I think all of their biggest hits ARE bops but if we’re talking overrated - I think it’s a shame that 5,6,7,8 is one of their staples to the every day Joe on the street. While Steps ARE cheesy and that’s part of their charm, I think that they have much better quality cheese in that back catalogue. Deeper Shade Of Blue, in a just world, should be their signature song to the wider public, not 5,6,7,8 or Tragedy imo. The fact it’s not even in their top 10 on Spotify is WILD.

Well this is a change of pace for The Spodic Empire but I really like/love all 3, and know them already. Given Reve’s current run of multiple top 5s and having seen this in a few personal charts, I think she’ll be touch and go for the veto. I was tempted to switch to her last contest but decided against it. My favourite of these is Away With The Fairies (and the least cheap of the 3) - again, a song I confirmed, but switched away from.

This is SO “I’m In Love With A Monster” by Fifth Harmony. Happy to see them break out of their “singing nonsense” for a song (I say despite loving Pinky Up but for variations sake) but this is quite the pivot into quite an anonymous vibe. The Ed Sheeran co-write goes some way to explaining it though. All this being said, it is a cute pop song and I do like it but yeah… doesn’t help me work out their direction as a group.

Well done Harve! I’m definitely not the main audience for this kinda song but I understand its appeal for sure and it’s always nice, as I said with Joshua Idehen, to see a song with a lot of 18s win and not just be polarising, but genuinely the most popular song so can’t be argued with. Excited to see you host! 4th was EXACTLY what I predicted for myself in the end so I’m thrilled to have racked up another top 10, with what I now assume is my record of 5 in a row, going off what Pav said last contest. It seemed to grab so many 5-1s which probably speaks to it being a genuinely appreciated song rather than one people are wildly excited for so 4th feels appropriate for that. Pleasantly surprised about FARC - a very good shout from Leww out of nowhere there. Another solid pop song from Dani Sylvia, who I obviously enjoy having sent her twice, although her newest material kinda isn’t giving so makes sense that this was from a previous era. And YAY for not being way out for Leww this time - I was hesitant to predict you to win because of how it’s gone for you so far this year but there was no way this banger wasn’t gonna resonate. Loved the hosting Addy, I always do, you’re a very trusty host and I’m always here for a new hosting idea ❤️

I really liked the Elderbrook song personally but had a feeling it was gonna struggle to connect to people in a way that inspired big votes. Dobago on the other hand! I really can never tell when a retro dance entry is gonna pop off cos stuff like this has finished top 10 before, I swear.
