BJSC 171 IS BRAT SEMI FINAL RESULTS
...and I did have a bad feeling about Terra Avium too, aw not being wrong on that one </3 unfortunately it was one that I thought I should probably have liked more than I did but I still gave it 1 point and it sucks to see a shoegaze entry missing out. 2 more good qualifiers to finish on again though, FARC's in particular grew on me a lot on second listen (I've not heard the original version of the song but I think the vocals fit the production on this version pretty well anyway). Will post where I ranked all the DNQs after I finish relistening and re-ranking semi 1 x edit: From my semi: 12 QUALIFIED 10 QUALIFIED 8 QUALIFIED 7 QUALIFIED 6 QUALIFIED 5 QUALIFIED 4 EAST RUKAHAVIAN 3 QUALIFIED 2 QUALIFIED 1 TERRA AVIUM 12th POPHub 14th Summericia 18th Singerpurear 25th Macromia From semi 1: 7th Conoria 13th Utopia 17th IKR Dakoteh 24th Jupiterdonia 25th Herbilore 26th Yehesi

BJSC 171 IS BRAT SEMI FINAL RESULTS
Well the last 2 semi 1 qualifiers are both great, glad for Elëdan especially as I was getting worried about them  but I am gutted at Conoria coming 21st a second contest in a row and with 2 really good entries (I'm doing my relisten of semi 1 now, I had it ranked 8th on first listen but actually liked it even more the second time so probably going to move it up at least 1 place) :( #endconoriaracism

Oop Charlotte Sands out is quite a surprise, this was much better than her previous entry for me (ranked it 12th, not far off snatching a point).

Summericia was 14th for me, thought it sounded like a song I was going to stan from the first few seconds but then the rest didn't quite live up to that, still a good song though and didn't deserve to be out aw.

Aw already lost one of my votes, East Rukahavian got 4 points from me. Can't say I'm super surprised it's out but I hoped it might make it through, really lovely entry. I quite liked the IKR Dakoteh song too. Oop at a return followed by a non-vote tho x

Land of DW and Bronzil *.* the former was a good anniversary entry pick, throwing me back to more of the sound I want from Lindsey Stirling x

Well... Aitch trying to diss track his way back into relevance is probably better than him making subpar sample-driven DnB songs x Pretty good hold on day 2 for Central Cee's album.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Definitely would never have predicted 'CRG' to do 'Sprinter' numbers, it's still a decent debut for it considering it has some things working against it (Cench made a video for 'Limitless' rather than this one, it's quite deep into the album tracklist and as posted earlier Dave hasn't really been promoting it + indeed a Central Cee lead is bound to not attract as much attention as a Dave lead). But yeah, not quite going to be troubling #1 it seems, unless it starts gaining virality. Think it's worth noting that Central Cee in general has made a much bigger splash on Spotify than he did with '23' (that landed only 1 new song and 3 songs in total in the top 40 on day one), and I'm not sure I'd say he feels like that much bigger a name now than he did in 2022 so that's another +1 to the argument that marketing as an 'album' really is different to marketing as a 'mixtape'. Unless you're Headie One anyway, still not sure how his last album tanked so spectacularly. Tate McRae's previous two singles getting pretty huge boosts just from the release of a third single! (Sam Fender as well, funny that they've released on the same week again after 'People Watching' and '2 hands' also dropped on the same week).

US Hot 100 – 01/25/2025
Nice to see CHRYSTAL and especially Imogen Heap both sneaking into the lower end of the chart, really quite amazed that the former has been a hit outside the UK! (On the other hand though, do not need 'Forever Young' to be a hit - odd that it's charted in the US when it's not done so in the UK yet). Oh my at an Arctic Monkeys track charting on Bubbling Under too. Talk of the Charts' final projection had Gaga/Bruno beating Bad Bunny by 2 'points' (264 to 262). To be honest I'm surprised looking at the numbers that it was so close, 'Die With A Smile' was not wildly far behind on streaming (only ~7.7 million) and had the edge on sales for what little that counts for, so you'd think it having 62 million on radio compared to effectively 0 for 'DtMF' would give it a huge lead! I guess streaming is actually weighted more heavily than I thought.

US Hot 100 #1 SyncTube sessions
Another 40 songs deeper into the 90s tomorrow :jump: including the first songs from someone we'll be hearing a lot from in the remaining sessions x This week's #2s: Alias - More Than Words Can Say Amy Grant - Every Heartbeat Bette Midler - From A Distance Billy Idol - Cradle Of Love Bryan Adams - Can't Stop This Thing We Started Cathy Dennis - Touch Me (All Night Long) Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up En Vogue - Hold On Janet Jackson - Come Back To Me Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now Lenny Kravitz - It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over MC Hammer - Pray Natural Selection - Do Anything Roxette - Fading Like A Flower (Every Time You Leave) Rythm Syndicate - P.A.S.S.I.O.N. Snap! - The Power Not as strong as last week's selection (from the ones I know anyway). Will nominate these: Cathy Dennis - Touch Me (All Night Long) Roxette - Fading Like A Flower (Every Time You Leave) Snap! - The Power (although I know the former two better from covers/remixes than the originals oop!) Looks like the most notable musical deaths of the week were members of The Band and Whitesnake, if anyone has a request for them or anyone else let me know x (there's also a rapper called Unk who had a top 10 hit in the US in 2006 but didn't cross over to the UK, can't say I've heard of him before).
