The predictions have done a little bit of work to lightening my nerves for this contest, but I still wouldn't be surprised if I didn't make it this time. It was a really hard semi for me to predict and I also didn't think it was even that pop heavy? Feel like that's been exaggerated quite heavily just based off the countries in it, rather than the songs themselves.

I do think there’s nuance to the conversation that, perhaps, it felt like Noah Kahan feels like he has potential to be HUGE in a “he’s everywhere” kinda way and he doesn’t feel like he’s reached that with this album. So maybe it doesn’t feel like he’s capitalised on that - a bit like how people felt with The Giver and The Subway maybe? But that’s not to say him, nor Chappell, aren’t massive and doing very well. It’s just a different type of conversation. Two top singles from any album is a success by any metric and the hold is pretty decent, all things considered.

Well done Julian ❤️ It was always going to take a lot to beat ABBA from the moment the acts were revealed but the way you’ve played it has made it feel more special than only playing their wealth of hits. Which you could’ve done and still the outcome would’ve probably been the same but this way, you’ve introduced people to some lesser known songs whilst providing the hits at crunch time. Very deserved. And a huge well done and thank you to Calum for hosting this! It’s a mammoth task to take up that would struggle to work without commitment and your commitment to the bit is second to none. Even more successful second time round than the first and I know everyone will be knocking on the door to be a part of Series 3. Not least me where I can be competitive and not Eric Saade x

well done all 3 👏 I’d definitely sussed Kelly and Lily out by the final but not ABBA! Very good gameplay from ABBA in particular who waited a while before having to play the big guns, superb use of keeping your nerve. You’ve all played a blinder but Scene really is the king of pop forum song contests between this and the Best Of Pop end of year competition.

I actually really like all 3 choices but I don’t ~think it’ll be particularly close actually. It feels quite apparent that one act hasn’t had to burn through all of their biggest hitters.

SO excited to have Jasmine Kennedie back, she’s one of my biggest breakout stars of the past 5 years or so. It was so clear that she had a star power but hadn’t quite worked out how to harness it yet but the lip syncs were everything and I think post-transition looks so realised. I enjoy me some Kennedy and Silky but I could really do without another 4th season character dominating. Gag @ Vivacious, I must’ve missed that somehow when the rumour mill was spinning for this season. How fun!

I actually think it did and maybe still does exist - a lot of the other rumours (Eli on Crush, Tyla on Hot & Sexy, Emilia on Girls Girl) turned out to be correct. It wouldn’t surprise me if Shakira was a last minute “get” and they’ve rolled with it due to her being a much bigger name. Zara’s even acknowledged the Inna/Alexandra speculation (perhaps only because there’s a lot of sad Romanians in the comments):

I probably wouldn’t have given this much of a chance without Zara but seeing as I have, I’m quite hooked. Tyla is very very good at a slow grower for me though. Songs that make your body start moving without even thinking about it, kinda effortless and easy. Zara sounds amazing and commanding on it though, in contrast.

My payback was served this contest by not having speedy enough fingers if it makes you feel any better x
