I get your point because the album, by design, was always going to get curiosity listens but this well? Off the back of a #8 album with no top 100 singles? It could’ve just as easily been met with “I don’t care” and a view that she’s old news now. Hindsight is a beautiful thing but I don’t think anyone could say they thought it’d have the level of success that it is (outstreaming Dave etc).

Of this list, I am Sophie & The Giants sole supporter! I thought the Westlife song was really bad and cringy lyrically and I like to defend Westlife where I can Would’ve easily gone for any of the push tracks from Demi, Lily, Marina OR Sigrid but I understand why that’s muddy waters of what to pick sometimes.

I don't think it's about being "smart" either. The album was written/produced in 10 days, probably not too long ago, and I don't think they could've ever foreseen (though, they'd have hoped) it would garner such attention and support. You can't just pull physicals out of your arse if they're not made, just because something has been surprisingly popular. It'll probably repeak in January anyway, maybe even during a quiet week it could reach #1, what with the physicals already available for pre-order.

Kinda wild to think Lily Allen's album has more songs currently in the top 50 than Dave's. I don't think a single one of us could've predicted that at the beginning of the week. Obviously we have no clue who will release in January, but would be so deserved if West End Girl could reach #1 in January when the physicals drop, especially if word of mouth just keeps growing over the next few weeks.
