Yeah Lil Baby was overperforming on Apple then, although similar result for 'Dum, Dumb, And Dumber' at least. Only 4 songs from him in the Spotify top 200 (with the Travis collab being his third highest there after 'Listen Up'). The Doechii song has been out for a while but it did just get a music video so looks like that's had a pretty strong effect, could be a breakout hit for her. SZA's 'BMF' up to #27, looks like it should go top 40 this week. Also just spotted a big rise to #76 for Avicii's 'Wake Me Up', impact of the new Netflix documentary about him I guess - could get a reset?

Lady Gaga - UK Chart Runs & Sales
Certifications are automatic in the UK, there's no such thing as 'platinum eligible'. It does appear they were a bit late announcing the certifications from the last week of the year though yes.

Calvin Harris & Rihanna - This Is What You Came For
^ that would explain the reset then (although I think it was probably a manual reset, similar to what happened with Disclosure's 'You & Me'). I did look to see if there was a new version that had dropped to justify 'active promotion' but only on Spotify, didn't consider the possibility of it being a random Amazon exclusive.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
There weren't any big chart hits from the original Moana either (although obviously a couple have racked up big sales over time). I am a little surprised there wasn't a more concentrated streaming surge for at least one song from the new film though. I don't see the Mufasa song on Kworb, I assume it is/was 'I Always Wanted A Brother' since that's the one in the current official top 100? Lil Baby/Young Thug/Future now up to #20 on Apple, next 2 highest songs at #40 and #53 and a few more have entered the top 200 since my last update.

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
Oops sorry I wasn't here to comment along live but quickly caught up now - first order of business, I need to post my PM as you r00dly didn't include my commentary which contains a very fun fact :P After my temporary high coming top 3 in the last edition of this I'm back down to more familiar territory, although by one metric this is still my 2nd best performing entry ever - it is only the second one to not finish in the bottom 7, pushing the boat out to bottom 8  Was happy enough to finish that high though considering I got off to a veeery sluggish start and felt destined for another bottom 3 shortly into my quick catchup read - was saved by a couple of medals, thank you very much Cow for the gold and Jester for the bronze plus the coveted 7 from Savan  (I did hope you'd be a fan x). Thanks Scene, Dandy and Herbs for the remainder of my points as well, I suppose it's a very lowkey track that'd be easy to just blend into the background so go figure it didn't set the scoreboard on fire but I found it really charming. Was also resigned for a while to this just being a predictable and underwhelming Depeche Mode win (sorry AH Gold, I did like it enough for a commiseration but it's nowhere near their best work, would have been a straight repeat of my whelmed reaction to Muse winning the last Bop Idol ) so absolutely thrilled that my 10 pointer Curve came through to snatch the win at the end  I actually did think or at least hope that could be in the mix to win but wasn't confident enough to make a prediction. I only know Curve from having been sent to BJSC before with the also excellent 'Horror Head', I liked this song even more though, right up my street. Well done on the win Severin! Great to see Delerium finishing on the podium too and a couple more of my big faves Fluke and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds also coming top 10. I know I said I also didn't want Placebo to win but aw 17th is much too low for that! Both Monolake and Various Artists robbed as well, where's the love for minimal electronica x (I did kind of assume the latter was !!! and therefore would be getting deducted, although that barely made a difference to its position in the end oops). Also gah me losing the battle of the 'Super' artists by just 3 points :P Thanks for the hosting Addy, very enjoyable contest :jump:

His last album opened with 4 songs in the top 40 on Spotify with the highest at #23, I think he might have actually done better on Apple but not sure without looking it up. Wish Apple was as easy to look up archives of as Spotify is. (The reception to this new album seems to be pretty lukewarm as expected anyway so I still don't expect much from it but the Thugger/Future collab could at least give us a new entry in the top 40 this week maybe).

A few songs from Lil Baby's album are showing up on Apple (I think the top track is Young Thug's first release since he got out of jail so that's at least a slight point of interest?) 36 Dum, Dumb, And Dumber (w/ Young Thug and Future) 64 Listen Up 103 F U 2x 105 I Promise 143 By Myself (w/ Rylo Rodriguez feat. Rod Wave) 147 Stuff (feat. Travis Scott) 166 Redbone (w/ GloRilla) 187 Due 4A Win Only other newie (been out a couple of days but only entered now) is Morgan Wallen - Smile at #142.

Oh yeah of course, I'd forgotten about that, makes a bit more sense then.

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
I did like the Placebo and Depeche Mode songs but I hope neither of them win. It always feels a little anticlimactic when the most well-known artists win these things. That said I also have no clue what actually will win, it won't be me tho x

Buzzjack’s favourite Christmas #2: the rate!
I'm not sure if I'd be into 'JCB Song' if it came out today but I have only positive nostalgia for it.

Buzzjacks Favourite 21st Century Christmas Song
It's not even in the top 10 Christmas classics on the current sales chart. (in fact it actually ranks lower in the sales chart than it does in the streaming chart! :P)

If it is chart eligible it appears it'd be on ACR btw... this particular piece of white noise is dated 29th April 2020 on Spotify. Maybe if the algorithm favoured a more recent 'release' we might have seen it in the chart by now!
-
Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Oh maybe I'm wrong then lol. I'm sure I specifically remembered that the white noise songs had never been certified. (Surely this one should have appeared in the audio streaming chart at some point by now if it was eligible though?)

The white noise isn't chart eligible (although I feel there's an argument it maybe should be if The RSPB and John Cage were allowed to chart!) I actually saw an interesting article on Reddit the other day about the white noise Spotify grift - a bit of a plot twist that it turns out to involve Ameritz who some with good memories may recall were also behind one of the first 'fake versions' to appear in the UK chart (with 'their' version of Leona Lewis' version of 'Run'). https://edm.com/industry/spotify-white-noise-spammers

Ooh at 'Headlock' jumping so much today - I was kind of here for it having an ikonik run peaking at #74 in two different years but would be great if it can go top 40 x The way she stylised this title I keep reading it as 'I.T. girl'. Did her music career already not pan out xx (:kink:)
