  1. Good response from the band today: @1763534604416278575 It's a shame that the original article took what was said originally out of context- but this happens all the time. I think it's equally a shame that there is this culture of immediately reacting with rage like this. Better to judge someone on their actions as opposed to how they are portrayed in one article and then jump on some massive pile-on just because the music isn't for you.

I despise Galloway, not for his policies and beliefs which I do respect (and mostly agree with), but the way in which he operates. He seeks to drive ppl apart and incite anger in already divided communities. It's the same tactics of the far right IMO. This by-election was a complete mess anyway. Labour rushed into holding it, the funeral of Sir Tony Lloyd having barely been held. The way that the antisemitism was handled by Starmer was piss weak and the kind of embarassingly poor political judgement that he, the Labour right, and the entire political class would have criticised Corbyn for but yet were mostly silent on this time around. This result will change nothing but it will feed into the narrative the Tories want to lean into and drive further division into politics, taking heat away from the very real issues that the UK faces as a nation in decline. Edit - the 'Sunak and Starmer being two cheeks of the same arse' is a great line to be absolutely fair to him.
  3. I must say that Baroness Warsi has been great over the last few days - she is a huge credit to the Conservatives - they really don't deserve her. @1762217343449456958
  4. She was of course originally in the Lib Dems - spoke at their conference in 1994 arguing for the abolition of the monarchy. Now, people can change their views over time but after vociferously campaigning for remain in 2016 she then immediately switched to supporting Leave as soon as it became politically conveninent to do so (see also: Boris Johnson). She's a completely empty vessel with absolutely no politics, ready to parrot whatever lines those willing to pay her or give her influence ask her to. She completely failed as PM - collapsing in just 49 days (10 of which were an official mourning period for R Liz). To even have the audacity to show her face in public, let alone be paid to speak at these influential conferences is an insult to every person in this country who saw their finances well and truly fucked by her and her Chancellor back in 2022. The Lee Anderson comments on Friday have exposed what is at the heart of significant parts of the Conservative party today; the fact that senior figures in Government couldn't call it out as it is, nor has Suella Braverman's equally racist/Islamophobic comments been called out tells you a lot about those who have money and influence in the party.
  5. Just wanted to say thank you for the incredible effort and work you've put in to running this contest. Wonderful presentation and graphics once again, those GIFs. *.* Great to see Ajanaeda, Eastovka and Séyetana through especially! I really wasn't expecting to Q from such a strong semi so to do so was a welcome surprise. Haha, I know - I only recognised Lauren from the mv - I'm subbed to her YouTube channel so just amazed that I totally missed this side project rly

  7. Absolutely loving the breakbeat 1-2 <3 Fantastic discoveries all round and a great edition - thanks for the superb hosting Kath. Thanks to those who voted for Minor Victories!
  8. I know, it's fantastic isn't it. Let's hope they go even lower. *.* Specifically on polling, I saw YouGov showing that the point at which someone is more likely to vote Conservative rather than Labour as rising to sixty-six (66) years old! @1760575535372013593
  9. Yes, but as we know, Keir Starmer is totally cool with Israel committing war crimes and said in October last year ' . I agree that the SNP were clearly laying a trap for Labour, something the Conservatives were initially keen to support (but backed out when it appeared that they were just as split), but I do think that ultimately nobody comes out of this looking great. On all sides what should have been a serious debate was hijacked as a cheap opportunity to attack political opponents. My guess is that Hoyle took the action he did to nullify that as much as he could and it completely backfired. Interestingly I've seen that in 2009, the last time that the Speaker resigned, Michael Martin was facing a No Confidence motion signed by 22 MPs. Lindsay Hoyle has currently got a No Confidence motion backed by 67 MPs. It's not looking great for him..
  10. Voted - didn't expect to see former Cumulonimbia entrant Lauren L'aimant reappearing on a banger from Kluminican Republic as '1111'!
  11. Flawless presentation! I'm really sorry that I missed the reveal but I loved catching up with the recaps this afternoon. <3 Thank you for my postcard, I love the CB timelapse and the track you've used is very much my kind of thing: serving some clubby Breakbeat Techno Tuesday Mary Anne Hobbs vibes~
  12. It would have debuted at No.10 but the CD Single sales were deemed ineligible because it had 4 tracks on it (the rules only allowed 3 at the time) so only the 12" sales counted I think. Pretty discriminatory rules to dance singles which usually had plenty of mixes, and the limit of 20 minutes running time seemed similarly targeted at the genre. hSFAB8KYWRs This got to #67 in September 2002, and was a deserved Top 10 hit for Trifoski in BJSC a few years back.
  13. Really enjoying “System”, love all the French House influence coming strongly through on all of salute's singles lately. Hopefully we'll be getting an album soon, it's been too long!
  14. @1756263234397425963 No morals, no plan, no beliefs, no emotional intelligence. No electoral humiliation for the Tories will be good enough, I want them not be totally obliterated to zero MPs.

Excellent work Colm. I love how the extra disc has given you more room to include some smaller overlooked classic Rave hits that were missing from Now! That's What I Call Rave. In particular pleased to see Urban Shakedown and Congress make the cut. *.* Also- a random aside, but weird how the video for “Go” by Moby (1991, end of the Cold War - fall of the U.S.S.R.) and “My Girls” by Animal Collective (2009 - Great Financial Crisis - fall of global capitalism) look similar, bookending as they did the 'second Belle Époque' of 1991-2009.
  17. Shames us all. @1754616409752015210
  18. I enjoyed the Tête-à-tête between our PM and Piers Moron, whereupon our illustrious leader bet £1000 he could deport vulnerable and desperate people to unsafe conditions in Rwanda. ha. ha. so funny guys. Although, honestly - if I'd wanted to see a hotly contested competition between two of the most ignorant men in the UK to find out 'who can be the biggest cunt' whilst tossing around the one remaining brain cell they (presumably) still had - I'd have watched Top Gear (pre-2015).
  19. This only got to #84 in May 2000. A long lost classic IMO :( siA6a4jJULQ
  20. Wow, incredible to see Fat Dog get the win for uhsting! I did think that was an obvious standout and highlight, but didn't even begin to dream that there would be so much love for it <3 That Top 5 is also incredibly close to my own votes too (it's v rare for me to vote for seven of the T10); both the Evian Christ and Fat Dog singles were hits on my personal chart late last year and the Neon Indian track was back in 2015 (narrowly missing out on #1 ) so I'm happy that managed to make the Top 10. 'down with landlords etc.' Thanks Jordan for the hostings! Always fantastic to have a new winner as well- expectations are high for Sovarasma 162 and I have every confidence that they will be exceeded.
  21. Otherwise known as 'just over four Liz Truss premierships'... Entered x
  22. Reform have just hit 13% in the latest YouGov poll, and are now averaging more than the Lib Dems. @1750480267398025316
  23. @1750486431871480106 Silas now confirmed as alias of Nicola Sturgeon...

“Blame It On The Weatherman” appearing on the 1999 compilation is actually offensive to me.
  25. Cheers Kath, tho I wouldn't necessarily take mine as correct, haha ! Although when I saw Asha live she definitely said it they way I said it for Fai Fighter (just as incredible live) <3 “Sports” was a great single too, great to hear that both of the other main singles are still to come. Some excellent entries in the last groups, especially DJ_Dave ( ), Ross from Friends and Four Tet who all made my T100 too. Also “Tekknotrans” was one of my favourite discoveries that you served up in BJSC last year, a lot of your entries I was previously aware of but that was a lovely little discovery. The Chems came back really strong this year, great to see “No Reason” appear. My favourite singles from them this year were “Live Again” and “Goodbye” - the latter recently going Top 3.
