i dunno if i'll open flood gates saying this... but wasn't it always going to be #1?
Yes, you're right on this occasion x
~
The first 3 singles from this have all been decent enough - better on the whole than the singles from the last album bar 'Frail State Of Mind' - but I just can't bring myself to care about them really. I do love DJ Sabrina getting some mainstream exposure (sort of) but 'Happiness' is not her best work really, if anything that's probably my least favourite of those singles oops (but really I like them all roughly the same amount).

Stormzy up to a new peak of #10 on Spotify now. And we do indeed have triple 'Miss You' in the top 100 now, southstar original dropping a place to #34 but the sped up version rises again to #84.
Several of Lil Baby's album tracks are also rebounding today along with The 1975's. Notably 'Forever' (feat. Fridayy) has had a huge climb to #63 and is now his second highest song (only 6 places below its debut position, when it entered as only his 7th highest). 'California Breeze' is his highest at #42, 'Real Spill' rounding out his top 3 dropping a place to #72.

Stormzy back to his peak on Spotify again already, looks like it should still be a decent hit for him then if not quite on the level of 'Vossi Bop' or 'Own It'. 'Bad Habit' back up to its peak once again as well, currently tough to see it cracking the top 3 but it keeps proving to outlast some of the songs that held it at #4 before!
Wow a huge jump for the sped up version of southstar there, could have 3 versions of the song in the top 100 tomorrow then. Very interesting that this is doing so well as usually these sped up/slowed versions don't really make much impact even when they are the versions that actually went viral. Great to see southstar also finally top 100 on Apple.
Just heard that Beach Weather track yesterday and I am quite a fan, gives me a little bit of a Glass Animals vibe. Hope that can go top 40!

Daniel Avery has been dropping basically nothing but bangers all year and 'Higher' is definitely my favourite of his 2022 output to date (/his entire discography) so an excellent choice of #1  Super excited for his album.
I love all of your top 8 here - Sung was really robbed, that was your best entry for a while :/ but still grateful for the discovery of course. Love the Beach Boys vibes on the Panda Bear/Sonic Boom track, it really is a time capsule! Julien Bracht fast becoming a new fave electronic act for me (after discovering him via a remix by the aforementioned Daniel Avery) with the song here being my fave I've heard from him to date <3 and 'There'd Better Be A Mirrorball' is a gorgeous comeback from the Arctics, working better for me than anything off their last era.
Some good stuff in the lower half here too, particularly the belated appearance for Mitski, easily by favourite song from her. The George FitzGerald song is fab too but there were a few others from that album I liked more, the trio of 'Setting Sun', 'Cosmonaut Alley' and 'Retina Flash' midway through in particular is just gorgeous as I mentioned in the thread for the album.
I really need to get on Gabe Gurnsey with all of this hype coming from various people who I trust to have good taste x

Billboard appear to have quietly changed their rules to be more liberal in allowing older songs that have gone viral to debut in #51-100 / Bubbling Under, hence the chart appearances for Lil Baby's 'Freestyle', Ghost's 'Mary On A Cross' and Steve Lacy's 'Dark Red' in recent weeks as well. I think it's a sensible rule change for once, most of these songs weren't particularly popular on their original release so it makes little sense to arbitrarily deny them a chart position until they make the top 50.
Boo at Lil Baby's album not coming one week earlier to stop Glass Animals beating The Weeknd's record :P

Thanks to all for another week with good turnout, glad this has continued to be a success!
Not so many established classics this week but still a lot of great stuff, 'Hergest Ridge (Part One)' easily my discovery of the week and I expected no less from Mike Oldfield  Also really enjoyed the little folk trio near the start from Neil Young, Paul Simon and Lindisfarne, the Rick Wakeman song was a great discovery too + I did already know and love 'Angie' but didn't actually know it was by The Rolling Stones so hooray education!

Good CHRIST these vocals :puke2: pity as the production itself is rather good, although sounds absolutely nothing like Robin Schulz. Just an odd creation all round.
Almost as if it, very famously, isn't Robin Schulz :kink:
Good to see southstar clarifying that he didn't actually sell the song to Robin, I really don't know how he's allowed to get away with this.

Sharing a link that Phil posted in the mod forum regarding the history of Comic Sans because I really don't think this is exactly very widely known (I've certainly never come across it after many, many years of Comic Sans being a very frequent target of 'haha font bad' jokes on the Internet):
