  5. ^ I guess he saw that the original policy was unworkable and used this opportunity to make some political capital. The bonus was he got to troll those who actually want us to commit and go further. Presumably including his own daughters. Makes me dislike him so much more tbh.
  6. Isn't this all just a 'vibe' played out to convince those gullible enough? He's hoping that they will be convinced by the disingenuous claim that Sunak and the Tories are going to put a stop to policies that make the general public poorer, that were never on the table anyway, and are on definitely their side and totally not that of the oil and gas industry guys. I think it was telling that Sunak used 'terraced house in Doncaster' as an example of someone who would benefit from the delay to replacing gas boilers from 2025 to 2035, because of course Red Ed is the MP there and is itching for timid Starmer to go further and promise more action on climate change and net zero. I thought when this was leaked the intention was to call a snap GE but it doesn't look like that, just a return to Liz Truss and her 'anti-growth coalition' bollocks. But I'm sure as someone who has literally had to upgrade the national grid infrastructure around his property so that he can heat his pool, he has a real deep understanding and empathy for how the people of the north of England are feeling (or anyone else in this country for that matter) struggling to pay energy bills. Ref: EVs, I don't really know enough to speak on this, but our local leisure center recently converted its entire car park to be covered by solar panels that power charging points. In my parents village they now have a shared EV called 'sparky' (hah) which they book online to use, seems pretty effective and we used it over Christmas last year with zero issues. So there are def moves taking place, whether its gonna be quick enough to have sufficient infrastructure in place by the start of the 2030s I have no idea. Also it's fair to point out that switching from petrol/diesel to EV doesn't necessarily make as much of a carbon reduction as you think it does when a significant amount of the grid is still powered by fossil fuels and this will put more demand on it. Finally- think also the Gov are panicking about the loss of tax revenue when nobody is buying petrol/diesel and how to replace that. Kicking the can down the road is a tried and tested tactic.
  7. There's a live video performance of the single from Copeland Gallery - magical. lu1rCV37sFA
  8. TAPS AFF, headphones ON and a glass of red in my hand. What? Oh.. well generally it's Spotify for initial listen while doing other stuff like cooking or whatever and then noting what songs stand out to pay more attention to when I watch them through later on my desktop on YouTube, so I don't have much clue who sent what, or what's going on in general. The ones that get 7/10 from my ranking after this then go on a playlist to listen more which is to help rank the final order and knock out the ones I sadly can't vote for. If there's less than 10 (15 in the final) tracks then I have to go to the 6/10s and so on, sometimes I even have to resort to including a Persephonia track.. that's when u know it's been a v barren month (jokes) xx Wait - so does nobody watch the videos anymore then? Aw, I quite enjoy putting together the promo videos for songs I send that don't have one? 😞
  9. Really? I immediately thought of David Walliams tbh but that would ofc be stretching the definition of the word 'comedian' beyond all linguistic precedent.

'Caution this vehicle is reversing'-core. Oh my. 30 seconds and I am so IN. Kathaldaslayzia *.*
  11. I missed the spin-off unfortunately, but I have been following Sofia since the stunning “La Perla” was sent to BJSC in 2021, the vibe/sound of that reminded me of one of my fave Chemical Brothers tracks “Star Guitar”. I didn't know the story behind Vajkoczy but that would make sense with the album title, really looking forward to the album. I love that her music encapsulates so much emotion, something that people often criticise electronica for not having, but this is straight at the heart stuff, I love it.
  12. Queen of live coding performances!
  13. Love the graphics! <3 I was wondering how you were going to find an image for Lauren Tischler (LST) because there is basically nothing on the web about her. Eek, and after I double confirmed on Art School Girlfriend in the spring - it's got less than 600 views so I thought it would be (relatively) unknown. We must drift by the same music sites/blogs.
  14. Not seen the documentary but I've now read the article in full (https://archive.ph/KX4zn) and it is comprehensive, damning and also very harrowing and upsetting to read in places. I knew he had quite a reputation and at times even though his Jekyll and Hyde personality actually came through often on his chaotic and anarchic Radio 2/6Music shows, which I was a fan of at the time, despite this I didn't realise how dark, abusive and controlling he could be. As for the reaction- well the statement that he put out was disgraceful and shows he has a complete lack of contrition or remorse for what he is alledged to have done, but I suppose that's mostly the lawyers saying that he needed to get 'ahead of the story' and not admit culpability. It's still a dick move, better to say nothing at all. It is entirely predictable that those that preach the same anti-establishment conspiratorial rabbit hole BS that he has now fell down have come out in support of Brand. Ditto him saying this is the establishment hoping to shut him down as he's getting close to 'the truth' without specifying what that truth is of course. What I hate about this (apart from all of the abuse and suffering these women - and in one case, a child, had to go through) is how any support for Brand or those seeking to minimise or make light of the serious accusations on social media actually makes it worse for victims to come forward. I think as others have already said it speaks to how - in ALL parts of life - abusers can become enabled by the structures of the system that surround them (success, money etc.) by making themselves an integral part of that system. I don't condemn ppl for not doing more because in the end abusers will always find a way to manipulate and control those they need to in order to survive. This is just a depressing reality, but we can and should make it easier for victims to be heard and taken seriously. The irony of the Met Police urging victims of sexual assault to come forward tho..

From the album tracks I think I'm loving “She’s on My Mind” the most, absolute disco BANGER. *.* Solid album tho, perfectly captures the vibe that she was going for I think (lonely on the dancefloor/sad bangers energy), though I think it does lack a massive standout that ticks all the boxes and goes in hard. “Strong” gets the closest.
  17. Love that whole Top 5 and very pleased to be 3rd in such a strong competition! Thanks for hosting Wardy, you did a great job - sorry that I wasn't able to be here for the results. I discovered that crushed track just before the contest and was sold from about 20 seconds in when that lush synth lead crashes in, I'm happy that so many others also enjoyed it also. The lyrics in particular just drew me in. Shame that Have A Nice Life just missed out but I did everything I could to support it for the win so I won't feel too guilty at it missing out, and many congrats to Suedey ofc! We would be lost without you, don't apologise x

  20. Voted! Quite a strong contest, there were a few I wanted to give points to but couldn't quite squeeze them in unfortch. Looking forward to finding out who sent what.

Remix of 2022 single “Wall Of Sleep” by Harvey McKay which uses the same pads/stabs as Gat Decor's 1992 smasha “Passion” <3 I really like it, but I feel it could have way more potential if the idea had been developed a bit further. 8sAGiEMoDUs
  22. Sorry Wardy - had a really long week at work with multiple 5.30am starts so I've not had time to really settle and give these the full attention that they deserve. I have already done a few listenthroughs, but do want to have a couple more before I finalise the ordering of my votes. I'm out tomorrow but I promise that I'll have them for you by Sunday evening at the latest.

  24. It's very 'Pages From Ceefax-core'... but I did like a couple of the singles that 6Music were playing over recent years! Congrats to them tho, an incredible achievement against such strong competition.
