  1. Not quite - there have been a few songs that were top 5 in the semi and last in the final, the record is still Gabrielle's '#sitterher' from BJSC 58 (4th in its semi).

I think Jim Legxacy probably has a good chance of being on there! (Would love to see Maruja x) Turnstile are great but I feel like their breakthrough was a while ago so would feel weird for them to be on there this year (not that that's stopped some past nominees).
  3. Lol I missed the entire first half of the results because I slept through them, apologies, I really become more and more like Math every day x Will hopefully be around for the remainder - these are some interesting looking results so far, I'm not quite sure who I'd have predicted to be leading but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been either of the songs currently in the joint lead! OceanLab and Yanou were both some pretty good retro trance entries which I see is proving popular so far as well. Most of my main favourites are bunched up around midtable, quite disappointing to see Fiona Apple so low at the moment so I hope there are just lots of late votes for her, I did pretty much assume that was Jade's entry as I already discovered the song off her before but yay for it being brought to more people via this x Good picks from Herbs, Josh, Chez (I was thoroughly fooled into assuming that was Dandy x), Mattias, Jim, Scene, Cody and Rollo as well! Imogen Heap in the bottom 2 at the moment is very much not on, where are you alt bloc :'( (I did laugh a bit catching up with the thread and seeing Paris Hilton getting 3 12s in a row off the bat lol - that being a 5th choice entry is lowkey iconic) Remaining in mystery and intrigue for my own entry which may or may not be performing exactly as I expected it would. Aside: mind blown discovering the guy from Cherry Ghost is Simon Aldred (the singer on Avicii's 'Waiting For Love', which I coincidentally just heard on Radio 1 this morning, must have been years since the last time I heard it before that...!)

It's a vinyl release, it's mentioned in the OCC report.

Jade alienating me on purpose to get another win I see how it is Per my post in the final thread I still just have the one potential at the moment which is the techno instrumental I originally confirmed for 178, I think I'll look for something else but got that as a fallback if nothing else takes my fancy. Want to aim to be at least somewhat competitive to stay in with a chance of returning to the EOY top 20...
  7. Also another rolling YTD update (BJSCs 170-179) because as I thought might be the case, we have got yet another first time leader! (the lead has changed hands 4 contests in a row now with 3 of those taking the lead for the first time). 1 1992 Danæviia 2 1967 Neliönoir 3 1819 Kluminican Republic 4 1817 Jadakissnia 5 1778 Aeroche 6 1760 Kathaldazia 7 1738 Cor Lupus 8 1674 Hendinia 9 1674 Fljótavík 10 1599 Skall 11 1597 Bøtanikkä 12 1548 Altyr Muunilinst 13 1540 FSR Rontvia 14 1536 Greenfroze 15 1479 POPHub 16 1440 Land of DW 17 1435 FARC 18 1409 Ajanaeda 19 1400 République d'Áskorza 20 1399 Cumulonimbia 21 1291 Sovarasma 22 1277 Terra Avium 23 1211 Mothertopia 24 1200 Zanmatony 25 1145 Persephonia 26 1125 New Lexico 27 1104 Lotunia 28 1090 Cheiron 29 1087 Bronzil 30 1087 Pestolia Danæviia rise to #1 after previously peaking at #2 both last month and 2 months before that. That now makes 22 countries who have led this list at some point, 19 excluding the ones that only did so in updates before BJSC 10. Also of note, Skall are in the top 10 for the first time since they ranked 7th for BJSCs 54-63, while Mothertopia reach a new peak and Cheiron place in the top 30 for the first time. (I definitely won't post one of these updates next month as it will of course be identical to the EOY top 30)
  8. YTD update ~ Neliönoir remain in pole position going into the last contest of the year but Danæviia close the gap further from 90 points to just 47, all to play for! Jadakissnia stay in 3rd place but fall a bit behind the top 2, the gap to Danæviia widening to 163 points. Cor Lupus sneak up to 4th place swapping with Kluminican Republic. Hendinia and Fljótavík hold in 6th and 8th, Aeroche drop two to 9th and Kathaldazia are down one to 10th, while FSR Rontvia's long awaited win sees them zoom up 5 places to 7th. They replace Greenfroze in the top 10 who drop 3 places to 13th despite a decent midtable result this month. Skall also fall a place despite coming top 10 this month, as they are leapfrogged by both of this contest's top 2, FARC now knocking on the door of the top 10 for the year. Big upwards moves elsewhere in the top 20 for POPHub and Terra Avium. Persephonia are finally on the up again to 23rd, 39 points away from the top 20 so I still have a shot at it if I can find another decent hit and hope some of my competition flops. 1 1 1833 Neliönoir 2 2 1786 Danæviia 3 3 1623 Jadakissnia 4 5 1573 Cor Lupus 5 4 1562 Kluminican Republic 6 6 1551 Hendinia 7 12 1540 FSR Rontvia 8 8 1526 Fljótavík 9 7 1509 Aeroche 10 9 1459 Kathaldazia 11 15 1435 FARC 12 11 1434 Skall 13 10 1382 Greenfroze 14 14 1363 Bøtanikkä 15 19 1324 POPHub 16 13 1303 Altyr Muunilinst 17 18 1277 Land of DW 18 17 1262 République d'Áskorza 19 21 1249 Cumulonimbia 20 25 1184 Terra Avium 21 16 1168 Ajanaeda 22 26 1152 Sovarasma 23 28 1145 Persephonia 24 20 1087 Bronzil 25 27 1087 Pestolia 26 29 1080 Zanmatony 27 32 1030 Mothertopia 28 22 1026 Aesthetica 29 30 1010 Séyetana 30 23 1006 Lotunia 31 24 1002 New Lexico 32 34 994 Elëdan 33 33 905 Taahino 34 35 903 Baleghde 35 31 881 Trifoski 36 38 835 Cheiron 37 37 812 Lookylion 38 36 759 Macromia 39 39 726 Aelandor 40 44 678 Jupiterdonia 41 45 639 The Spodic Empire 42 42 636 Dobago 43 40 601 Scotland 2 44 46 595 Summericia 45 47 564 A-Konohagakure 46 41 558 Herbilore 47 43 536 Thelonia 48 53 528 Hushkanukia 49 50 465 Flynnonda 50 48 418 Hinterlandia 51 49 387 Ben's Sanctuary 52 51 351 Yehesi 53 52 299 East Rukahavian 54 63 267 Deandria 55 58 251 N DNTN 56 54 229 Singerpurear 57 55 190 Utopia 58 56 164 Beaverdonia 59 57 157 Kylienips 60 59 148 Harmonica 61 60 141 Oslol 62 61 121 Ojnoj 63 62 120 Sandénia 64 64 114 Niceland 65 65 106 Ultraviolenceland 66 66 97 Palmyra 67 67 94 Pagasa 68 68 83 Conoria 69 69 63 Suedeonia
  9. FSR Rontvia's 6 2nd place finishes between wins quickly on its way to being rivalled by the country they just denied by the way... this is now FARC's 4th runner-up since they last won! (and in a much shorter timeframe than those Rontvia silvers)
  10. Anyway all caught up again so ramble time A bit of a tease that I was in the top 10 for most of the results but then it all went a bit wrong after my votes and I was yeeted down to fighting for a top 15 spot in the home stretch - especially as I again had deluded headcanon that you were all underrating it and I thought it did have an ok shot at top 10 - but pleased that I did indeed keep that top 15 spot to get my second highest finish of the year and only 13 points off the top 10. It is only my 3rd highest points of the year as Messa got 180 to come 16th, but on the other hand it's tied Chikoi The Maid for my best of the year both in number of votes and semi-final position! (I did think semi 2 was easily the better draw for me so not shocked that it turned out to be an underperformance in the final compared to the semi but a nice surprise to see it nabbing a bronze medal there anyway). Plus 5 medals in the final is more than my last 4 entries combined! Thanks again to all who voted, especially blacksquare ending my gold medal drought <3 'Luukered' did actually finally start to click with me a little bit more on my final relisten - IIRC I had it ranked either 21st or 22nd after the final SyncTube - but alas still no dice in ending the streak of winners I didn't vote for. I really like the groove it has going in the verses, I unfortunately just find that the hook/drop loses a bit of momentum and even the much-lauded genre switch at the end wasn't quiiiite hitting the spot for me (I did enjoy it more on my last listen which is why I pushed it up a few spots), I wish I could have got more into it as the potential was there for it to be a big favourite for me but it just never quite came together. Ah well, at least I've given Rich 2 18s for other entries this year, maybe I'd have liked this more if it was in Turkish instead of Estonian! It's tough for me to rank the winners of the year because this is now the 5th one that I ranked somewhere between 16th and 18th (!) but I think this might just about edge out ALT BLK ERA as my favourite winner of the year, and I promise it's purely coincidental that those happen to also be the only two winners this year that weren't recycled artists Very much looking forward to finally stepping foot in FSR Rontvia for hosting duties again, mad that it's been over 11 years. I'm almost rooting for the last winner of the year to be another one that gets nothing from me just because we might as well go for the full house x I didn't vote for any of the top 5 oops (Elëdan only just missing out though and POPHub was also a commiseration, good to see them continuing their hit streak anyway x), I knew ORKID would do well but Maria Sur coming top 3 seems a bit surprising, not that I ever really know how to predict pop songs! 3 of my votes making the lower half of the top 10 at least, great stuff there for Cumulonimbia (my last minute energy not quite coming through for it but still respectable), Terra Avium was the one that knocked Elëdan out of my votes at the last second and especially glad to see my 18 from Danæviia just sneaking in on a tiebreak <3 Dan's taste in guitar music continues to be impeccable. Also voted for 11th and 12th, I had started to get a sneaky suspicion that Mothertopia wouldn't quite be contending despite it being easily the best pop entry of the month for me aw but still not too bad of a result, two top 15 hits for Lexie this year after she DNQed twice before, that's growth x Also yay for Sovarasma and Aeroche going top 20 though would have liked to see both a little higher, ditto for Neliönoir and Greenfroze, and Deandria but 22nd is quite good for that really (never unhearing the comparison to the Squidward future scene though ddd). Flynnonda, N DNTN and Dobago all deserved much better - Dobbo's previous Pendulum anniversary pick was a bit of a letdown for me whereas I loved this one so disappointing that this one finished lower but ah well, at least it qualified and forever has the iconic status of being the 10,000th entry finally a bit of a shame that Jadakissnia's host entry finished in the bottom 10 but of course as a bit of a wildcard auto-qualifier it could easily have gone a lot worse. also: I think I actually predicted Hendinia coming exactly 14th on SyncTube so call me Mystic Brer Thanks Jade for a wonderful smooth hosting job, loved how busy the forum was this month so sad that this contest is coming to an end now but hopefully we can keep some of that momentum going for what is going to be quite a fast turnaround to the last contest of the year! I've not got an entry in mind properly yet, I still have the techno song that I originally confirmed last month if nothing else but I think I'll look for other potentials before defaulting back to that. YTD update coming shortly x
  11. ^ I was just hoping that you posting being surprised about me doing well was meant in a way of pleasant surprise hehe (I never really know whether to expect points from you or not, I've not quite got a grip on your taste well enough after all these years!)
  12. Yes I got my 30th by Scotland 2 being deducted behind me x
  13. Yasss Addy. Lots of bucket list exact positions crossed off the list this year - 19th for you, 30th for me, 6th for Phil, is there another one I'm forgetting x
  14. Will deliver the customary results ramble in a lil bit as I need to sort out my Bop Idol votes but just confirming the final scoreboard is all correct x edit: as above then!
  15. Thanks Roba for the final couple of points, will that have been enough to cling onto my second top 15 of the year (Congrats Rich on finally breaking the win drought! There is hope for me to do the same yet x)
  16. (I knew NocheLuna hadn't voted as I stalked his profile but I was under strict orders from Jade to not mention it in the thread x) ((shame though oops, hope they will be back with us in the new year))
  17. Thanks !!! <3 I've only come top 15 once so far this year but have come 16th twice... right on the borderline of adding to either of those x
  18. Ooh thank you Calum! I was starting to worry I might be literally getting 0 points from the people who voted after me xx Pendulum in last place now is a bit of a travesty, how could we do the 10,000th entry so dirty
  19. Late voters you're supposed to have taste, what's wrong with you all xxx
  20. Ok I'm not really here for the ORKID song so happy to see SADU racing ahead again after it was getting a bit close there x
  21. A Trifoski snub not helping matters (yas at another 18 for Flawed Mangoes though *.*)
  22. Oop looking a lot more precarious in the top 10 now and not feeling too confident from the list of people left to vote, I fear we may be approaching joever territory
  23. Wanted to wait until my votes were posted to comment on it but would you look at that, tracking for a fourth contest in a row where the winner got no points from me but I ranked it in the low teens, like clockwork xx Would still be the case even if Elëdan snatch it - sorry Pavi it got pushed out at the last minute </3 - but has been looking good for FSR Rontvia all night and not sure I see that changing! Although it didn't quite make my points SADU would still be a great winner for me, an inspired choice (ending the run of recycled artists winning and possibly making Estonian language entries technically have a 100% win rate!) and a long, long overdue return to Rich winning and hopefully hosting x
