  1. Ehh, I don't doubt Sabrina will hold up better but a) 'Manchild' is also country influenced and b) this argument really doesn't hold as much weight as it did a few years ago, there have been a ton of successful country pop songs in the UK recently, it probably could have been a great move for Chappell if the song had been received better than it was.
  2. Oh I know, I just didn't see that until last night.
  3. I endorse Aesthetica as a contender (Why So Sirius and FARC as well, the foreign language dance pop bops are serving this month) Rd'Á's song isn't bad but I am not really here for a third contest in a row won by an inferior song by an artist who had a recent top 10 hit :'(
  4. Would not complain if 'Fame Is A Gun' can outpeak 'Diet Pepsi' x Oh my at Ethel Cain actually charting on Spotify *.*
  5. Alex is still ahead of #2 on the overall chart by nearly 2 to 1 so presumably he still had quite a big lead over the pack on Apple.
  6. I was pleasantly surprised to hear this on the chart show and discover she is capable of making a song with somewhat of a pulse (decent song x)
  7. 'Manchild' is a more tolerable song than anything else she's hit with since 'Espresso' for me but not one I'm rushing to hear again still x (why did I know when I didn't hate it that it'd be the song that makes BuzzJack start turning on her )
  8. Ooh I hadn't seen 'Ribs' going platinum! Shame it has still been denied a chart position by the OCC's janky reset rules x
  9. 1 Elton John and Dua Lipa - Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) 2 Damiano David - The First Time 3 Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street 4 Charlie Puth - Done For Me (feat. Kehlani) 5 Enrique Iglesias - Tonight (I'm Fuckin' You) (feat. Ludacris and DJ Frank E) not a great bunch x
  10. The way I was relieved to see that Enrique song here assuming it'd be last by a mile and save myself but apparently some people actually liked it?
  11. https://sync-tube.de/room/ApAM3t-I Listenthrough from a bit after 8pm (will edit a YT playlist into this post shortly x) edit: + Cumulonimbia Vimeo visuals if you're so inclined
  12. So... listenthrough today then? Seems to be the day with the most support (sorry Jim x), would be my preferred day as well.
  13. I think I'd probably rather just keep 'Ordinary' at #1 a while longer than have to endure another Sabrina #1 (I'll try and hold out some hope that this might be a less obnoxious song but 'Busy Woman' was her worst hit to date for me so she's not trending in a positive direction lol - also can't say the title of the new song is a good omen)
  14. Trying to think if James Blake even has a third song that will have enough crossover appeal to typical BuzzJack pop fans to survive another round! I didn't expect 'Barefoot In The Park' to finish quite so low oops, niche votes are not going to carry me very far
  15. Apols for being last minute x 1 CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share (I'd rank this ahead of my own song, an all time fave x) 2 Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi (actually way better than I remember it being - not that I didn't like it before but I would not have expected to be ranking it this highly before listening through the list) 3 Rina Sawayama - Hold The Girl 4 Ellie Goulding - Lights 5 Pet Shop Boys - Heart 6 Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin' 7 Charlie Puth - We Don't Talk Anymore (feat. Selena Gomez) 8 The Saturdays - Issues 9 SASAMI - Slugger 10 a-ha - Manhattan Skyline 11 Disclosure - F For You (feat. Mary J. Blige) (a little torn on this one as it's an excellent Disclosure song but I prefer the version without MJB so it's not so great as an MJB song oop) 12 Enrique Iglesias - Heartbeat (feat. Nicole Scherzinger) 13 Christina Aguilera - Hurt 14 Addison Rae - Headphones On 15 Damiano David - Voices 16 Tom Aspaul - Cabin Fever 17 WALK THE MOON - Shut Up And Dance 18 Elton John - Bennie And The Jets 19 Fifth Harmony - Sledgehammer 20 ENHYPEN - Drunk-Dazed
  16. Don't think I've heard any of these songs so all fresh ears for me! A good handful here that I look forward to hearing a new (to me) song from. (yes including the Paula Cole song which I'm aware is probably a fair bit more well-known than anything else on here, it was discussed by the mods and ultimately allowed x)
  17. Thanks to those who joined the launch event on SyncTube to get a sneak peek at the 25 one hit wonder artists chosen for this contest - now time to reveal the songs competing for the 10th gold medal of The Best Song Contest In The World... Ever! To submit your votes, simply rank your 10 favourite songs using the Eurovision voting system (12 points for your favourite, 10 for your second favourite and 8 through 1 for your 3rd through 10th favourites) and send them via PM to myself (Brer). Note that you cannot vote for your own song. If you have a song competing in the contest you must vote or your song will face the ignominious fate of being replaced in the results by a randomly selected Mr Blobby deep cut having a 33% deduction from its points total, likely sending it hurtling down the final scoreboard. You can still submit votes as a guest even if you didn't send a song yourself, the more the merrier! I shall set a deadline of 23:59 BST on Friday 13th Saturday 14th June 2025 with a view to announcing the results on Saturday 14th Sunday 15th June, giving you all about 11 12 days to familiarise yourself with the songs as much as you see fit before voting which I hope will be sufficient. Another SyncTube listenthrough featuring the actual songs from the contest this time will take place at some point during the voting period, not decided when yet. 01 Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Mercy Seat 02 They Might Be Giants - Purple Toupee 03 Shocking Blue - Love Buzz 04 Army Of Lovers - Obsession 05 The Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way 06 Young MC - Know How 07 Alphaville - Sounds Like A Melody 08 Annerley - Save Me 09 Tracy Chapman - Give Me One Reason 10 The Vapors - News At Ten 11 Chantay Savage - Betcha'll Never Find 12 White Town - Undressed 13 Nu Shooz - Point Of No Return 14 Mr. Oizo - Stunt 15 2wo Third3 - Hear Me Calling 16 Modern Talking - Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. For Love) 17 Donna Lewis - Agenais 18 Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin - Stars 19 The Icicle Works - Birds Fly (Whisper To A Scream) 20 Classix Nouveaux - Never Never Comes 21 Zager & Evans - Listen To The People 22 Paula Cole - I Don't Want To Wait 23 Cicero - That Loving Feeling 24 Freiheit - The Land Of Fantasy 25 Helen Reddy - Imagination (FYI for those who missed my fun fact from SyncTube - Annerley is the current moniker of Ann Lee of '2 Times' fame. Also, 'Stars' is there for Bobby McFerrin of course, Yo-Yo Ma being a no-hit wonder so I figured his collaboration was no harm x And all of these artists are UK one hit wonders bar Young MC who is a US (and Australian) one hit wonder so thanks to the one person who validated me typing up an entire extra paragraph to allow for such entries hehe) Will edit in some playlists here - if someone wants to beat me to making a Spotify and/or YouTube playlist go ahead (I believe all of the songs are available on Spotify, Freiheit are tagged as MΓΌnchener Freiheit but it is the same band), otherwise I'll make them myself some time soon!
  18. Congrats Leww, I ranked 'Masquerade' 14th so just outside of my commiserations, a decent winner and it's well overdue for you to finally win one of these! Only voted for 2 of the top 5 so not the most in touch I've ever been with results (to say nothing of my own entry coming dead last lol oops - my second Club Bizarre wooden spoon after Zero T being robbed way back in the 4th edition) but very pleased at St Germain coming 2nd at least! Not so much luck for my other two medallists which both missed the top 10 aw, as did my 7 pointer. Thanks Dan for the hostings!
  19. Ooof good thing dandy* did get to vote then if St Germain is still a win contender - I was aware that the Jorja Smith version was a cover but never checked out the original and had forgotten who it was by, I was wondering when I saw the title during my first listenthrough if it was the same song! What a tune *.* (and a great entry from Cow there as well). Thanks for a few more points also x (I guess these last 2 voters are both unlikely to be voting for St Germain though so I'm predicting TCTS to still win)
  20. Chez's BJSC entry from Crazy P didn't fully connect with me but I enjoyed this one a lot more so nice pick Joops, glad to see it doing so well! And ooh my gold medallist now in the lead *.*
  21. Our housing market struggling this quarter I was trying to find an entry similar to DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ which led to me doing a RateYourMusic search for the 'outsider house' subgenre, this track doesn't exactly sound much like DJ Sabrina but I still vibed with it enough to give it a go. Fun fact: the vocal is a sample from 'All Night' by Men I Trust x Thanks Jade and Rich for my higher scores so far + Wardy, Chez and Dobbo for a few more points as well, at least I'm not last I guess
  22. 'Swallow Me' was quite the entrancing pick, nice one Chez (makes up for me snubbing you in a few other recent anon contests x). I had been suspicious of you recycling one of your own artists once again with Crazy P being in this contest but not the case again x
