  2. Oop didn't realise this deadline was creeping up - will try and get some votes in later tonight ~

'Oats In The Water' and 'Not Strong Enough' standing out to me as highlights from this week's silver certification dump. Surprised 'Sour Candy' wasn't already certified oop!

Poor timing for '2 hands' if it is going to ACR this week since it's got a pretty big bump on Spotify from her new single's release. (Although not complaining as it's a mid song x)

Ooh I didn't know Wardruna had a new album out. I guess Mogwai won't be repeating the surprise #1 they got with their last album but will be interesting to see if they improve on their sales. Hopefully FKA twigs can get a new highest charting album (I'd forgotten that 'MAGDALENE' actually charted lower than 'LP1' so the #16 peak of that is still the mark to beat). Think it should be an easy #1 for Central Cee as he's been a pretty decent pure seller before as well as dominating on streaming, not sure I could see Teddy Swims competing with that.
  6. I choose to believe people were just so outraged by the early exit of 'The Next Episode' that we all conspired for 'Forgot About Dre' to win instead x Both good tunes here but Dre to win (I've made it a tie oop).
  7. In the top 40 for the first time you mean x (it's also just become her first US Hot 100 hit, just about, sneaking in at #100). This is an absolute classic, wonderful to see a new generation discovering it
  8. Odds on it having 40+ songs this time? x

I caught up on these polls last night as well as the Pop and Indie ones but Wardy also closed the poll for this too early for me to put my vote in, though I'd only have been expanding BICEP's lead anyway x Week 2: 1 deadmau5 2 Lane 8 3 AVAION 4 Camden Cox 5 Damian Lazarus 6 Anyma 7 Nora En Pure 8 Alan Walker Week 3: 1 BICEP 2 Lawrence Hart 3 MAFRO 4 Ahadadream 5 ESSEL 6 AR/CO 7 John Summit 8 Aitch Playlisted my top 3 and top 2 respectively ~
  10. I'm pretty sure you can unlock your own threads! (I'm able to lock/unlock my threads in the International Charts forum which I'm not a mod of for example x) Dw anyway, if you can just add 1 onto Lucy Dacus in the OP that'd have the same effect :magic: edit: ah I see it is unlocked now so added my vote there x Ranking from that last poll: 1 Lucy Dacus 2 Mumford & Sons 3 Jungle 4 Biig Piig 5 Skunk Anansie 6 Architects 7 The Wombats 8 Inhaler Pretty mediocre list, the Lucy one is the only one I'll be coming back to. Belated ranking for week 1 (or 2 I guess x): 1 Squid 2 zzzahara 3 Doves 4 Manic Street Preachers 5 Ethel Cain 6 The Amazons 7 Japanese Breakfast 8 Franz Ferdinand 9 Sports Team 10 The Lumineers That was a much better list, I've playlisted all of my top 5 there.
  11. Can you unlock the other thread pls, I was literally 2 minutes away from voting (I did ask you to wait for me -_-)

The Dave collab ('CRG') is #1 on NMF UK. 'Limitless' is on there too but only track 16 (he also has a third song at track 33, the collab with Lil Durk). Not sure why they didn't put 'CRG' on the Aus/NZ NMF, 'Sprinter' was a big hit there! edit: also just checked and 'CRG' was instantly added as song 5 on Hot Hits UK as well. I won't say it's a surefire #1 but I think it has a decent chance.

1 Michael Marcagi 2 Kylie Minogue 3 Cher Lloyd 4 Zoe Wees 5 Bradley Simpson 6 Craig David 7 Marshmello 8 Cian Ducrot Not super impressed by anything this week but the Marcagi song is better than his big hit x Belated rankings from the first two polls: Week 1: 1 Celeste 2 Rose Gray 3 Alessi Rose 4 Nathan Evans 5 dexter in the newsagent 6 Roxie 7 Morgan Wallen 8 Wes Nelson Week 2: 1 Prima Queen 2 JADE 3 IDER 4 Olly Alexander 5 Julia Michaels 6 Teddy Swims 7 Dean Lewis 8 Leony

I'm just catching up on this and the indie poll so wait for me pls :teresa:
  15. Think both semis are about the same level of quality this month ~ Bronzil, Danæviia, Skall and Trifoski can take my hiipe from semi 2.

It has already gone top 20 btw (unless you just meant returning to the top 20) x
  17. https://sync-tube.de/room/ApAM3t-I Semi 2 listenthrough from 8pm-ish :jump: (sorry it's clashing with The Traitors but it would be tomorrow or Friday as well and don't want to leave it until Saturday x)
  18. Had to remind myself of a few of these again (to check if any of them were worse than The Cheeky Girls :P), Fragma was my least fave sounding iTunes preview of the ones I'm less familiar with, no 'Toca's Miracle' sadly x
  19. Well Evanescence went sooner than I expected but I'm jumping straight to the song that'll probably win now - sorry Robyn, it is a good song but definitely my clear least favourite as I really like all of the others.

WaiT that's kind of a stacked feature list though.
  21. 'Run To The Hills' and 'Glow' were close to my votes, otherwise not much of note dropping out today.

I presume you are aware of this but in case you're not, the song was released last year and was already starting to gain traction in the US in December so it will have had fairly decent sales in the UK for the first week of the year when it wasn't charting, just blew up a lot more after the video dropped.
  23. I'm not sure I'd go as far as wanting to ban all top 40 hits, most of the non-BJSC contests only ban top 10 hits and I feel that'd be sufficient. Although really the only reason Chappell being entered here was a "problem" is that it was literally the only massive hit that was entered, there's nothing inherently wrong with having a contest where it's fair game to send obvious huge hits (that was the case for the dance anthems spinoffs in BJSC for example, those had a good mix of big hits and more inspired entries from those who still wanted to send them (which I still always would personally) x) but until this year people just avoided sending them here anyway as if following an unwritten rule that entries should be at least somewhat inspired, so having just the one person picking something so obvious stuck out like a sore thumb. Obviously I don't hold any of this against Scene, he didn't break any rules and pretty sure he didn't even enter the first two editions to be aware of that 'convention'! (This is all funnily enough very analogous to the Sound of 2025 outcome which Chappell of course also won )
