ARIA Charts - 12/01/09
She has left the top spot, Wes Carr climbed to #1 in mid December and PF regained. Her CR so far is... 26-23-19-18-9-3-1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1- Impressive! Its the now the longest running #1 since Apologize though i reckon Jessica will knock her off now, Jess' lead is gaining now on itunes.

iLoons Chart: January 2009 II.
I wouldn't be so sure to be honest, Gaga still has a massive lead. Will be interesting how high all the versions of DNN go now. And when i used a ruler (i know hardly accurate) i put the combined position as quite close to the top 20 :o

iLoons Chart: January 2009 II.
Wow@Kid Cudi. Quite impressive really, interesting that its the club mix and not the radio edit that debuts highest!! There are no doubt more versions of Day N' Nite outside the top 120 as well, I wonder where he would be if we added every version together?

Jessica Mauboy - Burn
She's now #1 on Aussie itunes

Who Will Be No1 Next Sunday (11/01/09)?
Ofcourse that's assuming all 200 branches have stock left, several I've been to the past week have barely anything left. Even so, I reckon Alex will have a head start in the mids, could get quite neck and neck by the end of the week I reckon, especially if Alex continues to fall on itunes (which she will). Lady Gaga could end up doing at least 50k-60k this week maybe? So if not this coming week I'd expect her to do it next week (Kid Cudi will be a threat and is still a potential #1 but surely it can't do more than 50k? - though the singles market is higher right now so who knows).

New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 5 January
Oh yeah that too! Will make the top 3 I'd imagine if not higher. Equally may be there could be a shock #1 as well?

New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 5 January
I agree there doesn't seem to be many obvious #1 contenders bar Lily, Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi and Comic Relief. I've just listened to Empire Of The Sun and it doesnt really strike me as an obvious #1 though? U2 have a new album out in early March so I'd expect a single from them in late Feb. Also doesn't Timbaland have a new album out in Feb? If so, that could be big (lead single depending obviously).

iTunes Chart: January 2009
Great for Breathe Slow, hopefully itll give a second top 10 hit. Fab for Lady Gaga, depending on Alex's physicals next week, she could climb to #1 afterall. I do think if she doesnt do it next week, she'll likely do it the following week. I'd say Kid Cudi DOES have a chance but I reckon its more likely he'll get stuck at #2, especially if Gaga has a hefty lead over the next week or so.

The Irish Chart Thread 2008
Thanks for doing this Shaky, I'm also listening, enjoying it so far, it will be interesting to see the top 10! 26 was Sam Sparro - Black & Gold

☃ iTunes Chart // Christmas 2008
I know, its very annoying! Yet its weird because I've been to other countries itunes like Australia/USA and the popularity bars seem to be updating ok on there but the UK's and Irelands aren't. It must be working for some people because the popularity bars were posted several pages back, not sure how though.

☃ iTunes Chart // Christmas 2008
I agree, at my local club its exactly the same and itll obviously be huge (ofcourse that doesnt mean itll be #1). Alot of people thought Lady Gaga was guaranteed to reach #1 (even me) and now i'm not so sure so anything can happen. I'd assume Alex will do another 100k at least this week then 60-70k ish the following week maybe? After that, i reckon itll fall quite quick. I wouldn't be surprised if Leona has a chance to reclimb in a week or too either. It took until the end of the second week of this year for the gift card effect to calm down (looking at older threads) so itll probably be similar next year. Or maybe we will be in for a shock #1 if Gaga, Kid Cudi or even Lily can't do it?

☃ iTunes Chart // Christmas 2008
Totally, i also thought it would be top 10 at the very least by now BUT i still think itunes updating problems haven't helped. I mean the top 100 hasn't updated since last wednesday for me (i hope that issue gets sorted soon) so many still won't know its even there unless people look for it. Though I'm sure that will change once its top 10 (its looking likely it may get stuck behind Alex in the main chart now) Also, the UK top 10 last week sold over 36,000, thats a HUGE amount, many #1s havent even sold that much! So its taking longer to make the impact that it may have done. I remember years ago January was the lowest sales period, obviously not anymore! (Im not saying these are the reasons but im sure they are a factor or I may be wrong completely) :P I wonder how much longer Alex will be able to maintain her sales? I suspect she will have a hefty drop this coming week (its gonna fall from #1 on itunes by the end of the week anyways). It will be interesting to see who will knock her off now.

☃ iTunes Chart // Christmas 2008
Also abit surprised that Gaga isnt top 10 yet BUT then sales are big at the moment plus itunes hasn't been updating so unless you actually look for it, you won't even know its out. BTW is itunes updating the toolbars now as yesterday it wasn't working for me? Looks like Leona may retake the top in the next couple of weeks too.

☃ iTunes Chart // Christmas 2008
Glad itunes has been updated. Not really surprising to see everything climbing though quite surprised that the xmas songs have gone already! Though on my itunes page it still hasnt been updated so i am unable to see the popularity bars, anyone have them? Hopefully itll all be updated later on. Even on the live feeds i look at none have been updated either which is annoying!

Almost Saturday Chart w/k ending 2nd Jan 2009
Thanks for posting this each week. You do a great job. I find it very fascinating! Interesting to see Kid Cudi is getting more pre-orders than Lady Gaga. What stores are included in the pre-order chart out of curiousity? Also great that you post the top physicals each week. I am probably in the minority now but i do still like to look at that chart. That top 10 physical of the year is quite surprising, i mean terry wogan at #3? :o Plus Oasis in the top 10!

Oh really? Out of curiousity where did you hear that from? As i thought it had been confirmed as 28th December a while ago?

Predict Potential No1’s In 2009.
Just having a look at previous X Factors winners sales, by weeks 4 their sales are near 30k. Ok so Alex could do slightly better but i'd say by week 4 Gaga or even Leona will have leapfrogged her. 52 31 Dec 742,180 Shayne Ward That’s My Goal 01 07 Jan 132.284 Shayne Ward That’s My Goal 02 14 Jan 54,152 Shayne Ward That’s My Goal 03 21 Jan 31,724 Shayne Ward That’s My Goal 52 30 Dec 571,253 Leona A Moment Like This 53 06 Jan 128.077 Leona Lewis A Moment Like This 02 13 Jan 39.000 Leona Lewis A Moment Like This 03 20 Jan 20.400 Leona Lewis A Moment Like This 52 29 Dec 275.742 Leon Jackson When You Believe 01 05 Jan 119.927 Leon Jackson When You Believe 02 12 Jan 32.098 Leon Jackson When You Believe Thanks to Haven for sale figures

Predict Potential No1’s In 2009.
Although I was one of those people to predict the feeling reaching #1 ^_^ i think Lily will better than that, she's already #1 on itunes video chart and its already top 20 in the irish itunes. I do think she needs to bring the release forward a week or two though otherwise it may burn out.

Predict Potential No1’s In 2009.
I agree with you on most counts ej87 I reckon there is a slight possibility that Leona Lewis Run could reclimb, itll definately continue to be a big seller next year. Lady Gaga Just Dance If this isn't #1 I'll be shocked, apparently its out for download on 28th Dec so i'd say itll enter around #2/3 and then climb the following week with the physical out. I reckon Alex will make it to 3 weeks at #1. Kid Cudi vs Crookers Day ‘N’ Nite I do love this and theres alot of hype about it. It'll help that physical/download are being released the same week. I think it will just depend how big Just Dance is (if JD is selling over 50k for example i think itll struggle). If this doesnt do it, itll go to #2. It has a very good chance though. Lily Allen The Fear I LOVE this, very catchy and i think this and JD are the 2 tracks will are most likely to do it BUT does anyone else think shes getting tv/airplay too soon? Its not out until 26th which is still 5 weeks away! Having said that, i still think itll reach the top. U2 I agree that unless they come back with an awful track, this will reach the top, but will have to wait to hear it. Comic Relief (x2) When was the last time Comic Relief failed to reach #1? I have heard about Girl Aloud/Take That track. If thats true then it will be MASSIVE!!
-
Predict: Kid Cudi Vs Crookers – Day ‘N’ Nite
Top 3 definately, itll beat Girls Aloud I'd imagine and it'll give Lady Gaga a run for her money i reckon! Alexandra will get 3-4 weeks at #1 max. Kid or Gaga will be the first new #1 of 2009 IMO
-
Predict: Lady GaGa- Just Dance
That's what I've been thinking (Alex or Leona) then when kid cudi is out, it goes straight to #1 with just dance stuck at #2. Guess we will soon see, we may be over predicting Kid Cudi somewhat. Hopefully Poker Face will do it though, in Australia and New Zealand PF has been bigger so far.
-
Poll: Alesha Dixon- Breathe Slow
I love this, really hope it gives her a second top 10, I think its strong enough to climb top 5 as well.
-
Predict: Lady GaGa- Just Dance
The song is excellent and i really hope for a #1 (though i prefer Poker Face) BUT I'm slightly worried because even though I'm sure Alexandra's sales will have died down by then, Leona's Run looks set to do another 90-100k this week, it really wouldnt surprise me if she reclimbs and stays consistant through January (ofcourse i may be completely wrong). I think Kid Cudi will give Lady Gaga a run for her money

New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 8 December
Just to let you know Data are releasing the download and physical together for Kid Cudi vs Crookers – Day ‘n’ Nite on 12th January as confirmed by HMV and on Data's youtube link. HMV also mentions that Lady Gaga is out 5th January though not sure how true that is.
-
Lily Allen - The Fear
The track is a real grower IMO, def top 5 i'd say, I actually think it could reach #1 actually, its already playlisted at radio 1 and its not out till 26th January!! I reckon this, Kid Cudi and Lady Gaga are all #1 contenders in January but thats just my opinion
