  1. Looks like a Matthew Rolston directed video.. think he done the 'Listen' video for Beyonce
  2. I came on cuz I knew there would be reaction to the whole Radio 1/Playlist issue. They obviously have something against her. She is a perfectly good pop artist who makes pretty decent pop music (Im not big on the new one). Radio 1 claim to be a #1 hit pop radio station, blah blah. Also the fact that that welsh twat over at R1 tweeted what he did, shows that clearly they have a problem, otherwise, nothing would have been said. He's angry its doing so well without their support. Personally, I think the license payers should contribute to what is on the playlist. At the end of the day its us that pay to keep the station running and we pay the guys who choose the playlist to keep them in a job. They are notorious when it comes to the playlist. So bloody picky. But hey, gotta get used to it. All I can say is, well done to the fans who are supporting the song, going out emailing Radio 1 and the press, keeping going. And if all else fails, looks like shes still gonna be #1 at the weekend...
  3. Kelly Clarkson - Hook Up + Already Gone Daughtry - Home/any of their stuff Kristinia Deberage - Goodbye + Future love One Republic - Secrets (epic tune)
  4. BOOKED: Alexandra Burke - Josh Forbes, dir. * artist: Alexandra Burke * song: "Start Without You" * label: Sony * director(s): Josh Forbes * production co: More Media * rep: Laure Scott * producer: Hillary Calhoun * executive producer: Stephen Buchanan Location: LA Date: Sun20th/Mon21st Like others are saying, not the director I would have thought of or even chose. I would have went with Ray Kay.
  5. Yea well then this is a case of it coming down to the label, not the artist. Her label probably know her reputation latley of her singles performance being quite unpredictable, therefore they arent going to take a risk to blow money on a physical cd roll out unless they have a 'sure to be hit', which she hasnt had in a long time. Therfore they will just promote the album by way of sending the song out to radio and putting it out as a 'download only'. Plus just because shes been about for a lifetime dosent mean shes 'directing' to an older audience. Some of her recent songs wouldnt appeal to her expected audience.
  6. Each record label have their own strategies, etc, some are more tight fisted than others but most of the time, it comes down to the artist. If the artist has an 'older' fanbase (30 onwards) then its likley the song will go physical. In most cases though usually releasing the first single from the album physically is a good promo opportunity, for the approaching album. Then download only usually follows after the album is put out, or maybe after the second single, especially if its people in the younger demographic (14-30), sometimes to encourage album sales at that point. Digital sales have a huge influence on the final charts. Sometimes labels put out singles not to sell the single, but simply to promote the album by way of radio play, so they were never expecting a high peak in the chart anyway, thats more the case with the fourth or fifth single onwards. Another thing is the budget allocated to that artist and returns expected. If a small budget is allocated, they are going to want to lower their costs providing profit maximisation. So they'll spend less money on putting out a physical cd but maybe increase promo in order to promote the fact its download-only.
  7. They are waiting too long to release this. The lead single is more of an 'instant hit' type of song and there is going to be too much of a gap between its peak and the album's release. You can maybe get away with that in the States but with regard to the UK, Radio stations are gonna start picking up on it very soon and if they end up not releasing it til August (usually a couple of weeks before the album), people will either be sick of it by then or will have given up, or even will have downloaded it illegally. Unless they are going with what Sony done with Kesha and Tik Tok, releasing the single soon then releasing a second single the week before or week of the album. Either way, their best bet is to bring the release forward to at least Mid-late July.
  8. very surpised Hollywood (records) have let her do this. Maybe they are finally realising that they cant always rely on Disney to beef up sales and it actually requires some effort in the marketing department to actually send singles to radio, make good videos and release more than 2 singles per album (but I still dont think they have managed that last one  Either way, Im guessing once shes done with this (and lets face it, Hollywood will "discontinue promotional efforts" in around July as "sales will fall") she'll be on the bus to Jive or Interscope..
  9. another funny thing is that rob covallo's dad is president of Hollywood, and what a feckin good job they are both doin. being crap at running labels seems to run in the family
  10. So cuz this gaga idiot exits means other people cant be in the industry?
  11. Im surprised. Not surprised that ther continuing to be wierd but that its got so far up itunes and its a great radio friendly club summer anthem and they havent added it. But they add Pixie Lotts fifth single even tho the last one didnt go top 20?
  12. Top 20 but it could push the album back to top 5/10
  13. A moment Like This was an unofficial single. It was released after she won X Factor, and they added it on as a Bonus Track 'just because'. Bleeding Love was the 'lead' single. Better in Time & Footprints were released as one single release, a Double A Side, therefore not qualifying both as singles. Forgive Me was released as the lead from the re-release. 2 single releases
  14. Hollywood Records springs to mind. Their artists barley get 2 singles per album, and even at that only a couple of their artists get their songs actually sent to radio. In the past 2 years, a few artists have left due to lack of single support and promo. Also, Syco (Simon Cowell's label) arent all that great anymore. Leona Lewis only got 2 singles from her first album (ignoring potential hits), they chose the wrong lead single from her latest album, waited too long to follow it up with a second, probably wont release a third, and are still yet to follow the first single (which flopped) in the States and other international territories. They make good albums, but dont have a clue what to do with them after the first single.
  15. All Night Long would have made sense released in Summer, its a Summer anthem. They should have went with the ballad to show album versatility. They were maybe worried ANL wudnt have charted as high by the time the fourth single came around, but its a different version so it was gonna do better anyway.
  16. Hilary Duff has revealed at the film festival red carpet premiere of her latest flick 'Provinces of Night", that within the next couple of months, she will return to music. Duff has sold 15 million albums worldwide and remains both a commercially and critically successful recording artist. She is without a record label right now after making the decision to leave Disney and Universal based 'Hollywood Records', in November 2008. Thereafter she recieved numerous offers from mainstream labels however turned down all.
  17. ^ yeh, its a decent song but not strong enought to be released after what would be classed as a 'mainstream flop'. They need something strong to back up her only flop and make sure it dosent happen again in the near future, or with this era at least. It will take at least another two singles to get the album sales up to around 500k in the states. I think NP could do well at Adult Contemporary radio in the U.S but something more upbeat should be sent to mainstream. Then NP might crossover... As for the UK, this 'current single' should have just been classed as a promo single, they should release Emergency 911 here as the next single since SOS seemed a success.
  18. wtf?
  19. she knew how 2 get cowells vote...sing a whitney houston song
  20. very solid album wierd that 'naked' is not on the u.s version tho as sumbody said, sounds quite american and single-worthy
  21. some article in the paper or something i read. she said she would like to and that they had been talking about it but nothing was 'concrete' yet...sumthin like that edit: "We've been talking about it." Jordin says of the possibility of appearing on the ITV1 singing contest. "I don't know if it's confirmed yet, so if I am it'll be just as a surprise to you as it is to me." "But I'm hoping - I'm trying to make that happen because I want to." http://www.unrealitytv.co.uk/x-factor/jord...th-leona-lewis/
  22. best thing to do would be to release 'The Cure' in the UK 2nd week of December when shes over for that Christmas show and she could do a performance on X Factor the same day. She would need to shoot and release a video within the next couple of weeks and get it out to radio by the second/third week of november. its the best song to release at this time of year and it would do well with the x factor performance, i heard shes in talk with x factor so i doubt shed sing an old song.
  23. from what ive heard, they are in talks with jordin sparks
  24. surprised she aint booked in for any other tv apperances this week
