The boost for Bad Bunny on Spotify looks to have been pretty confined to the USA and Canada (where 'DtMF' jumped from outside the top 200 to be in the 70s for the past few days) - even in Mexico the impact was fairly limited (#67 before the announcement, #48 now) and it's actually dropped in some of his other big markets. Likewise his second highest song on US Spotify ('BAILE INoLVIDABLE') doesn't appear to have had a corresponding rise anywhere else. I guess it's possible that Super Bowl news might resonate more in the UK than other non North American countries but even if he has had a significant streaming gain here, he will presumably have been way off the top 200 before and still no sign of him now so no way to track it really. Hope to see him making at least somewhat of a splash here after the actual performance at least, manifesting a belated hit for 'DÁKITI' and/or 'Tití Me Preguntó' x He's not had a charting single since 2019, I think he may have fully transitioned into album artist territory at this point.

So actually ended up with the top 3 being the same as my own top 3 *.* (albeit the top 2 swapped over). 'Mavka' was an immediate love (and very Jade coded so no shocks at it also getting her 12 x), nice one Joops, plus I do remember discussion on SyncTube of Knifehandchop being a potential contender too so great to see that also coming to fruition for Rollo, have had that one stuck in my head this evening. Also had one more snap from my top 5 with Christopher Chaplin and voted for 6/10 of the top 10 in all post amendment, nice solid result for Kraftwerk and very happy Air Liquide got top 10 after all as well (not least because I just remembered I bumped it down one point after my relisten argh! so that would have been me saving my own top 10 position, but now a moot point following the scoreboard correction). 2 more of my votes in the top 15, I hadn't really clocked Giant Claw recovering so much from the slow start, and I did predict and hope Blawan would have done a bit better but at least top half isn't too bad, a solid anon contest debut for Klum x So the only bottom half finishers from my votes were Autechre and Ziúr, the latter being so low is very much unjustified :'( 'Luya' was close to my votes too (15th) so also an undeserved last place there! Pita turning out to be Julian has really thrown me!! Not least with it being literally the last reveal so I was given no reason to doubt my assumption from all along that it would have been !!!'s entry haha. Pretty wild to see such a song finishing in the top 10 but not complaining, I ended up being a bit sad to not find room for it in my votes - it does bring to mind a couple of very noisy BJSC entries I was a big fan of (Candy Claws' 'Exploder Falls' and KMRU/Aho Ssan's 'Resurgence'), this one felt even more out there than those to me but grew to appreciate it anyway. Also shoutout to Cody finding a song and video combination that really felt like a literal nightmare. Not really my cup of tea but I appreciate the audacity x After the reaction to my song on SyncTube (i.e. people thinking it just sounded like a normal drum n bass song and/or that it peaked early and didn't need to be so long - which to be fair is valid, could probably cut off a couple of minutes without losing much substance x) I did worry that I had miscalculated and was destined to continue my run of bad form in song contests of late so very pleased to see that not being the case in the end, I do now wonder if it could have done quite well as a BJSC entry but I stand by it fitting into this theme even if it was not exactly comparing to the weirdness of certain others x Thanks muchly to Joops, Klumzee and Savan for a trio of silver medals (trading medals with Joops *.* a good omen for #jupitersephonia? x) and uhsting, blacksquare, Doctor Blind, Lewis, Herbs, Rich, hlavkus, Jade, Leww and Kath for the other points! + thanks Leww for the hosting and everyone for a high quality and memorable batch of songs, we did well to manage such high turnout in both entries and votes from this theme, perhaps Doctor B will show some mercy to the more pop hoe inclined participants with a more palatable theme next time hehe

Oh not Pavita being the me in this contest and ruining Kath's day (although Dobbo getting a lucky break and me being promoted to single digits yay xo) 5 way tiebreak is crazy though. I don't think that's ever happened in BJSC.

nnn well I did finish off on yet another drought but yay for still just barely staying top 10 anyway by way of coming 3rd in a 4 way tie...! Ouch that Dobbo came 11th but would have come 7th with just 1 more point *_* Will make another post with more comments but congrats to Doctor Blind, a very well deserved win there and hooray for my psychic abilities after it being one of the 3 songs I picked as maybe contenders (2/3 of my predictions being top 5, we'll ignore that the one I picked most confidently as a contender only came 14th )

Need to catch up on commenting in this thread as I dozed off for a bit oops so will just wait until the end at this point but woken up again for my own song reveal and to see my top 2 currently sitting as the overall top 2 *.* (albeit the other way round) Has been a bit up and down for my entry with a couple of fairly long droughts, fingers crossed I can survive a couple more votes to cling on in the top 10 x

Rich serving chaotic shitpost energy! (it was a fun one x) Giant Claw was the artist I came across but passed on when searching, I liked 'No Life' considerably more than the song that I listened to though so nice choice, doesn't deserve to still be on 0. (I since found out he's a member of death's dynamic shroud so I wouldn't have sent him anyway but still)

Great entries from hlavkus and Dobbo, was predicting Air Liquide to be Rollo's entry!

Leww going with one of the most out there entries oh my (that was one I also initially thought sounded like !!! before Pita sounded even more !!! x) Two Inch Punch was a bit of a throwback, not heard that name for a long time.

Very interested to see how this plays out! Oh no at lack of !!! votes tho. I'm gonna guess she sent Pita because I really don't know who else would have. If I were to take a stab at a winner prediction I'd say maybe Blawan x (I could also maybe see it being one of the longer entries like Caterina Barbieri or Christopher Chaplin as I imagine they could attract a lot of big points)

The regular BJSC is open to everything yes! (Although the focus of it is on music discoveries so within reason needs to be at least somewhat unknown songs, the pinned veto framework thread spells out in slightly excessive detail the kind of things that might get a song disallowed. Also needs to be a song that hasn't been sent before, for which there's also a pinned thread with a list). The various other song contests around the site all have a more specific focus (either genre or time period - the Pop and Dance forums each have their own contest as do the two 'rewind' forums, while the Indie forum has 2 of its own contests which alternate editions with one being specific to guitar-led music and the other being a more open ended 'alternative' contest) with most of them also having a different theme each edition, e.g. the one I linked you to is the 11th edition of 'The Best Song Contest In The World... Ever!' which is the pre-2000 focused contest with this edition's theme being foreign languages.

I mean let's not forget Scotland 2 did previously send a song that was over half an hour and it actually qualified x (all glory to Don Salsa)

Even if Scotland 2 had sent a more normal length song that'd still work out to semi 2 being nearly half an hour longer! I did my bit to try and maintain semi length parity as my song is the shortest in semi 2 (by nearly 30 seconds) only the third shortest in the contest as a whole though. Semi 1 has 11 sub-3 minute songs compared to only 2 in semi 2!
