  1. Sorry Steve, I meant to reply sooner! It's less to do with different pay for the same role, but essentially was part of an archaic government mandated pay progression scheme, which essentially rewards length of service over contribution. This penalises those who take either part-time work due to caring commitments or maternity leave- which disproportionately affects women. Gender pay gap is not just about that but also about the proportion of those in more senior roles and how unbalanced that has become, with shift work (nights etc.) tending to filter out women before they reach the Chief Meteorologist role - I think there has only ever been 2 women working at that level in over 150 years (!) Though we do now have a woman as Chief Exec.- Penny Endersby..
  2. Ooh, hope u enjoyed it. “Baianá” serving as a perfect mid-autumn jungle anthem.
  3. Well the irony-o-meter has really just blown up in the last few days now that Graham Norton has been 'cancelled' by those complaining about 'cancel culture'. I think he made a pretty good point about how we should when discussing trans issues maybe listen and talk to the trans community. Graham 'bin fire' Linehan getting involved as well- the man has descended into complete 100% transphobia and hatred, destroying his life, and for what? Absolutely beyond deranged.

  5. Well done (for volunteering to fund BJSC FM for the next year) ! x
  6. Yay! So happy that Simz won - I've grown to love and appreciate the album so much more over this past year.. I watched the whole thing this evening on BBC Four and was rooting for her so it was great to see her win live. It was a shame that Self Esteem missed out with what would have in any other year easily have been a very worthy winner, that was also a great album with some fantastic singles.. @1087370289258921985
  7. @1581750877865807872 Love to see it! @1581759635308314625 Priti fucking useless losing her seat as well. I mean, that would be a moment!
  8. FINALLY. Also, Four Tet influence. *.* @1580572407189807105
  9. Oooh, in that case I'll PM you the track- I reckon you'll know it, but it's a bit of overlooked and forgotten gem- total hands-in-the-air piano house rammer. *.*
  10. @1581624402911047681 Liz is running the government via a BURNER phone. Likely to be out before the end of the month I think, Tories in full out internal war over the weekend with Javid being briefed against. Incredible scenes. Jamie Wallis calling for her to resign (along with a number of other Tory MPs now) @1581700889102123009

  12. Oh I wonder if this is what I think it is, did it chart in 1995? It's on my potentials too if so and is an absolute BANGER. I look forward to a Fljótavík edit.
  13. ^ Agreed - nobody except us geriatric millennials will know it and the point of these contests is to help the majority make music discoveries and sharing music you love. You've nothing to apologise for! Thank you for hosting the contest and for putting together the recap video (great news about Vimeo too) - this theme is very much something I'm here for - particularly for this time of year.. Avril 14th... I'm very much looking forward to chilling out to this playlist, will be very nice company to soundtrack my brief few days in the Scottish Borders next week. : )

  17. yep released without sample clearance ..after Thomas said 'make sure you clear the sample and don't credit me'..
  18. So Robin Schulz is essentially Eric Prydz and Southstar is Thomas Bangalter. I mean, essentially right? Bit grotty if this is what has happened given that Southstar is an up and coming producer rather than someone already well established. wyYAiU4DKUY
  19. Hi Kath. Ooh, a recap video! *.* Thanks for putting that together! I'm quite enjoying the new Bonobo single, it's a little bit of a different direction but I like that. So many great tracks in that Top 10, I hadn't heard that new Elkka track but it sounds really good on first listen.. rest of the 10 absolutely stacked with bangers - “B.O.T.A.”, “Blind Date”, “Dancing In The Shadows”, “Shlut”, “Wall Of Sleep” and - ofc “Lock&Key” - which hopefully will continue your unstoppable Top 10 run in BJSC later. Hope you have a grreat week : )
  20. Hey Jade, hope you've had a great weekend. Just popping in to say that I am loving “Push” rn, I had heard Gabe on 6Music a few times through the summer but never caught the name of the track, so thanks for helping me (through your recap chart) to rediscover that one! The new Christine and the Queens single is brilliant- love the production in it and the lyrics are so beautiful. Daniel Avery continues the hot streak that he is on with yet another banger, really looking forward to that album now, not much longer to wait. Also enjoying the new ones from Shygirl, Sasha & Sentre, Röyksopp, and Bicep/Clara La San and that Southstar track is also really good on first listen.
  21. Great to see this return to the Top 40. *.* “Hello (Turn Your Radio On)” remains an absolute gem, 'another war and now the £ is looking weak' hitting hard this month ! W97iMbI6dgM

Had high expectations going in to this and I wasn't at all disappointed- for a debut this has a remarkably clear vision and the varied production is just spot-on throughout. I'm not totally sure it flows all that well but that may just be me getting used to the album. Anyway, really enjoying “Woe”, “Shlut”, “Honey” and “Poison” - there aren't really any duds here and not a minute is wasted- really impressed. Who knew we needed an accordion hook in 2k22? It's the BBC friendly title for “Shlut” x Actually I think it was “Nike” I wasn't really listening properly when they played it earlier.
  23. Thanks Rob for a flawless presentation, a shame that “The Day the World Turned Day-Glo” couldn't quite get it, nor the Sims theme but at least we got the reinterpretation of the Mortal Kombat theme and lots of other great Qs by the looks of it.
  24. Highest ever lead (25%) for Labour at Savanta ComRes today, that's since it was founded 19 years ago in 2003. @1576963829753430016
  25. Exactly, it can all be traced back to 2010-2015. The time for borrowing to invest instead of cutting public services was during the early 2010s to spur on growth and keep the economy from petering out. But instead we had a constant media barrage telling us that the public finances were like a households credit card and completely ignoring the fact that the bond markets (at the time) were more than happy to allow governments to borrow at near 0% rates if used wisely. I'm sure that there is definitely a case for restraining public spending and cutting out unnecessary waste but some of the cuts to vital services were so unfairly targeted and deeply damaging as to be counterproductive.. with any savings made more than wiped out by the future costs required to rectify the situation. Anyway, I'm so used to U-turns now that this is hardly even that noteworthy, yes it's good news obviously, but it's also great because it'll upset the gammons at the IEA who think as a society we need to prioritise those earning over £150K who apparently need an extra £5K to £50K+ every year. It's also good because it has immediately burnt some of Liz Truss' vital political capital, and trust on economics is almost impossible to win back. Also, Dan Wooton is about as relevant or serious as Mr Blobby. Given the Daily Mail (last I checked they were the 'media establishment') trumpeted 'Finally A Real Tory Budget' I think we can just about dismiss this as deluded nonsense (as with everything he says). Yes, it should be called out - but personally I wouldn't even bother paying attention to it, other than to tell him to fuck off back to New Zealand.
