I do realise Charli XCX is a part of this and I do enjoy this - as a big fan of Charli's music, this is obviously sonically up my street. But, this is so shamelessly close to the... original source, that it's hampering my will to go back to it, as much as I ordinarily would with a song like this. There's no attempt to add any "Selena" to the mix, the vocal style mimics Charli, the lyricism is completely Charli, the production is completely Charli. It's near identical to Roll With Me, and I just don't really get the point of not even trying to mix up the formula a bit to make it feel your own? Like, it's SO obviously a demo that's been sat in the basement since Number 1 Angel and they've dug it up, let Selena mumble on it and called it a day without even thinking "how can we adapt this to make it feel like a Selena song?"

After hearing how poppy this contest was, I'd resigned myself to not doing particularly well in the final, so if I could just stay top 20, that'd be great! Particularly if it's 17th, 19th or 20th which would also be a new position for me.

Nelionoir would've been my prediction to win so glad to see I'm not too far off. But, I'd be happier with a FARC win - great song which I accidentally already knew because my old housemate used to play it quite a bit. Not sure why I never questioned what it was because upon hearing it here, it's right up my street!

It came quite comfortably last in its heat (she’s not a live performer, let’s just say that, but it is all kinds of ICONIC). For what it’s worth, I absolutely still would veto anything that made the Melfest final, and perhaps even Second Chance round. But this didn’t get much discussion and made no noise in Melfest itself.
