Yep, as Britster says, it's a historical thing with the chart week running 00:01 Monday to midnight Sunday (with charts published the following Thursday) there rather than from 00:01 Sunday to midnight Saturday like it is here. Though there is something quite satisfying about getting an album 1 day before the US - or at least, it used to be, before 2001 when everyone had already illegally downloaded it anyway. :(
-
^Well I think it is really strong. Obviously I've only listened to it once through so it will be difficult to form a full opinion, so I'd give it another chance Ben. "All Your Gold" probably being the stand-out, it grows more and more on me each week; but there are clearly gonna be some absolutely massive growers here. The songs are more focussed than her previous albums and built more around hooks so I could see it doing well commercially, or at least being a minor hit.

Surprisingly good. The last Muse album I bought was 'Black Holes & Revelations' which, despite cracker singles, contained a lot of unconvincing filler. This one is a lot more consistent. Yes, it does sound an AWFUL LOT like Queen in places, but it's a great record. Panic Station is my favourite song from the record. Who would've thought that Muse would go all Faith No More on us?
An awful lot like Queen indeed.... In "Explorers" Matt sounds like he's about to break into "Don't Stop Me Now" at 0:17 !

Turns out it wasn't timed perfectly for my Cornwall trip after all but still stupidly excited about the e-mail to tell me my vinyl edition has dispatched. Hand made fanzine must live up to expectations! :D
Aw, sorry about that. Seems he decided to delay it slightly.
Very excited about getting my hands on it tomorrow. "Overture" appears to have been released as a single to promote the new album, always was one of my absolute favourites from The Magic Position (great album opener) and so I am glad it has finally got the single treatment with this lovely acoustic version:

:o A new Pains of Being Pure at Heart single! Why hadn't I heard this!? Nice cover/track though, it sounds very 90s. Original was by Magnetic Fields..
Anyway great to see Natasha Khan at No.1, how many has she chalked up now? :P She keeps peaking at No.2 on mine lately, can't wait for the album next week - think it'll be a great third album from what I've heard so far - and the interviews she's done.
What an impressive run for (no pun intended) "Run Boy Run". Two stints in the Top 10, it's currently sitting in my Top 10 of the year due to it's great longevity on my chart also. I wonder how any follow-up might do!
Also liking Paloma's cover of "Never Tear Us Apart" at the mo. Can't beat the INXS original though. :P
-
Hey there!
Great to see "Wildest Moments" at No.1. Really sad that it only peaked at No.46 in the UK. :( Have you got the album? It's a shame that she left "Strangest Feeling" off, as it is one of my favourite tracks - but the power punch of the first 3 tracks is amazing, and "110%" remains one of my favourite moments of the year by FAR.
I also love that AlunaGeorge track which is a discovery for me.
Lovely to see "The Waves" climb into the Top 5, I can't wait to hear the rest of the album next year! Great to see Jake Bugg, iamamiwhoami, Unicorn Kid, and First Aid Kit debut as well.

Danny's Chart: 7th October 2012
Since it is coming up to my 4 years anniversary of posting on BuzzJack, I thought it would be apt to show you my chart from 4 years ago to see what I was listening to - and the original chart commentary from that week. This week's follows:
Grizzly Bear continue atop the chart for a fourth consecutive week with "Yet Again", the second single to be taken from their new album Shields, and it is likely that they will spend a couple more weeks up top as the song is fast becoming one of my favourite singles of the year. Bad luck then for Kindness who with "That's Alright" jumping 3-2, become the latest artist to take the runners-up slot, taking over from previous holder Frank Ocean with "Pyramids" - that single dropping 1 place to No. 3 this week. Villagers, who follow-up 2010s critically acclaimed Becoming A Jackal with Awayland in January 2013, continue to make a strong leap up the chart with "Waves" improving 9-4 for the Irish band fronted by Conor J. O'Brien.
The rest of the Top 10 is fairly quiet this week only 1 other climber from Dan Croll ("From Nowhere" up 8-5), and just 2 new songs breaking in - they come from Van She and Toy (who both get their debut Top 10 hits) with "Jamaica" and "Lose My Way" inching up 12-8 and 14-9 respectively. Toy previous made the Top 20 this year with "Motoring" (#13 in May).
There are 7 new entries this week, including a chart debut for CHVRCHES.

RETRO TOP 20: 4 YEARS AGO (5 October 2008)
So it's a second week at number 1 for St Albans band Friendly Fires. "Jump In The Pool" is now 10 weeks old and looks vulnerable as it finds itself leading a very strong pack of new singles, which will provide a very competitive chart next week. MGMT's "Kids" (5-2), James Yuill's "This Sweet Love" (7-3) and Tilly and the Wall's "Beat Control" (6-4) all look to battle it out to snatch the #1 slot next Sunday. The Kings of Leon are a casualty of this strong top end of the chart and duly drop 3 places to #5 after spending a fortnight in the runner's-up slot. Bloc Party return to the Top Ten for the first time since "Flux" in November 2007, after "Mercury" flopped in what was their poorest performing single on my chart back in August (#25). "Talons" - the second single to be taken from forthcoming Third set Intimacy jumps 17-10. Laura Marling returns to the Top Twenty this week with "Night Terror" (jumping 24-13) hoping to replicate the success of previous singles "Ghosts" and "Cross Your Fingers" (both #2 hits) taken from the Mercury nominated Alas, I Cannot Swim. Late of the Pier had two huge hits over the summer on my chart with "Space and the Woods", and more recently "Heartbeat" (#3 in August) - that single slips 11 places to #33 this week - however new single "Bathroom Gurgle" due 27 Oct is this week's highest climber, up 20 places to #20 and rounds out the Top Twenty.

Loads of great No.1's here, we of course share Gorillaz, Foster The People, The Drums, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Horrors and Radiohead. Summer 2011 was a very competitive time on the chart, it was a shame M83 missed out here - but they almost did on mine too because of all the other great songs around at that time ("Shuffle" and "Still Life").
2 of your No.1's were also sitting at my No.2 at the time.. "Blueberry" by Late Of The Pier and "Shake It Out" by Florence + The Machine (who was unlucky to have had 3 weeks at No.2)
I regret not charting Villagers to No.1 in 2010, "Becoming A Jackal" is brilliant.
-
You've got a great taste in music! :D
Looking at your wonderful list i kinda sorry that some of your No.1's didn't reached the top of my Chart. At least, JAMES BLAKE and M83 really should have done it.
What year did you start compiling your Charts?
Hey thanks, just had a look at your No.1's thread and we share quite a few!
Have been compiling the chart since I was 13, in 1999. But it's only been expanded to a Top 50 since July 2006.

Listening to his album, I wouldn't be surprised if Richard Hawley got an 'Elbow win'. Probably not his strongest work, but once again incredibly consistent and different enough to previous efforts, would certainly be deserved recognition for what he's done in the past decade rather than this album necessarily....
"Somebody call 999, Richard Hawley's been robbed" :P
I think now that it's between Ben Howard and Jessie Ware. Fingers crossed it is Jessie's. :D

I hope this can land Adele with a another number 1 single, this will boost sales of 21 as it brings back into full attention again. I have the same question Umi as in could 21 get a re-release including this and possibly another song or 2 or live tracks which seem popular among Adele fans at the moment.
Adele doesn't believe in re-releases and I would doubt very much that XL will go against her as they are a good record company that allow artists the freedom they want. So I would not expect a re-release (thankfully).
