Bat for Lashes
"What's A Girl To Do" reached Number 4 on my chart in late 2007. "Daniel" would have been Top 5 in April 2009 if I was doing an official chart this year.

CD single sales
Had a look at the CD singles I bought from record retailers in 2008 and am shocked to discover I only bought six chart (current) CD singles (down from 25 in 2007). It was definitely due to favourite new releases not being available on the format.

jargon's Top 50 :: 31/12/2008
1996 ~ 2001 2003 ~ 2008 In January 2002 I stopped doing my chart for a year, on hold after six whole years of monthly Top 50s. Then it was business as usual in January 2003, refreshed, I was satisfied with the singles chart again, and so there was a further six years of charting. Now I seem to have come full circle, and it's no co-incidence that this month's chart has the record for lowest number of new entries (one). My chart has really slowed down. I think it's time to take another year off, but meanwhile I'll come up with a Top 10 of the best (new?) songs each month. So here we go for December 2008... 01 (02) A-Punk - Vampire Weekend *3rd month at No.1* (11 months in chart) 02 (01) Bathroom Gurgle - Late Of The Pier 03 (03) Dancing Choose - TV On The Radio 04 (09) Gettin' Up - Q-Tip 05 (33) My Delirium - Ladyhawke 06 (10) Dusk Till Dawn - Ladyhawke 07 (12) Discipline - Nine Inch Nails {PEAK:#4} 08 (23) We Made It - Busta Rhymes feat Linkin Park 09 (15) Good Morning - Sparks {#2} 10 (22) One Day Like This - Elbow 11 (25) Breaking It Up - Lykke Li 12 (04) Love Lockdown - Kanye West 13 (05) Paris Is Burning - Ladyhawke 14 (06) VW - Late Of The Pier 15 (16) Hometown Glory - Adele {#6} 16 (19) Can't Stop Moving - Sonny J {#8} 17 (11) Salute Your Solution - The Raconteurs {#5} (10 months in chart) 18 (18) Saturday Night Hustle - Sway feat Lemar {#8} 19 (08) Don't Touch Me (Throw Da Water On 'Em) - Busta Rhymes 20 (28) Lighten Up, Morrissey - Sparks {#5} 21 (30) Thou Shalt Always Kill - Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip {#1} (15 months in chart) 22 (17) Use Somebody - Kings Of Leon 23 (38) Little Bit - Lykke Li 24 (**) Little Drummer Boy / Peace On Earth - Aled Jones & Sir Terry Wogan 25 (07) Another Way To Die - Jack White & Alicia Keys {#3} 26 (21) Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa - Vampire Weekend {#2} 27 (39) Machine Gun - Portishead {#1} (10 months in chart) 28 (26) Who's Gonna Save My Soul - Gnarls Barkley 29 (47) Going On - Gnarls Barkley {#8} 30 (34) Boyz - M.I.A. {#2} 31 (13) Club Action - Yo Majesty {#2} 32 (41) Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend {#6} 33 (37) In This City - Iglu & Hartly {#6} 34 (40) Mountains - Biffy Clyro {#20} 35 (42) Kids - MGMT 36 (27) Heaven For The Weather - The Streets 37 (44) Letter From God To Man - Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip {#1} (13 months in chart) 38 (45) The Angry Mob - Kaiser Chiefs {#12} (13 months in chart) 39 (49) Lights & Music - Cut Copy {#21} 40 (46) The Day That Never Comes - Metallica {#1} 41 (52) The Beat That My Heart Skipped - Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip {#1} (15 months in chart) 42 (35) Sex On Fire - Kings Of Leon {#18} 43 (55) Apologize - Timbaland pts OneRepublic {#5} (13 months in chart) 44 (14) L.E.S. Highest fall from Top 40 & 75?
42. If someone asked me what's the highest fall out of the top 40 I'd say Gnarls Barkley- Crazy, from No.5, as seen in the list above. Not a fair/sales-accurate drop, but in chart rule history it is correct.

Woolworths - 50% Off All Entertainment
I fondly remember the days of the CD/cassette singles bargain bin! As well as cut-price CDs I'm going to try and grab some CD shelves or cardboard displays if I can

Total amount of songs in your chart in the year
Probably 100 or so this year. When I started, there were about 270 in a calendar year.
-
Have you ever lost your charts?
Lost some data from November 1999 to February 2000 a few years after compiling, and eventually I managed to restore it as faithfully as I could remember.
