  2. They'll probably spend the next week replaying the Big weekend live recordings so no point really. I'm pleased to hear they have been spot playing Calvin Harris over the past week even if its not on the formal playlist as yet. Heard it a few times when I've been listening through the week.

I totally agree with you on that Lewis. I tend to tune in now and then to the decades stations and even then I don't find myself listening too long. The brand is aiming to bring you a mix of familiar well known tracks, mainly targeted to females aged 25-44.

So the Heart brand as a whole set of stations combined (which includes listeners from their decades and Dance station) has more than R2 rather than that main station itself.
  5. BH Monday will be the best of the Big Weekend and they'll spend the week playing recordings of tracks from the weekend probably to Friday 30th May when they'll refresh the playlist again. Calvin Harris is the only major track they have missed out on so far. I guess it'll have some plays on the dance shows this weekend which is something.
  6. Great! Not! Guess for the week leading up it'll be ok. Was it just one week or two last year that the Big Weekend playlist was in for? Think two weeks would be OTT really.
  7. Can't say I'm fussed on the new Rihanna track. It may do well on first day curiosity streams, but I can't see it hanging around. Think it's between Sombr and Calvin Harris for the next Number 1.

Radio 1 are playing Caroline too, so it's the current single. Would like to see them add Sombr 'Back To Friends' to go alongside 'Undressed' and the new Stereophonics track in the next few weeks.

Fancy non-stop Oasis in the run up to their reunion tour? How about Radio X Oasis? https://www.radiox.co.uk/artists/oasis/how-to-listen-radioxoasis-station/
  10. I can't imagine them dropping Calvin, it maybe that the track wasn't submitted in time for the playlist meeting or they just want to sit on it for a week or so. They don't have to playlist anything immediately. I should imagine it will get played on the dance shows and added soon. I don't think they're as strict with dropping artists like they were 10-15 years ago.
  11. I quite like it - sounds good in the morning sunshine. Think it will grow old for me pretty quick for me though. Surprised its not on insta added on Radio 1's playlist, maybe it wasn't submitted in time for this weeks playlist meeting or they're sitting on it for a week to see how it does.

Hope the Phonics have a good lead to stay at the top. They will be the second Welsh band to have a Number 1 album in the last month if they make it following Those Damn Crows a few weeks ago.
  13. I heard 'About Damn Time' on the weekend but nothing from this era as yet.
  14. Album out today and the next single confirmed to be ‘Make It On Your Own’. The video features footage of their Principality Stadium gigs in Cardiff from 2023.

BBC Radio 1 has revealed a first for the Big Weekend 2025, a performance from Radio 1 Anthems acts Sugababes and Natash Bedingfield. This new addition to the festival is on the back of the Radio 1 Anthems extension which launched on BBC Sounds last November and was provisionally approved by Ofcom last week to launch on DAB+. The station is for young listeners to discover and re-discover music and artists played by Radio 1 throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2025 takes place in Sefton Park, Liverpool from Friday 23rd May – Sunday 25th May. Natasha Bedingfield says: “It’s a big deal to be part of Radio 1’s Big Weekend. I can’t wait to jump up on stage and sing my heart out with everyone. Let’s hope some inhibitions get released!” Sugababes say: “We’re buzzing to be playing Radio 1’s Big Weekend! We’ve heard amazing things about the energy and the crowds, so we’re excited to be part of it this year. Expect a lot of love, big tunes, and a show to remember!” Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, says: “Radio 1’s Big Weekend is about bringing people together through the music they love, and our Radio 1 Anthems artists are a perfect example of that. “These acts have soundtracked unforgettable moments for our audience and continue to resonate with listeners today – whether they’re rediscovering the songs or discovering them for the first-time. Hope Manics can keep pushing for that Number 1, but I feel they'll lose out. Hope Wombats can stay Top 5, surprised to see them ahead of PND & Drake, but happy to see it.
