167 ◾ Finale
Votes sent from a caravan in Wales. Honestlyyyy… best final of the year. Could’ve voted for 21 easily.

167 ◾ Odds & Predictions
Honestly… thinking this could be a DJ Turn It Up kinda turn up for the books that really smashed it top 3/5 style.

Katy Perry working with Dr Luke on new era
Above everything that everyone has covered (and I agree with bits and bobs from all of you), what I find most striking about that response IS... she will 100% have been briefed that that question was coming before it was asked. So, somewhere, her team and her have sat down and written out what they think her first comments on this fiasco should be, and that's what they came up with? A whole lot of... not really answering the question? :kink: I assumed the approach was going to be "bury head in the sand for as long as people" and honestly, whilst it's not the most noble of moves, it's probably a better PR move than whatever that response was which has just REARED the topic back up again and done zero to win anyone back on side.

RPDR | UK | Season 6
I'm going to assume La Voix will do very well, undoubtedly one of the biggest UK names left who hasn't done it yet, and will obviously stand out amongst all the young ones. TONS of Manchester girls here - Actavia is one of the most energetic performers I've ever seen, I'd have thought she was a bit new for this, but hey! Chanel O'Conor is also fantastic, feel like she's got it in her to do well. Never seen Lill but she is Manchester through and through, doesn't seem like she gives a f*** but that makes me love her more. Saki is good fun too but I'd be surprised if she was particularly competitive. Rileasa was my favourite from the MTQ though and that name is iconic. Dita as a 48 year old should be interesting too, and given she was boasting about being gymnastic and a dance teacher, a different angle from the likes of Charlie Hides/Kitten Kaboodle etc.

The Untucked Lounge • General Discussion
I don’t think Isis would’ve had the personality for it. But maybe I’d have said the same for Brooke and that seems to have worked out. I’d take Spankie as a host over both of them  (Or realistically, I think Art would’ve made the most sense as a host from S1, but they can’t go with that after she didn’t overly excel in her season)

Kylie's 4 recent collaborations
1. My Oh My 2. Midnight Ride 3. Edge Of Saturday Night 4. Dance Alone Considering I wasn't wow'd by My Oh My on first listen, it's grown to be one of my songs of the summer, such a creeper into my affections.

Canada vs. the World | Season 2
I do wish it had been a top 2 format on a season with only 5 consecutive episodes though, because I think it could’ve given the illusion of a much tighter race. With a top 2 format, I think you arguably have Lemon and Cheryl on 3 wins each. Or Lemon and Kennedy on 3 wins each, depending on which way the production chose it to go. I love the beaver on a regular season but I do think on a short one like this, it didn’t allow other stories to be fleshed out as well as they could.

Canada vs. the World | Season 2
Yeah, Cheryl won that lip sync by a mile. That whole episode was pre-determined imo, but the right person won in the end and it really was a very enjoyable but short series.

RPDR | Global All Stars
Echoing that I'd have put Miranda and Gala in the top (instead of Kween and Vanity). And, as much as I don't really want the US queen to come in and win Global All Stars because it'd be boring, Alyssa really is my favourite of all time and this episode proved exactly why. She's just a RIOT every time she's on screen and I've rarely ever seen a talent show capture someone's brand so perfectly, it was 10/10. Icon icon icon. I can see Kween getting pushed more this series than I feel like I'll agree with though.

Talk talk featuring Troye Sivan
I could definitely see her on something like Talk Talk?

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
I think she could do like 6-7k and wind up at like #8 or something? There’s obviously not going to be a single hit carrying it though so who knows? Nice to see Lifetimes not completely dying away (not to say it’s in any way successful but there are mild signs of growth, and I’ll take the crumbs!)

I moved in with my boyfriend this week and we’ve been playing this a lot, it holds quite a special place in my heart now as a “the start of forever” sentimental anthem.

Die With A Smile (with Bruno Mars) ● 1st single
I’ve just given this another listen and it’s definitely fair to say it’s not my thing, but that’s fine, neither was Million Reasons. This side of Gaga just isn’t for me but it’s not meant to be for an audience like me. It is, however, a very smart business move for the modern day Gaga and I think it’ll do very well for her. To the gays and the girlies, she’ll always be Ra Ra Bitch but I think to the wider world now, if you asked them to name Gaga’s signature song, it would probably be Shallow. She’s unlocked a new kind of string to her bow where I think the GP fully respect her now instead of thinking she’s something to be mocked. So, working with a fellow Grammy’s darling like Bruno Mars who also has that kind of “middle aged but still cool for the youth to like” vibe is clever. This will win awards, it’ll get played to death on adult contemporary, it’ll do well with critics etc. There’ll never be a shortage of young pop girls cropping up - Chappell is covering that ground just nicely right now, but the key to longevity is being able to diversify yourself and it’s something Gaga has done so well since A Star Is Born. I’ve always said I’d like Katy Perry to have gone down a Kacey Musgraves type route because pandering to young pop is only going to work for so long when you start getting older and it starts to look “uncool”. This isn’t trying to be cool, unique or anything you’ve never heard before but it plays nicely into the arc of “new age Gaga”. So good for her, if she never makes another pop banger album again, she never has to because she’ll always have her back catalogue. She can be the classy offspring of her idol Tony Bennett for life if she wants or she can dip back into doing crazy shit when that feels right too because it’ll feel like nostalgia rather than her trying to relive past glory in vain (aka what we’re seeing right now with KP). Probably an unnecessary TLDR post but I’ve been thinking about her career arc a lot today and how sensibly she’s played it in comparison to my fave, even if the music isn’t to my taste

Die With A Smile (with Bruno Mars) ● 1st single
It’s…. nice but quite uninspiring, even by Bruno’s standards, let alone Gaga. It does have a nice melody and it’s sweet enough but I guess it’s the fact it’s Gaga, you can’t help but always want to be excited by something she does and she’s rarely this generic. So, yeah, decent for a movie soundtrack if it were for one, but nothing to really make you want to return to. I imagine it’ll do really well in the US though because it sounds like it’s been specifically designed to be played on adult contemporary radio like a Pink or Ed Sheeran song.

RPDR | Global All Stars
SO excited for this, I think it'll be a breath of fresh air amongst all of the Drag Race we've had recently - even though I did enjoy S16 and am loving Canada, this kind of variety is going to be such exciting viewing.

Actually surprised it’s on course for top 100! Loving it a lot right now though, her voice can sell anything to me.

Lifetimes • 2nd Single
This certainly bops and I’m enjoying it! Think it’ll age better than Woman’s World but it has less identity than that did. The lyrics really are terribly empty of any meaning but as a whole song, it feels like a complete package, it’s feel good, great progression, lots of hooks, doesn’t end up after 2:20 and actually gives you a full experience. It’s not going to revive her career or inspire anyone who has already turned off her, but I’ll certainly get enjoyment out of it.

/// THE FINAL RESULTS ● 166
I feel like that's a larger group of countries that have qualified in every contest of the year than usual! 12 countries with 100% qualification rates. I could be wrong and maybe that's normal.
