DNQ: The Actual Republic of Bellamia ~ Claire Rosinkranz “Frankenstein”
DNQ: Cadelicia ~ Isabella Lovestory “Mariposa”
We're looking at the 23rd place finishers in both Semis here now before we get to the final 16 - we lose TARO Bellamia and unfortunately Cadelicia too who are stung by the late voting 15% penalty. :(
SEMI 1:

COME TO DADDY
Final set of Qs to be revealed here before we go into the final 16 - Aphex Twin here and “Come To Daddy” remains by far the music video most likely to scare the living daylights out of me and is something that I have only watched once for fear of the nightmares it'll give me again// Love the music though.. imagine being in the chart thread for when “Windowlicker” went T20 in 1999. *.* Great to see Dobago through - it'd be rude not to quite frankly, and Violet Chachki & Allie X too which was another highlight and who Q for Aesthetica.
26: Dobago ~ Ana Criado “Can't Hold Back The Rain [stoneface & Terminal Remix]”
Current Q Streak: 1
27: Lookylion ~ Helene Fischer ft. Luis Fonsi “Vamos A Marte”
Current Q Streak: 3
28: Aesthetica ~ Violet Chachki & Allie X “Mistress Violet”
Current Q Streak: 1
29: Aquafina ~ Zeds Dead & MKLA “Alive”
Current Q Streak: 2

DNQ: POPHub ~ SUNMI “You Can't Sit With Us”
DNQ: Sovarasma ~ BATHSHEBA “Fighting For Your Love”
Here we lose the other K-Pop track which was divorced from its counterpart in 137 and posts a similar result, we also sadly lose Sovarasma who do not extend their record Q streak to 3 but narrowly DNQ with BATHSHEBA.
SEMI 2:
24 POPHub ~ SUNMI “You Can't Sit With Us” (42 - more 12s)
25 Sovarasma ~ BATHSHEBA “Fighting For Your Love” (42)
26 D'yermak'er ~ Leith “Love Vibes” (33.5)
27 Séyetana~ Blood Command “A Villain's Monologue” (31)
28 Skall ~ Leon Vynehall “Midnight On Rainbow Road” (27.2)
29 Tartford ~ Madleen Kane “You Can [Razormaid Remix]” (25)
-
DNQ: Danæviia ~ EMBRZ ft. Lizzy Land “Where You Are”
DNQ: Lotunia ~ Girls' Generation “All Night”
The dance heaviness of the Semi now starts to bite with not enough room in the final sadly for Danæviia's 99th entrant EMBRZ, and K-Pop may be having an off month with Girls' Generation failing to last all night.
SEMI 1:
24 Danæviia ~ EMBRZ ft. Lizzy Land “Where You Are” (39)
25 Lotunia ~ Girls' Generation “All Night” (31)
26 Suedeonia ~ Mr Ben & The Bens “On The Beach” (27)
27 Harmonica ~ Neon Dreams ft. Kardinal Offishall “Marching Bands” (26)
28 Wholune ~ Dani Harmer “Free” (21)
29 East Rukahavian ~ Husman “Who You Are” (17)

SUPERSTAR DJ
Another trip back to 1991 now with DJ Carl Cox and his biggest T40 hit from October 91 “I Want You (Forever)”. This is turning out to be quite a dance heavy final which of course I approve of muchly. Here we have some early 2000s trance from The Mystery providing a Q for Summericia, some beautiful melodic house for Kluminican Republic and you can never rule out Buzzjack Mountain - they Q with Hazmusic's “Delight”. We also have the oldest track here in the contest Cora's 1980s synthpop “Amsterdam” Q for FSR Rontvia. Congrats all !
22: Summericia ~ The Mystery “All I Ever Wanted (Devotion)”
Current Q Streak: 2
23: Kluminican Republic ~ Ben Böhmer, Nils Hoffmann & Malou “Breathing”
Current Q Streak: 1
24: Buzzjack Mountain ~ Hazmusic “Delight”
Current Q Streak: 1
25: FSR Rontvia ~ Cora “Amsterdam”
Current Q Streak: 4

RAVE QUEEN
Felt quite appropriate to have The Blessed Madonna to introduce these next tracks - from the trance vibes provided by FARC and N DNTN in Semi 1 to the breakbeat 90s house of Irish DJ Uncle Knows provided by Thelonia in Semi 2. Also great to see some more pop punk through for Flynnonda who Q with Hot Milk's “I Think I Hate Myself”.
17: FARC ~ S7RENS “Euro Visions”
Current Q Streak: 7
18: N DNTN ~ Himera “You Make It Look So Easy (S.M.I.L.E.Y)”
Current Q Streak: 2
19: Flynnonda ~ Hot Milk “I Think I Hate Myself”
Current Q Streak: 1
20: Thelonia ~ Uncle Knows “Hypa”
Current Q Streak: 1

Hendinia's Q streak should be 17! Thought 'Piece Of Work' was a pretty strong pop entry (obviously not a big fave for myself but I do like it more than I feel like I should x) so no surprise at it easing through even with the deduction.
Yes, apols. Your spreadsheet was correct, my Mac just hadn't caught up...
DNQ: D'yermak'er ~ Leith “Love Vibes”
DNQ: Séyetana ~ Blood Command “A Villain's Monologue”
: (( Feel incredibly bad to see these both out, although FTR D'yermak'er would still fail to qualify even without a late/failure to vote penalty but it's still sad to lose Leith. Also not here for losing the Norwegian rock of Blood Command.
SEMI 2:
26 D'yermak'er ~ Leith “Love Vibes” (33.5)
27 Séyetana~ Blood Command “A Villain's Monologue” (31)
28 Skall ~ Leon Vynehall “Midnight On Rainbow Road” (27.2)
29 Tartford ~ Madleen Kane “You Can [Razormaid Remix]” (25)
-
DNQ: Suedeonia ~ Mr Ben & The Bens “On The Beach”
DNQ: Harmonica ~ Neon Dreams ft. Kardinal Offishall “Marching Bands”
It did seem like a long shot but sadly Mr Ben & The Bens have failed to progress along with Neon Dreams for Harmonica, in particular the two biggest fans of the former gave it almost 3/4 of its total points in the Semi.
SEMI 1:
26 Suedeonia ~ Mr Ben & The Bens “On The Beach” (27)
27 Harmonica ~ Neon Dreams ft. Kardinal Offishall “Marching Bands” (26)
28 Wholune ~ Dani Harmer “Free” (21)
29 East Rukahavian ~ Husman “Who You Are” (17)

GODFATHER OF HOUSE
Despite his huge influence within the Chicago House movement of the early 1980s, record producer and DJ Frankie Knuckles has only made the UK Top 20 once- 30 years ago in the summer of '91 with “The Whistle Song”, which is pleasant enough but hardly the most representative of the work he's produced over the years. Here we have another 4 more lucky nations qualifying including Hendinia who didn't even have to turn up to get through. Outrageous behaviour, I love it! Quite a mix of genres and styles on offer here from Hildegard next to Loren Gray and the pop punk of Stand Atlantic next to SWIM!
13: Persephonia ~ Hildegard “Jour 1”
Current Q Streak: 6
14: Hendinia ~ Loren Gray “Piece Of Work”
Current Q Streak: 17
15: Taahino ~ Stand Atlantic ft. nothing, nowhere. “deathwish”
Current Q Streak: 1
16: Kathaldazia ~ SWIM “No More Tears”
Current Q Streak: 1

LET'S DANCE
Of his 1983 UK #1 smash “Let’s Dance” - Bowie allegedly said to the legendary Nile Rodgers: “Nile darling, I think I have a song which feels like a hit”. Here we are then, finding freedom in the realms of eccentricity. I wonder what The Thin White Duke would have made of the BuzzJack Song Contest. I expect he’d very much approve actually - and despite the apparent shock displayed by Bowie in this photo, it’s not that much of a shock that these 4 nations have indeed qualified.
09: Cor Lupus ~ AVIRA & Diana Miro “The Worship [Mark Knight Remix]”
Current Q Streak: 6
10: Trifoski ~ Erika De Casier “Busy”
Current Q Streak: 2
11: Niceland ~ Declan McKenna “Humongous”
Current Q Streak: 2
12: Land of DW ~ MitiS ft. SOUNDR “Homesick”
Current Q Streak: 4
Poor Cor Lupas flopping again, 6th time in a row... when will it end?! :drama:
Best news here (apart from Trifoski getting Erika de Casier's 2-step UK garage vibes through obvs) is obviously Declan McKenna through for Niceland !!

DNQ: Skall ~ Leon Vynehall “Midnight On Rainbow Road”
DNQ: Tartford ~ Madleen Kane “You Can [Razormaid Remix]”
Poor Harve, I think Leon Vynehall sufferred massively from 'wrong semi syndrome', it's probably way too subtle to pick up casual votes - I wanted to so desperately help out. : ( We also lose the Razormaid Remix of Madleen Kane's 1981 Giorgio Moroder produced disco classic “You Can” here.
SEMI 2:
28 Skall ~ Leon Vynehall “Midnight On Rainbow Road” (27.2)
29 Tartford ~ Madleen Kane “You Can [Razormaid Remix]” (25)
-
DNQ: Wholune ~ Dani Harmer “Free”
DNQ: East Rukahavian ~ Husman “Who You Are”
Not much love for Dani Harmer here (aka Tracy Beaker) nor sadly for Dutch DJ Husman. Both are the first to DNQ for Wholune and East Rukahavian respectively in Semi 1.
SEMI 1:
28 Wholune ~ Dani Harmer “Free” (21)
29 East Rukahavian ~ Husman “Who You Are” (17)

MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO
Well in 1991 I would say he was definitely better known as ‘Ted’ from ‘Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure’ and there’s not really a music connection here per se, except I guess for the fact that Keanu Reeves was once the bassist in Dogstar (1991-1992) and now likes to bang out the tunes and DJ for himself until 4am (a man after my own heart!). Furthermore, River’s band Aleka’s Attic recorded an album (Zero/Never Odd Or Even) which was sadly lost to time. No, I just happen to really like Keanu and River Phoenix and think that their campfire scene in My Own Private Idaho is IMO one of the most heartbreaking scenes ever put out to cinema release. But there is no heartbreak here for these 4 nations, they’ve only gone and qualified.. “bodacious”.
05: Varakë ~ SICKOTOY, Elvana Gjata & INNA “Papa”
Current Q Streak: 4 *** NEW RECORD *** :cheer:
06: Aeroche ~ Deekline “Be Happy”
Current Q Streak: 14
07: Cumulonimbia ~ Lanark Artefax “Touch Absence”
Current Q Streak: 3
08: Utopia ~ Desire Marea “Tavern Kween”
Current Q Streak: 1
P.S. Thank you! I really didn't expect to Q so I'm kinda shocked. Utopia through too ! *.*

FUTURE SOUNDS
Irish DJ Annie Mac recently bid an emotional farewell to R1 listeners after broadcasting on the station for 17 years. For reference: that’s actually longer than it has taken Bré to count down his favourite songs of 2020. x Future Sounds went out weekday evenings and championed a veritable feast of new music from a wide variety of genres and was at the forefront of the stations remit to promote exciting new talents. However, we’re more interested here in her Friday night Dance Party of course. The party isn’t quite over for these 4 nations though, they’ve all made qualification. Congrats !
01: Terra Avium ~ Midnight Danger “To The Shadows And Back”
Current Q Streak: 4
02: Ultraviolenceland ~ MICHAELA “Tears In My Eyes”
Current Q Streak: 3
03: Aelandor ~ Arwelone ft. High Fantasy “Strange Symmetry”
Current Q Streak: 1
04: #00274E ~ Hanne Mjøen “Emotional Fever”
Current Q Streak: 4

Hello! I’m a bit nervous about presenting the results, mainly because I don’t really know what the conventions are, what I’m doing, nor how much I’m going to inadvertently give people stress or upset ppl so please bear with me and know that I am trying my best.
Anyway I’ve quadruple checked both the votes and tabulated results, and can (mostly) confidently say that we unequivocally have 36 Qs and 22 DNQs plus an AQ. Thank you for taking part and for sending some great tracks that matched the ethos and vibe that we were trying to go for with this contest. I really appreciated it and I hope you enjoyed listening along too. I’m sorry to those who are going to be missing out on progressing to the After Party Final.
Things I can confirm: BuzzJack Mountain have voted. There is a tie between 18th/19th place in one of the Semi-Finals. The following reprobates drank too much in the club, passed out on the dance floor and failed to vote:
★ Hendinia
★ D'yermak'er
A penalty of 33% will be applied, and this will be deducted from their final point total(s).
So, what nations record crate finds filled the dance floor, and what setlist tunes took that Cascada number 1 from 2009 quite literally and cleared the dance floor? Find out, at 6* maybe see u then?
*Appreciate that I’ll be competing with the chart update’s exciting reveal as to whether Ed Sheeran is still trolling Adelita by spending a 9th consecutive week at number 1 and whether Queen’s Greatest Hits will be in the Top 100 for a 960th week, but I’m willing to take that gamble/ happy enough talking to myself.
-
Ooh, thanks for putting this up Leww!
Just here to remind you fashionably late ppl that you've got just less than one Martian day* left to vote.
*approx. 24 hours and 40 minutes
I will be quite chill about late votes and probably not be in any FIT STATE to look at this until well past midday on Sunday but don't dawdle please because a hungover DB trying to tabulate votes is a stressed DB. : (

The piano in this is SO early 1990s and I love it! It's a bit True Faith “Take Me Away” except a bit more accessible.
Is it the same Deekline that had a #11 hit in 2000 with “I Don't Smoke” (Discogs says yes) ?? I remember when VIBE FM launched in East Anglia back in the late 1990s and they played it pretty much non-stop !

BJSC 137 - Desire Marea - Tavern Kween
Representing Utopia in Cumulonimbia this month is South African artist Deisre Marea with his current single Tavern Kween, a synthpop gem sung in native Zulu language. I'd like to think it can be Utopia's best performing entry of the year so far, not the strongest of targets but we shall see!
This deserves to smash hard! I love it Mark - a synth-heavy banger that's perfect for the dance floor. *.*

Unless you count their Paul Van Dyk feature in 2000, Saint Etienne never had a T10 hit in their own right and yet side-project Cola Boy managed to get there with ease. Closest they got otherwise was with “He's On The Phone” in November 1995 (#11) and that was thanks mainly due to the Motiv8 mix.
I like it but I've never been able to love “7 Ways To Love”, always feels like I should love it more than I do.
BJSC 137: CXXXVII ~ SEMI-FINAL RESULTS ~
in BuzzJack Song Contest
Just to build the suspence unnecessarily for a bit longer.. Rebecca Ferguson bows out for Hushkanukia in 20th. By the way the 18th placed nation scored 52 so the tie is NOT in this Semi.
