham Norton)

I didnt think you could buy songs from other itunes store apart from your own country? Or is there a way around it. I have tried before and it certainly didnt work.

Still loving this, like gooddelta said, it could be big here through word of mouth. The best example of foreign language songs last decade was O-Zone and that went top 3! I remember The Box playing that too death as well, it was #1 on Box tops for a while (oh how i used to love box top!). The box really did help make the hits back then.

  12. Interesting, I do love the Swedish chart, it can be so random sometimes. How did you find out Anna sold 8k? Was it reported somewhere? Its interesting considering over 3 million people watched the final. Then again the contest album is ALWAYS the best seller of the year there so I'd assume most people buy it instead..
  13. Only just discovered this song. Its now #2 & 37 on Australian itunes at the moment, its huge there. Really grown on me, was this ever released in the UK?
  14. Great news for Train, it wouldnt surprise me if it became an Irish #1 at some point!
  15. Train is now finally #1 on itunes - just! It may be a long shot but i do wonder if it continues to shoot up in airplay and sales over the coming month if it has a shot at #1 on billboard?
  16. Agreed, its strange as when i first heard Pyromania it screams massive hit to me, it'll prob go top 10 but certainly wont be the hit i thought it would be. Interesting for Christina as i thought they would hold it back. However, if its strong enough it could well climb to the top in May. 19th April I'm pretty certain Chipmunk will get the #1, the following week Roll Deep has the biggest chance now IMO, and I still think Train will be a dark horse in May. Nothing screams massive in late May though, but I'm thrilled K'naan is coming out here, could be big over the summer thanks to the world cup

Scouting for girls in at #22 already! :o No sign of Plan B as yet
  18. simonf posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Love this song but i also love Chipmunks newie too. I reckon itll go top 3 but it will be beaten by Chipmunk Interestingly, the official chipmunk video has been viewed by 100,000 in less than 3 days on youtube (there are several vids there), Diana has 2 official video pages on YT but its been viewed only 120,000 in 2 and a half weeks. I know it doesnt mean alot as such but i reckon its a sign Chipmunk will end up having the bigger hit (btw i realise there are other Once videos on youtube but most of those have been added over a month ago but she did have a head start)
  19. Agree with the #1 predictions but I reckon its gonna be quite close between Diana and Chipmunk. I certainly dont think either has it in the bag yet but I suspect Chipmunk will do it myself. I do hope Edward Maya and Train have big hits on their hands but its really gonna depend if radio playlist them etc.

Maybe but alot are predicting Plan B will do it that week.

I think it could be alot bigger, especially if commercial radio / radio 1 play it (apparently radio 1 have played it), its almost top 10 on Irish itunes, top 5 on german itunes, and now #1 in Australia. I really hope it doesnt flop :(
  22. simonf posted a post in a topic in Eurovision Song Contest
Apparently its the fastest download song of all time there and is currently outselling the rest of the top 10 combined :o Its really growing on me

Just been looking at the opinions from the number ones thread and was thinking that there really is nothing much out over the coming weeks. Just curious what people thought (especially as there hasn’t been a #1 prediction thread for a while). I’ve listed a few contenders for the next month or too, feel free to add any future contenders I haven’t thought of. Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone Most likely future #1 will probably be this one, if it doesn’t do it this week it should climb next week. Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song I’m not convinced by this myself but it is getting good airplay, their last album was big too. I think #1 will be out of reach for this but it could well go top 5. Kate Nash - Do-Wah Do Out in early April, could she get her first #1? I think it stands a good chance, its not like its got a lot of competition plus its already seems to be getting love from TV and radio. Professor Green - I Need You Tonight As soon as you hear it you know what the sample is but I’ve been hearing it abit on Kiss and was getting good tv airplay last week on Box breakers etc. Actually it wouldn’t surprise me if flops either. Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone Out of all the songs suggested I think this could stand the best chance. Radio 1 have already playlisted it and it screams big hit. Top 3 at least for this Diana Vickers – Once Already getting decent tv airplay plus radio 1 have playlisted it (always a good sign), I’m really not sure it can reach #1 but it should go top 5 (very minimum top 10) Iyaz – Solo This could do well but it will be nowhere near as huge as Replay Train – Hey Soul Sister Call me crazy on this one but I really expect this to be big. Already a hit in the USA and likely #1 in Australia next week, radio 1 have already played it and commercial radio are gonna love it. Not convinced with #1 just yet but it does scream big hit to me (top 3?) Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart Not out for a few months but it could be big Cascada – Pyromania Now when I first heard this it screamed #1 to me, however since it still doesn’t have an official date and radio 1 seem to be ignoring this so far (which seems odd considering they playlisted the last album). It’ll go top 10 I think but may not be the hit I first thought? Edward Maya – Stereo Love Now technically this isnt on the schedule yet however its already been picked up by a UK label and I can imagine this being a big summer hit. Its reached top 10 (and #1) through a lot of Europe already and radio 1 are already playing it, if it gets enough airplay this could be huge IMO (though I don’t think commercial radio would play it much) There are bound to be some surprises along the way though…
  24. These votes are seriously all over the place arent they, come on Kom i say, amazing how high its suddenly got!
  25. Does anyone know how many countries there are on the international jury?
