For what it’s worth, I’m not sure I would necessarily have picked out Seyetana if I’d gone in blind before the contest and listened to all 62 entries but I honestly don’t know if I could often pick out the winner that way. It’s always the combination of seeing where the vocal hype is + its competition + whether it’s likely to crossover etc. That’s why I always wait until the final to gather my thoughts, I couldn’t do a full set of odds during the semis like Rich and Juranamo have done before.

I feel like this contest is more alt-heavy than usual, so I don’t think most of the pop songs will get a look in with those fans and I think there’s plenty of alt songs that won’t get a look in with pop fans. But Portraits Of Tracy - as Brer accurately compared in the listenthrough - has a Hemlocke Springs energy that I could imagine sneaking into Fljotavik’s and Lookylion’s alike. I think Kathaldazia could be the other entry likely to do particularly well at crossing over, hence the top 3. I do think that pop will have a good month though, as a result of the contest being less pop leaning than usual, so the top pop songs will be more concentrated. I think Botanikka will do the best of the bangers and, not sure I’ve seen that much hype for this, but if ORKID/Dani Sylvia can score top 2’s with that kind of pulsating, emotional electro pop, then I see no reason East Rukahavian won’t smash with this. Definitely think I’m coming for an almighty fall from grace this time and that’s not even me being a Cody, considering I did predict myself 4th (correctly) last contest. A fair amount of my bottom 10 prediction don’t feel right - I could see almost all of them finishing higher and I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s much easier to predict what sounds like it’ll do well than predict which songs (that have already picked up enough support to make the final in the first place so you know there is some built in support) won’t.

Blimey, there’s some real throwbacks here with Tick Tock, Sexual, All About Tonight etc. Mostly pretty good throwbacks though! 1 Thing and The Fear in particular ❤️

Confessions - The Film deserves ALL the noms and it’s incredible to see Madonna as the most nominated in any award show in 2026, let alone VMA’s. Incredible. I will say the Bring Your Love noms feel a little like the label would only agree to a Madonna x Sabrina Carpenter performance on the night if they were nominated and granted, if that does happen, will almost definitely be the most talked about performance of the night and wouldn’t be surprised if she pulled out a modern day Britney kiss from it (or at least a reference to it) so fair play.

Both Ariana and Rose would’ve had much longer chart runs if I’d not had a summer break being too busy to be fair, so the short chart runs they have right now don’t do them justice!

Possibly me and you both xx But no seriously I’ve been watching Amara CTK100 for a fair bit now but feels like she’s hitting into her own in the last few releases.

This has really clicked with me this week. I initially thought it was kinda typical Carly but a tad basic but its simplicity and the way it kind of holds back is its entire charm. She’s just effortlessly great at writing a super melodic hook and that leaves you ultimately not needing all the bells and whistles that you’d get from other artists.

What even is this award, the Eurovision Awards don’t exist, do they? 😂 That is very literally just… a medal for participation.
