  1. The correct top 2 from this list, go Florence! Still one of their best songs for me.

Wow at 2 Fontaines D.C. songs re-entering on Spotify today, amazed how much longevity this era has managed! I don't think the white noise releases are chart eligible, don't think they ever get certified etc. Lmao at it hitting the top 30 now though *_* Looks like Tyler may be improving on his highest chart position again with 'Like Him' then!
  3. It's just nigh on impossible to compete with songs that have been racking up respectable numbers for the entire 52 weeks of the year. The long tail of streaming is much fatter than that of downloads. (Downloads still had a significant influence on the charts for a couple of years after the introduction of streaming hence the effect not being as pronounced at first). Even at most big hits' peaks, they're not doing that much more per week than 'Mr. Brightside' et al.
  4. I'm not sure there was ever a point where it wasn't obvious it'd just be Gracie returning? (I guess there was some hope when 'Messy' started really blowing up that it might overtake by the new year but then it stalled a bit sadly, not sure it's likely to get there at all now).
  5. Chuckling a bit at Gracie finishing below Westlife. As many as 4 people voting for 'My Ding-A-Ling' though? *_*
  6. Maisie Peters' Amazon song has also re-charted for a couple of weeks this year and that one didn't even chart that high in its first run. And Ellie Goulding did have a small run in her second year. So it's not that rare, but obviously they only give the songs the really excessive push one time each. (edit: Bieber's 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' also spent a few weeks charting low down in its second year)

'APT.' has increased by nearly 2k this week so it's surely back on 0 weeks of decline. But I assume it wouldn't actually have been put to ACR next week anyway (except in the midweeks) even if it had declined again.

There are 3 non Xmas songs back in the top 10 and 10 in the top 40 compared to 2 top 10 and 8 top 40 last year so not really - 'Stick Season' did get to #1 on Boxing Day last year but only barely, less than 100 streams ahead of 'Last Christmas'!
  9. I sort of half considered giving 1 point to 'Singing The Blues', nothing else of value lost so far (out of songs that I actually remember) x

Really? I'd say it's one of the most interesting charts of the year seeing what songs come through / rebound to new peaks as all the Christmas songs are flushed out.
  11. I've never watched Gavin & Stacey but I greatly applaud the producers for broadcasting 'Pelican' to the biggest Christmas Day TV audience for years. What a tune *.*

'Clean Baby Sleep White Noise (Loopable)' and 'Mr. Brightside' unable to be dislodged by Christmas Day :cheeseblock:
  13. 'You're So Vain' and 'Photograph' have both already been played in the main sections of this series of listenthroughs. Maybe I could just finally play the "correct" version of 'You're So Vain' after people keep complaining that the wrong version gets played?

Relative to BuzzJack expectations the one that always sticks in mind is 'Silly Boy' by Eva Simons, there was a pretty strong consensus on here that it was going to be a #1 or at least a big top 10 hit and it proceeded to miss the top 100 entirely. (Although Eva did eventually get a #1 ofc).
  15. Julian enabled my tardiness  +20 Fairytale Of New York +19 Hallelujah +18 Patience +17 Caravan Of Love +16 I Believe In Father Christmas +15 Y.M.C.A. +14 Sunshine Superman +13 Rock Around The Clock +12 Magical Mystery Tour EP +11 JCB Song +10 Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) +9 Sweet But Psycho +8 What's My Name? +7 She Loves You +6 Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S. 16. Just heard this on Radio 1 the other day and enjoyed it - I notice it's crept into the Spotify top 100 today so hopefully it might have a chance of sneaking into the official top 100 this week, would be their first charting song if so (although I hadn't realised that it had been hanging around the lower half of the top 200 for a couple of weeks already, a little surprised it hasn't already charted considering it's obviously on SCR, must be not doing much on other platforms I guess).

Is that a new Sabrina Carpenter song x

It's not the first time she's been #5 this year (she was there for 20/12 as well) but before this year her peak was #6.
  19. It's only anonymous until the results! (i.e. no you can't x)

Wonder why Spotify are pushing Céline Dion for Christmas so much this year - as well as 'O Holy Night' having a big surge to #32 (as predicted), she has a second song in the top 200 now, 'The Prayer' w/ Andrea Bocelli debuting at #171. Actually quite a few Christmas songs charting on Spotify for the first time today: 125 Dolly Parton - Hard Candy Christmas 138 Teddy Swims - Silent Night 144 Dean Martin - A Marshmallow World 168 Ed Sheeran - Under The Tree 169 Demi Lovato - I'll Be Home For Christmoist 171 Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli - The Prayer 176 Seth MacFarlane and Liz Gillies - We Wish You The Merriest 186 Frank Sinatra - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Tiny nitpick sorry but shouldn't the peak for 'Christmas Lights' be #13?
  23. I will be there but might be leaving or at least not typing in the chat any more from around 9:15-9:30 onwards.
  24. Gabrielle is one of the worst ones lmao
  25. It was billed as Wham! feat. George Michael in the US yes, but I'm using the UK credits because that makes no sense x (same with Sheena Easton the other week)
