Just given this album a listen (am finally getting back into listening to some new albums after falling off for months oops, got a ton I need to catch up with x) - half of this album is absolutely fantastic, 'alife' in particular is giving immediate song of the year contender (or at least quite high up the list) for me  the vocals remind me a lot of '(Don't Fear) The Reaper'. Also really love 'the slab', 'shanty' and 'chained to a cloud'. The first couple of singles are on the weaker half of the album for me but still good, think the only song here I wouldn't rush to go back to is 'prayer remembered', sounds like it'd make a nice documentary soundbed though.
Nice that this has given them a first top 10 album - I don't think I'd even heard of them at the time their last album came out but been introduced to them via a few song contest entries on here since then so nice to experience a new era as it happens now!

1 'Demons' 9.5/10
2 'Not Guilty' 9/10
3 'I KNOW ?' 8.5/10
4 'Strangers' 8.5/10
5 'Back On 74' 8/10
6 'HONEY (ARE U COMING?)' 8/10
7 'AMEN' 7.5/10
8 'LOVELY BAS
TARDS' 7/109 'Last Time I Saw You' 6.5/10
10 'Vertigo' 6/10
11 'Tension' 6/10
12 'Lil Boo Thang' 5.5/10
Voted for my top 7 here which is more than I voted for in the previous thread with 3 polls combined :cheeseblock: Absolutely love the distorted production and aggressive hook on 'Demons', the verses are good too although as I commented in the thread for her album I do wish they went a little more aggressively too as that could have made this a rare 10/10 song for me but still great stuff. Need to pay more attention to Tunde as I've been a fan of both of his top 100 hits now, 'Not Guilty' is not anything original but it slaps, he does still remind me of Potter Payper but with better production and stronger hooks. 'I KNOW ?' is reminding me a bit of Future's 'PUFFIN ON ZOOTIEZ', a bit understated but can see the melody being quite infectious. 'Strangers' is definitely riding the PinkPantheress wave a little blatantly but it executes the formula well so I'm here for it. Jungle made a good Jungle song and Måneskin made a good Måneskin song, not much to say about those other than I like them. Don't care for the Nines verse on 'AMEN' but I do like Tion's verse, pretty good instrumental and a standout hook with the slight gospel tinges. I love that something as leftfield as 'LOVELY BAS
TARDS' is somehow charting - sounded very different to what I expected, I guess it falls under the phonk umbrella but it's not like any phonk song I've heard before - but it's not quite coming together as a song for me, just a cool brief collage of sounds, might well be a grower though. I like the general vibe Nicki is going for on 'Last Time I Saw You' but it's let down by a pretty weak rap verse. 'Vertigo' is quite boring for the first couple of minutes, then it suddenly gets good with the bridge (reminding me a lot of Taylor Swift), then it quickly ends - could have been a lot better. I think 'Tension' has some good ideas in it and I do like the verses but I'm really not that keen on the chorus, I just feel like the vocal effects/mixing sound a bit off? And then 'Lil Boo Thang' feels like it should be a bit cringe but I like it more than I probably should at least for now, it has enough of a feel good vibe that I can't hate, at least as long as I don't hear it 1,000 times. The results here are closer than I expected so far

Sorry to be annoying  but I'm pretty sure ties are usually broken first by number of votes (although tbf I think that's more just a convention that's usually copied over from BJSC than a specifically proscribed rule for Nuggets - and in fact while digging back through some old results it seems it's only been in the last 5 or so contests that hosts have bothered breaking ties at all - so it's kind of a case of both myself and Jade having a Schrödinger's 10th place finish :kink: I guess this matters less in the absence of a stats thread x)
In any case ~ this is the second time in the span of two weeks (after the Foreign Language III spinoff) where my entire top 4 have finished in the top 5 of a song contest on here so that's kajda krejza - the absolute taste on display once again *.* And even better here because I also voted for the other song in the top 5 and the one in 6th as well! In fact literally only one of my votes finished in the bottom half (Ocean Alley, my 2 pointer) so basically nothing to complain about at all here. Full Of Hell being top half is ikonek in particular x
When I found my song (shoutout to a YouTube video by Drew Gooden where he mentioned a metal song with an incredible saxophone solo which I had to immediately check out lmao) I had a rare level of confidence that I could actually have a pretty big hit on my hands - I suppose 10th/11th fits the bill well enough, I see it had the joint 2nd most votes out of all the songs here as well which is pretty reaffirming but just a lot of them being lower scores ofc. Glad that it was generally well received. Thanks muchly to Dan and Suede for the only medals (both golds!), close to a 12 swap with the latter! Then also thanks to Dobbo, Savan, Wardy, Chez, Rollo, Jade, Nate, Whoddy, AllStar, Cody, RFC and Julian for the rest of the pointage, good thing I kept a list since I had to wait until the very end to be able to acknowledge any of them :basil:
Thanks Wardy for the hosting and I apologise that I inadvertently stressed you out near the end, I really shouldn't have said anything oops. I didn't point out the scoreboard error to try and pressure you into fixing it on the fly, I was just noting it to make it easier to troubleshoot if it somehow didn't fix itself by the end which I'm 99% sure it would have done but nevermind!

My votes snatching the win away from one of my big faves to give it to another one of my big faves :cheeseblock: Well done Suede, a fantastic winner, glad that the lack of Spotify support didn't hamper it.
I'll save commenting on the rest until the tiebreaks are sorted but am hopeful I may have managed to snatch 10th place there (sorry Jerd if I knock you out of the top 10 on that tiebreak :teresa: although goals @ us finishing with the same number of points anyway x)

Oop I shouldn't have said anything if this is gonna delay the rest of the results  I'm assuming you just switched 2 votes around so there'll be a corresponding post where Italia 90 get a 12 but no points added to the scoreboard etc.
East Of Eden was a really strong J-rock entry, loved the strings ~
-
No big deal as I'm sure it'll sort itself out by the end but the scoreboard has got a little out of sync (looks like the votes added when you posted Dan's votes were a different set - one that gave 12 points to Italia 90 etc.)
RFC being behind Italia 90 certainly makes sense - thank you for another one to add to the list of artsy post punk bands that I have no choice but to stan. Quite a standout debut entry from Dan as well, a bit of a System Of A Down vibe ~
