Hoping to have some votes together by the end of the weekend; I've been really enjoying having this soundtrack my few days in the Scottish Borders, a few strong favourites have emerged but I'm gonna give them a few more listens before I make my final decision. One in particular sounds like a chilled version of BT's “Flaming June”* which I realised I had already bought several years ago after discovering via Netflix. *.*
*Yeah I think that I meant Chicane's “Offshore”, but I seem to always get those two mixed up ! Balearic bliss and the dawn of commercial Trance in the Top 40.

I've been asked if ppl can tone down the swearing a bit please- I know this is ironic coming from me in the past few days, but still - try to avoid unnecessary swearing if at all possible.
and on that topic-

^Exactly - I agree with all of the above. It's insane to me that there can be any other conclusion as to what Graham said there (unless being disingenuous)- which was to put a very restrained, articulate and succinct point across without seeking to drive further division. The people that moan loudest about being 'cancelled' for their 'wrong' opinion are the ones that never seem to stop going on about it and become fixated and obsessed with the topic because they cannot accept that the general consensus of the population disagrees with them, and they do this to the point where it becomes the ONLY thing that they use their platform for. Yet despite this, they are essentially freely able to spout their horrible, hateful, transphobic garbage. However, the point that Graham Norton made was that there is accountability for what they say, free speech is a right but it has limits, universally acknowledged and accepted like incitement, hate speech, libel etc. The consequences that come as a result: court cases for libel, fewer book sales, fewer public bookings, increased hostility etc. are I'm afraid something that cannot be shouted away - the opinions can and should be heard and debated in a free society, but I am sick of a minority being thrown under the bus because of people's ignorance and prejudice disguised under an ulterior motive.
Anyway, Owen Jones gave a pretty good and passionate speech tonight on the topic...

Can I ask why on Earth do male and female meteorologists get different pay in the first place??
Sorry Steve, I meant to reply sooner!
It's less to do with different pay for the same role, but essentially was part of an archaic government mandated pay progression scheme, which essentially rewards length of service over contribution. This penalises those who take either part-time work due to caring commitments or maternity leave- which disproportionately affects women. Gender pay gap is not just about that but also about the proportion of those in more senior roles and how unbalanced that has become, with shift work (nights etc.) tending to filter out women before they reach the Chief Meteorologist role - I think there has only ever been 2 women working at that level in over 150 years (!) Though we do now have a woman as Chief Exec.- Penny Endersby..

Well the irony-o-meter has really just blown up in the last few days now that Graham Norton has been 'cancelled' by those complaining about 'cancel culture'.
I think he made a pretty good point about how we should when discussing trans issues maybe listen and talk to the trans community.
Graham 'bin fire' Linehan getting involved as well- the man has descended into complete 100% transphobia and hatred, destroying his life, and for what? Absolutely beyond deranged.

Yay! So happy that Simz won - I've grown to love and appreciate the album so much more over this past year.. I watched the whole thing this evening on BBC Four and was rooting for her so it was great to see her win live. It was a shame that Self Esteem missed out with what would have in any other year easily have been a very worthy winner, that was also a great album with some fantastic singles..

A poll by Opinium for the Trades Union Congress using the MRP method to estimate constituency-level results, projected a 1997-style landslide for Labour, with the party winning 411 seats.
It suggests the Conservatives would lose 219 seats to end up on 137, with the Liberal Democrats on 39 seats and SNP on 37, with 10 cabinet ministers including Jeremy Hunt, Jacob Rees-Mogg, and Thérèse Coffey losing their seats in a general election, along with former prime minister Boris Johnson.
Love to see it!
Priti fucking useless losing her seat as well. I mean, that would be a moment!

I don't think it is... I don't know what year it came out but I don't think it charted in 1995. I am however now most intrigued as to what track you're thinking of...
Oooh, in that case I'll PM you the track- I reckon you'll know it, but it's a bit of overlooked and forgotten gem- total hands-in-the-air piano house rammer. *.*

Liz is running the government via a BURNER phone.
Likely to be out before the end of the month I think, Tories in full out internal war over the weekend with Javid being briefed against. Incredible scenes.
Jamie Wallis calling for her to resign (along with a number of other Tory MPs now)

^ Agreed - nobody except us geriatric millennials will know it and the point of these contests is to help the majority make music discoveries and sharing music you love. You've nothing to apologise for!
Thank you for hosting the contest and for putting together the recap video (great news about Vimeo too) - this theme is very much something I'm here for - particularly for this time of year.. Avril 14th... I'm very much looking forward to chilling out to this playlist, will be very nice company to soundtrack my brief few days in the Scottish Borders next week. : )

Singer Rex Orange County is to stand trial after being charged with six counts of sexually assaulting a woman. The chart-topping singer-songwriter, real name Alexander O'Connor, from Surrey, appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Monday.
He pleaded not guilty to the allegations of intentional touching of a sexual nature without consent, and his trial was scheduled for 3 January.
Mr O'Connor's third studio album went to number one in the UK this March.
"Alex is shocked by the allegations which he denies and looks forward to clearing his name in court," a statement issued on his behalf said.
"He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings."
The Sun reported that the assaults were alleged to have taken place in a taxi and his London home in early June.
The following month, the singer posted a message saying he was cancelling his European, Australian and New Zealand tour dates because, "due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I am having to spend some time at home this year".
He has been released on unconditional bail until the trial.

Hi Kath. Ooh, a recap video! *.* Thanks for putting that together! I'm quite enjoying the new Bonobo single, it's a little bit of a different direction but I like that.
So many great tracks in that Top 10, I hadn't heard that new Elkka track but it sounds really good on first listen.. rest of the 10 absolutely stacked with bangers - “B.O.T.A.”, “Blind Date”, “Dancing In The Shadows”, “Shlut”, “Wall Of Sleep” and - ofc “Lock&Key” - which hopefully will continue your unstoppable Top 10 run in BJSC later. Hope you have a grreat week : )

Hey Jade, hope you've had a great weekend. Just popping in to say that I am loving “Push” rn, I had heard Gabe on 6Music a few times through the summer but never caught the name of the track, so thanks for helping me (through your recap chart) to rediscover that one!
The new Christine and the Queens single is brilliant- love the production in it and the lyrics are so beautiful. Daniel Avery continues the hot streak that he is on with yet another banger, really looking forward to that album now, not much longer to wait. Also enjoying the new ones from Shygirl, Sasha & Sentre, Röyksopp, and Bicep/Clara La San and that Southstar track is also really good on first listen.
