  1. Thanks Jim for posting that extra bonus catchup list, I had meant to try and organise that some time this week but I didn't really get much of anything done this week unfortunately oop, finally got last week's best & worst poll up anyway so hope people will be able to vote in that before 4pm (failing that I might play the recap song at the end instead of at the start to give some extra time). I'll nominate Bring Me The Horizon - Top 10 staTues tHat CriEd bloOd for a #2 album bonus just to be different although 'Starburster' is a great consensus pick obviously x 'WILDFLOWER' and 'Sympathy is a knife' I think are my picks from the low top 10 hits, not counting 'squabble up' as it's being played as a US #1 anyway and 'tv off' as I'm nominating it as a US #2 x Speaking of, this week's #2s: Bad Bunny - DtMF Benson Boone - Beautiful Things Billie Eilish - BIRDS OF A FEATHER Drake - IDGAF (feat. Yeat) Drake - Search & Rescue Drake and 21 Savage - Rich Flex Eminem - Houdini Future, Metro Boomin, Travis Scott and Playboi Carti - Type Shit Kendrick Lamar - tv off (feat. Lefty Gunplay) Lil Durk - All My Life (feat. J. Cole) Luke Combs - Fast Car Morgan Wallen - I'm The Problem Playboi Carti - EVIL J0RDAN Rihanna - Lift Me Up Sabrina Carpenter - Taste SZA - Snooze Taylor Swift - Down Bad Taylor Swift - Karma (feat. Ice Spice) Taylor Swift - Lavender Haze Taylor Swift - Now That We Don't Talk Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY My nominations: Bad Bunny - DtMF Kendrick Lamar - tv off (feat. Lefty Gunplay) Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY

Despacito (Remix) God's Plan One Dance Psycho Someone You Loved ~ My votes for this week: Best: Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow - INDUSTRY BABY Post Malone - Circles Taylor Swift - cardigan Taylor Swift - willow The Weeknd and Ariana Grande - Save Your Tears (Remix) A lot of songs I kept on my initial sweep so a lot of 'near misses' but the last few I cut: 'All Too Well (Taylor's Version)', 'Heartless', 'Leave The Door Open', 'As It Was', 'positions' and, very regrettably, 'The Box'. Considered kicking one of the other two Taylor songs in favour of that just for diversity but they're both really up there with my all time faves from her. Worst: 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj - TROLLZ Glass Animals - Heat Waves Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo - Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) (BTS Remix) All offensive for different reasons but all stood out as easy picks. 'Way 2 Sexy' is saved from consideration by having a fun video but can consider itself a dishonourable mention anyway x
  3. In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez). Our last double bill of polls saw Gotye and Kimbra's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' top week 24 with 7 votes, another 1 vote lead over fellow alternative hit 'Royals' by Lorde while The Weeknd's 'The Hills' finished 3rd with 5 votes (a late vote from JackJones breaking it out of a 3 way tie for the bronze). The Weeknd did however go two places better in comfortably winning the week 25 poll with Daft Punk collab 'Starboy' getting 8 votes, a full 3 ahead of a three way tie for second place between Billie Eilish's 'bad guy', Sia and Sean Paul's 'Cheap Thrills' and Kendrick Lamar's 'HUMBLE.'. It was a 1 vote margin for the win in both worst polls, Flo Rida's 'Whistle' and Maroon 5's 'Girls Like You' (feat. Cardi B) getting 5 and 6 votes respectively, while Maroon 5 were also the runner up for week 24 with 4 votes for 'One More Night' and Ed Sheeran with or without Beyoncé took the silver for week 25 with 'Perfect [Duet]'. Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' tied with Bruno Mars' 'When I Was Your Man' for bronze in week 24 with 3 votes each while Taylor also took bronze with 3 votes with 'Look What You Made Me Do' for week 25. I expect she'll do better in the remaining polls. In any case, this list covers the 1,092nd through 1,136th #1s, from early November 2019 (Selena Gomez's 'Lose You To Love Me') to the start of May 2022 (Jack Harlow's 'First Class', with Harry Styles' 'As It Was' returning to #1 after its first week at the top). 4. Oh we have a Kathaldazia entry now so ar Kerth must still be lurking xx
  5. A-Konohagakure is fka Eastovka - they at least put this information in the spreadsheet even if they ignored my earlier plea to post about name changes on the forum first Currently only missing Hushkanukia, Kathaldazia and Summericia from those who entered last month - I see Kath hasn't been online for a bit over a week, hmm ~
  6. Unfortunately the one you changed to is another artist clash so you might need to go back to the first one (unless you want to change to a third different song). I've finally got a song in myself (a whole 30 minutes early!) - going gothic/doom this month ~ Sorry for the continued lack of news on the veto front so far, I was unusually on time last month so balancing it out by taking forever this time ddd (probably wouldn't hold your breaths for semis to be able to go up tomorrow but we'll see)
  7. Not sure about that sorry xx (am going to work on veto research tonight, this week has gone by way too quickly oop)
  8. No, uhsting is if anything far too vocal about their country name changes
  9. Can I give a quick PSA that if you're going to change your country name please post about it on the forum first so we can actually tell who you are without having to resort to snooping in the email addresses xx
  10. I see 3 entries in the spreadsheet so far already by former Persephonia artists, my alumni in high demand *.* (I don't have a song to confirm yet which going by recent form means I'll probably be confirming some time between 11pm and midnight on Saturday xo)
  11. Well then! That's my fifth win in a song contest on this site and my first in nearly 5 years (since Moaning winning Nuggets XII in May 2020 - previous wins were BJSCs 67 & 74 in 2014/15 and PFSC IV in late 2017), I noted it went down fairly well on SyncTube so had decently high hopes that it'd be another one that'd finish above my usual bottom 5-ish results in this particular contest but was absolutely not anticipating being a contender to win so that's a wonderful surprise *.* thanks very much to all who threw points my way - particularly the trio of golds from Cow, fiesta and Severin and further medals from Rich and Dandy, was very close to being an entry that strictly got decent points or nothing as out of all of the voters there was only one who gave it fewer than 5 points so gracias also to AH Gold, Chez, Rollo, Jade, Scene, Wardy, Bjork, Dobbo, Mango and Suedehead + Cody for the solitary mealworm That's now 2 of my 5 song contest winners that are sung (at least mostly) in Arabic so perhaps I ought to find more Arabic songs in the future I felt a little cheeky sending a song that's technically not exactly a direct cover although from what I can tell it is effectively a one to one translation so close enough - the original version of the song was actually allegedly inspired by Rachid's music after he gave them a demo tape in the early 80s so this cover was him 'reclaiming' it in a way (I don't think there's any beef though!) with more authentic Arabic musical elements, jumped out to me as a really cool instrumental arrangement in the verses while staying more faithful to the sound of the original in the chorus. Very pleased to see it going down so well here (incidentally I'm also only just realising now somehow that this cover was only released in 2004, I just assumed it was older than that I guess! Though ofc the rules only stipulated that the original version needed to be from the 21st century so it's all good anyway) Will have to have a think re a potential theme for the next one of these then, with how badly I've done in most of the previous editions it's not a hypothetical that I've kept on my mind too often haha! I guess I'll have a few months to mull it over x From the last couple of reveals, I actually thought Kelsey Lu might have been Chez's entry but now it's revealed of course it'd be Rollo sending the 10cc cover - I think that's maybe a shout for a song here I actually like more than the original version, lovely stuff. Well done Julian getting another medal after the Bop Idol win the other day, I would not have predicted Nina doing so well but well deserved! 3rd-9th place were all in my votes, very happy with 6th for The Breath Of Life which was quite an easy 12 for me, just a shame the other The Cure cover didn't fare nearly as well but nevermind! Tori Amos and Sophie Ellis-Bextor the other two outside the top 10 which got points from me, would have liked to see the latter do a bit better too, that one grew on me a fair bit on second listen. Thanks for the hosting Severin, was well worth the wait for the results...!
  12. I really liked Tori's take on 'Losing My Religion', definitely made it feel like her own song! Argh Severin still well in contention for a second win on the trot... (no matter what happens I hope I can get 5+ points from the remaining voters to make it to triple figures in this for the first time!)
  13. Well it turns out I might be reaching the heights of Locust again after all (in fact I already have more points than that got in total). I'll post some more after the final results since we're so close to the end anyway but how exciting xx (fwiw if I was going to predict a winner I think I would have said either Sylver or Gigi D'Agostino! but yay for me not shooting my own foot with the former though it wasn't far off my points, coming in 12th)
  14. I'd heard the Groove Armada track from listening back to the very first BJSC which it was also sent to (a little before Tartford's time but not by much!), cool to hear it again here though.
  15. Already knew this version of 'The Riddle' well from plug.dj back in the day - works surprisingly well (even if still not quite as good as the original)!
  16. What was Wardy's vetoed entry? I don't think I knew the original of dandy*'s entry at all so was somewhat judging it on different criteria than most of the others but it does sound great!
  17. Certainly an accurate description of that cover of 'The Lovecats'! (and sounding more like The Cure can never be a bad thing x)
  18. Thought the Dinosaur Jr. song was getting a bit of a harsh time on SyncTube, I was a fan at least x Suedehead sending the Suede adjacent entry shocker!
  19. I figured Mr Ed Jumps The Gun was Cody's when I was putting together the YouTube playlist and saw it was Dance Dance Revolution related x Nice pick from Julian.
  20. Knew there was no way Dolly Dots would be anyone other than WoW73 haha, you do keep trying to make them happen xx (this was a cute cover) Really enjoyed your own pick Severin! Oop though I can't say I particularly liked Chicks On Speed so I'm not so in tune with Chez's throwback picks at the moment... (at least I did love your BJSC entry last month x)
  21. I had forgotten about these coming tonight oops but Jade reminded me earlier - very much intrigued to see how my song will do, I think I'll be avoiding my usual depths but maybe not quite touching the heights of Locust x (inb4 I come last anyway)
  22. This week's #2s: Ariana Grande - 34+35 (Remix) (feat. Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion) Billie Eilish - Therefore I Am Drake - Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby) Drake - Laugh Now Cry Later (feat. Lil Durk) Drake - Wants And Needs (feat. Lil Baby) Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now Dua Lipa - Levitating (feat. DaBaby) Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits Future - Life Is Good (feat. Drake) J. Cole, 21 Savage and Morray - m y . l i f e Jack Harlow - WHATS POPPIN (Remix) (feat. DaBaby, Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne) Juice WRLD and Marshmello - Come & Go Justin Bieber - Yummy Luke Combs - Forever After All Maroon 5 - Memories Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby - Do We Have A Problem? A couple of songs there (and indeed on the #1s list) that I'd already almost entirely forgotten existed Nominating these anyhoo: Drake - Laugh Now Cry Later (feat. Lil Durk) Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now Dua Lipa - Levitating (feat. DaBaby)
  23. 45 mins left for any further votes x
  24. https://sync-tube.de/room/G3URuYMG Back today from 4pm for the penultimate session! Will get the #2s list up in a little bit x We must have at least a couple of RIP slots after 2 weeks
  25. Omg... this x
