  1. Well I LOVED the era of DJ Mustard so I naturally love this, so much fun. It’s giving me Drop That Kitty teas which is such a lost hit in my eyes x
  2. Fragma for me now.
  3. There's quite a few I don't care about, but I voted Lemar as I figured he'd be the closest to saving Westlife. Turns out that's not possible but oh well  I've said this 100 times on here but will always have a soft spot for Westlife given my Mum was obsessed with them and I've grown up with them. I used to love I Have A Dream and particularly Seasons In The Sun growing up!
  4. I definitely miss a lot of the nations in that first post. Scherzland, Ramrynia, UVLand, St Burbia, Bellamia, OSLOL :( When we talk of getting people back though, it’s hard, BJSC is time consuming because of how many entries there are. I find it hard to fit into my life to be quite honest and it’s unsurprising that a lot of people drop out because they don’t have the will to block out 2/3 hours of their day to listen to all these songs. I would agree that I’m enjoying the make up of BJSC less in the last 12 months, just in terms with the music that resonates with me, but I do always find that it seems to come back around and nothing stays the same. And I also find that in contests where a lot of the pop doesn’t make it, the ones that do actually hoover up a lot of points because there’s not much choice. So then people see that and send pop… then a lot of it qualifies and a more experimental song will succeed next contest because there’s less of them. Everything is a cycle and it keeps things interesting, I guess.
  5. When I saw a thread about the pop nations falling before clicking on this thread to catch up, I was like “aw it’s finally over x” so I’m very relieved that’s NOT the case! Boo for Charlotte Sands though, deeeefinitely would not have called that. Especially in that semi.
  6. Definitely Love Generation between the two. Justice for my favourite GA song though ❤️

I love love love the vibe of this song, probably the most of any song this era, and I think I’m gonna fall for it hard in the next week. BUT I’m not finding it very “hooky”, like it’s not getting stuck in my head the way 2 Hands did immediately. Buttons is one of my favourite songs ever so I have no doubt once this is lodged in my head, I’ll take all that back, but that’s my only flaw right now is that the chorus isn’t super catchy or instant. But the production and energy is everything.
  8. SENT ~ Not a great semi, needed more trucks.
  9. So they MAY still be in it? This Eurovision season is wild but it sure is entertaining!
  10. Love Jamelia, but this particular song has never been one for me particularly, so it's that for me (and was in Round 1 too).
  11. A shame to see anyone pull out, of course, but I can't say I'm disappointed it's them dropping out if it can make way for QUEEN ERIKA *.* I still wouldn't rule out VIIVI! She's popular there, the song is still growing on their Spotify, it's the only ballad which will undoubtedly stand out to the jury there too.

Hoping that, with Capital's support, Espresso might start to blow up this year
  13. I know Danny was asked last year, but I think didn't quite make the cut, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it was him of all the Drag Race UK lot. A lot of that initial list strike me as false though. Amelia, if she's going to do a reality show, would almost definitely be a name for Strictly or I'm A Celeb with actual good ratings. I feel like Rebecca More is now also kind of... past whatever level of fame she was considered on at some point and I don't see ITV wanting to get someone on whose quite literal job is a pornstar, there's no real other way to dress it up.
  14. I mean, ultimately it's not that deep, it's just a fun contest. I largely just suggested it because, prior to this contest, there'd only been one top 40 entry sent and that was a Purple Disco Machine remix, not the original. So, I thought it wouldn't change the make-up of this competition, given that everyone had been following that unspoken precedent anyway. I actually don't know why we all followed a rule that was never even written down from contest #1, it would be very in my nature to send the cheapest possible song at every given opportunity
  15. Superb top 5, love them all. For what it’s worth, interesting to see my first choice of entry (Make You Mine) finished 2nd and second choice (HEAT) finished 3rd. Just so on it x Happy to see it was a close one in the end too, even if we did end up with the inevitable! A very strong set of entries on the whole, 2024 was a great year for pop. And pleasantly surprised to see New Woman creep up to top 5 in the end! Would absolutely be up for 2020 & 2021 editions - would it be out of place to, off the back of this contest, ask for top 20s/top 40s to not be included? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Scene sending his favourite song this time round, but now we’ve seen it does indeed result in a win, I wouldn’t want people to just enter (idk) Midnight Sky and Good 4 U just for an easy win. Not that I’m king of being inspired in these things but there are ~levels, especially with those years having Record Of The Decade results to go off as a guideline for which song would do well.
  16. Interested to see whether this is a Chappell runaway or whatever she's been marked down a fair bit by people. Not sure who I'd expect to snatch it in those circumstances, perhaps Tove or Magdalena Bay?
  17. NE271XRWnNg Reaction to all songs is up! Needless to say, I'm beyond on board with Ich Komme and think it'd probably wind up being one of my favourites of the year. NEED the staging to gag me as much as the video did. Ranking: 1. Erika Vikman - Ich Komme 2. Viivi - Aina 3. Neea River - Nightmares 4. Goldielocks - Made Of 5. Nelli Matula - Hitaammin hautaan 6. One Morning Left - Puppy 7. Costee - Sekaisin Love the top 5 tbh, another great year for UMK if you ask me.
  18. I want Denial Is A River to keep pushing. I hate when songs accelerate really fast and then kind of… stall at like 30ish, it’s somewhat unsatisfying
  19. Might be able to make some of a listen through if it was tonight! Maybe…
  20. Not Down Under All Stars, why would they bother
  21. Stan is probably the one I’d be least likely to listen to.
  22. LOOOOVE Ich Komme.
  23. I don’t think Radio 1 specifically playlist anything that isn’t a single, unless it’s on album release week, where they occasionally playlist the whole album.
