Because even if it does got the way we want it to, a lot of countries are preparing their NF’s at that point, and they’re gonna have to wait that long to find out if they’re even gonna participate because of Israel’s potential participation? Really enjoying this at the moment. It is kind of faceless but it also follows heavily on the same path as Physical & Can’t Tame Her, two of my favourite songs of the decade so I guess she couldn’t go too far wrong.

At present, I’m sticking with my back up for last contest, which is kind of Charli XCX sounding, so more electronic but not as in your face. I’ve not tired of it in the last 4 weeks since I chose Frost Children so the fact it’s holding up in my affections should be a good sign. Wouldn’t surprise me if I changed but I’m not exactly blessed with time for searching while I’m working away at the moment.

Baring in mind, I’ve not had a single finish better than 8th all year, to still be sitting pretty in the top 10 of the YTD feels like an achievement to me! 😂

Genuine questions here - do you foray New Music Friday Türkiye often? What drew you to an unknown artist from this particular playlist? Obviously I’m not the most inspired when it comes to the entries I send, so I’m actually intrigued on your methods of discovery for music.

Congrats Blacksquare! Storm doesn’t seem like something I’d necessarily usually vote for but it squeezed in, and it DOES seem crazy you haven’t actually won yet this year despite dominating every contest so it’s about tiiime! That top 10 definitely wound up looking better than it did at the half way point, thank god. Voted for 7 of them, glad Ajanaeda rose to the top 5 it deserved in the end. Get it POPHub and even more GET IT NEW LEXICO. Nobody even mentioned Airplane Mode but such a great song and a richly deserved dark horse. Also really happy to see Aesthetica and Cheiron getting a top 20, big bops. Kluminican Republic deserved better though, such a highlight for me. What do you mean Inna meets a touch of Ice Spice? Who knew I needed it but I reaaaally did. I asked for a top 20 for myself and got… 21st! I would’ve loved better because I think it’s such a banger and I think Frost Children are a really exciting act but I do have to echo Travis saying it was quite a competitive contest so that’s sometimes just the way the chips fall. And it was in hardly any top 3s so there’s that. The Summericia situation of them getting so few votes definitely worries me for my taste going forward so here’s to trying to get to the end of this year with a 100% qualification streak and then we’ll see what happens from there 😂

They were fab weren’t they?! Literally every song feels like it’d be a top 10 in BJSC haha, it’s probably a good thing they won on the first go round or they’d have been a Debbii Dawson. As was Twst, another one to tick off the “artists I’ve sent that I’ve seen live”.

Won’t be able to catch much of this sadly as I’ve got to be up at like 2:30am to travel to London for work. ☹️ Crossing my fingers for top 20, not sure what to expect for my entry as I’ve not been a part of any listenthroughs and the contenders have been quite concentrated amongst a consistent 6/7 countries. Of those people have tipped to win, I’d be happy with most of them tbh, but particularly Summericia and Ajaenada. And POPHub if they are considered to be a contender.

Two of the six biggest financial contributors withdrawing surely makes this impossible for the EBU now. And I think if Germany were to actually pull out over Israel’s disqualification, they’d probably have said by now and all we’ve had is speculation from an Israeli source about it.

EXCITING! While I'm here, on the off chance anyone has enjoyed 'WHAT IS FOREVER FOR' (I guess we'll find out tomorrow), their album Sister came out on Friday. I'm just finished with it and it is wall to wall brash, loud and fun electronic pop/dance. People should check it out cos I figure a thread of its own would get no replies x

It's so... busy? I get the point of it but I feel like it's done in a really not aesthetically pleasing way. 😂

Oh and ALSO, I do really want to get this on vinyl, but my god that album cover is UGLY 😟

Before You Break My Heart is the one from the newer tracks. A totally different pace to anything she's released before but definitely feels like "her". Definitely think this could've been a pre album release single, but not straight after Angel Of My Dreams, what with them both working off a retro sample. I'd probably go for something like: 01 Angel Of My Dreams (Late July) 02 FUFN (f*** You For Now) (Early October) 03 Before You Break My Heart (January) xx It Girl (promo release in March, about 2 weeks before the album, no video etc) 04 Fantasy (push track with album release in April) The album is definitely out too late imo - it feels like a summer album, and releasing it mid-September, 15 months after the lead single just feels DRAWN OUT. And the choice to introduce the album with 6 existing tracks is even worse. A really solid album though and will work wonders to solidifying her existing fanbase.
