I think Becky is great and has put out some great tracks over the past few years, and whilst I like this, I can't see it being a massive hit and I'm not sure if it will be intended to be either. It maybe just something for her fans whilst she's away creating this Summer's dance banger?

I thought 'Gimme' was a promo track not an offical single hence it's lack of airplay and support? I guess it's just a track RMC like that they wanted to select for their record of the week, I wouldn't read too much into it.

I'd say he had a very good 2022. Number 1 album which is still in the current album chart and has sold rather well considering alot of albums tend to fall away very fast after their debut week as a long running Top 20 and Top 5 hit single. I'm not too sure if the Christmas invasion hampered 'Dance All Over Me', but it still had good radio airplay and seemed to help the album sell through the autumn and Christmas period, not to mention he gets invited on the top TV shows to perform.

Think it depends on how much their music appeals to 15-29 year olds Radio 1 heavily target. I can name quite a few acts over 40 they still heavily support so I don't feel they're as bad with this ageism thing as they were about 10 years ago.

TikTok Takeover planned for Christmas Day at BBC Radio 1 There will be 29 new presenters on BBC Radio 1 this Christmas in addition to a TikTok Takeover on Christmas Day. Ten TikTok’ers will host half an hour each between 2pm and 6pm. This is in addition to the station’s annual Christmas Presenter initiative from Boxing Day to New Year’s Day 2023 Fats Timbo, Watson D.Hirschfield, Anastasia Kingsnorth, Chewkz, George and Joe Baggs, Maddie Grace Jepson, Kyron Hamilton, Madeline Argy, Max Fosh and Max Balegde will take to the airwaves. I'm surprised they A Listed Calvin. 'Obsessed' as nice as it is abit of a nothing song imo. Think I would have A Listed Ed instead of booting him off tbh. Great to see Schak added. One of my favourite dance hits of the moment.

Think it’s a traditional thing for artists to want their music to be on the Radio 1 playlist. Even thought it doesn’t guarantee you a hit in the same way it used to it’s still a dream come true for many.
