Luck pretty much... and quality/credibility/merit/whatever the term I suppose. Strong/loyal fan following is also a good measurement. We cannot predict what will still do well and what won't. We can just hope the acts are still interesting when they come back with new music or something.

Hmm... the album's quite decent at first, just like when I heard the last two albums the first time so I expect to like it more. 'Glow In The Dark' was the highlight (when talking about album tracks) I think. What a tune.

Right, so I've just read this. The last bits kinda explain the problem:

Dunno exactly why remove the last name. Also, I almost thought "Aiden (the rock band) is in the Pop forum?". LOL Anyway, good new track. Didn't expect a rap! Maybe that's why he dropped the Grimshaw, it's quite different from his previous stuff.

Seeing that iTunes is the only one that has these pre-release albums with few tracks available to buy (I think?), maybe they should find a way to make them count and find out the way people got the tracks (cherrypicking, track purchased from pre-order, etc.) and maybe a bit of tweaking to the system (?) so that it's clear to know if someone bought it individually, if that sorta makes sense. And I think I can agree with subtracting the total sales instead of the weekly sales for the tracks, when it comes to the 'Complete My Album' feature. I bet OCC and Apple are having a discussion about this. :heehee:

Interesting to see songs outside the Top 10 have sold less than about 200k. 'Lighthouse' at #20 is surprising too.

Definitely depends on how it was released in the places/countries. Personally, I'm more confused about sets (double disc/box/etc.) not combined (for example the latest JT albums) (I understand many of them though) than deluxe and special editions being combined with standard editions.

'Lies' confirmed as next single. Great choice!

Who's gonna do the Voting Thread?

No way it would be outsold... unless probably the conditions SKOB mentioned was fulfilled but chances for the song to be outsold should still be thin like a hair. Who knows though maybe in about 30 years time, the Band Aid track has done it. And how much does CITW sell each year by the way?

It's people's decision to buy tracks/albums or not. And they can, they just have to decide. Personally, I don't think consumption changes due to some recession or increased accessibility to music should influence a change to the certification thresholds. I'm certain there's some money to be spent in producing certifications for acts that achieve them.
