Bop Idol 4 - The Results
I need to catch up properly with the first half of this (have only skimmed it last night) so will probably just wait until the end to comment on everything but happy to see Tokio doing quite well at the (a little over) halfway stage, hopefully looking good to at least be my first top 10 finish in one of these - although I have my sights set on my rival Escala which I just knew was going to be Chez blocking my first choice artist xx

YUNGBLUD - Changes (Live From Villa Park)

Songs that describe a dream
I have to plug one of my BJSC entries which is almost entirely this (and I feel you might like it Bjork x)

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 11/07/25
There were actually 5 songs allowed to chart at once from the first JACKBOYS album (3 that credited JACKBOYS as the lead artist and one each that were primarily billed to Travis Scott and Don Toliver), so again depends on the OCC's consistency with their own rules.

Songs that have had four or more chart runs in the Top 40 without Christmas songs
Ah I didn't know that, I did think it was odd that it'd be omitted from the series!

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 11/07/25
The first JACKBOYS album was relegated to the compilations chart so theoretically this one should be as well (relying on the OCC having consistent application of its own rules etc.) - but yeah I don't think it'd be surprising anyone that it'll do better numbers than Clipse. More curious to see if it'll compete with Bieber in the US. Will probably go to #1 there when the vinyl comes out if not anyway. Not sure that the timing of its release vs. Clipse's album is anything more than a coincidence, I saw that it was being dropped on 13th July because 713 is the area code of Houston, Texas.

Round 2: Year End Survivor #122
Was going to check the iTunes previews for the handful of songs that I don't know/remember only to find none of them are even on iTunes (Stuntmasterz and Friday Hill both having karaoke versions by a 'La-Le-Lu' though ) The Stuntmasterz song does actually sound fine, funny that 'The Boy Is Mine' has been half of a mashup for two one hit wonder dance acts. Voting for Friday Hill.

Songs that have had four or more chart runs in the Top 40 without Christmas songs
As alluded to on SyncTube today Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' very nearly qualifies for this - #13 in 1980, #19 in 1983, #19 again in 1995 but falling just short at #46 in 2007.

How many steps did you take yesterday?
I managed to just barely hit an average of 10k per day across 2023 according to my Health app (10,088 to be precise) but I've slipped quite a bit since then, 7,783 per day on average for 2024 and down to 5,347 for 2025 so far whoops. (To be fair the big dropoff largely coincides with when I started working full time and thus stopped doing biweekly long walks to and from my volunteering job - I initially tried to aim to walk to and from work once a week but have largely given that up now as well, I still go for a long walk every weekend but I really do need to put in some effort to get my numbers back up a bit outside of that, could do with the heatwave buggering off first though) I've done 4,448 today and 9,184 yesterday ~

Julian rates every Top 40 hit: the 1980s edition
Agreed with your top pick there as well and back to being a little more in sync with your ratings in general although I'd rate 'We Are Glass' much higher, that was one of my top 5 of last week - Gary Numan seems to be an artist who can't really do much wrong for me x (also am not really too keen on the M*A*S*H song but I can see the appeal). 'The Bucket Of Water Song' has haunted my nightmares since hearing it x

The UK Top 40 singles of the 1980s: listening sessions + polls
Elvis Costello & The Attractions - New Amsterdam Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart Peter Gabriel - No Self Control Siouxsie And The Banshees - Christine Splodgenessabounds - Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps Please 2 discoveries (Peter and Siouxsie) and 3 I already knew this week (although I don't think I've heard 'New Amsterdam' for many years so that's also basically a re-discovery). Just missing out from the others I already knew are Kate Bush, Bob Marley & The Wailers and The Korgis (another one I don't know that well though) and my next favourite discovery was Yellow Magic Orchestra. The first side of the Splodgenessabounds single was a good discovery too, not really sure how we're meant to be dealing with voting for double A-Sides but I did already previously submit a vote for only 'Going Underground' so continuing that precedent I guess x 'A Forest' for the tiebreaker obvz

Deadline has been extended to Wednesday anyway! (just not updated in the title yet)

Songs that have had four or more chart runs in the Top 40 without Christmas songs
Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' has had 6 runs in the top 40, although 4/6 of those were just returning for a single week due to Halloween downloads/streams (the other two of course being its original release and his death) so it's not quite fitting the spirit of the thread - if only it had been among his series of 2006 re-releases it could have had runs for 4 distinct reasons. Likewise Ray Parker Jr.'s 'Ghostbusters' has had 4 runs but 3 were for the same reason. Cannot immediately think of any others that aren't just regular seasonal returners!

He already fell off it with 'On My Mind'.

Ten years ago today was the last Sunday chart
Why don't they do it then?

Where have all the bands gone?
Fontaines D.C.'s album actually has stuck around in the chart with consistent streaming though - they haven't had any huge singles yet but 'Starburster', 'Favourite' and 'Bug' have all been sleeper hits with long legs, and they did finally crack the top 40 albeit briefly with 'It's Amazing To Be Young'. I think their next album could produce a properly big mainstream hit if they play their cards right. (Still, slim pickings but they're probably the best we have for a modern 'mainstream' band, them or Sleep Token but I think they've moreso just amassed a very big cult fanbase)

Citation needed Spotify don't even update the numbers on their own platform until the following afternoon.

iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 11th July 2025
I saw a BBC News article about the slow-burning success of the Lord Huron song earlier today, not sure if that alone has propelled it into the iTunes top 5 or if it's had some more significant promo somewhere else.

The Pop Factor: Season 1 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Was pleasantly surprised when I had a quick look at CHVRCHES' Spotify profile earlier that 'Death Stranding', my personal favourite song by them, is sitting at #5 in their current top 10 songs! (has since come to my attention that there is a second Death Stranding game that's just come out so I guess that is why, we like to see it getting some more attention anyway). Assuming it's probably unlikely Ansel would have picked it for the final anyway so lemme just plug it myself xo

The Pop Factor: Season 1 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Louise actually wasn't in my bottom 2 of this round in all seriousness! (though I don't think it really offers anything that the original version of the song didn't x) Her participation in this was worthwhile for me discovering that '2 Faced' is her song I guess, I did like that one x

RATE: Buzzjack's Ultimate Platinum Non-Top 40 Single: 2nd Semi-Final
Really sorry but I completely missed the threads for these going up oops, I think I just thought the semi 1 voting thread was the results thread from the first round vote for some reason. Although I did see that 'Ribs' finished really low so maybe you are all beyond saving and don't deserve my taste anyway xx () Will try and remember to vote in this and the final ~

The Pop Factor: Season 1 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Jay is complaining about no one commenting on Louise being gone so let me say yay that Louise is gone x

The Pop Factor: Season 1 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Ok that's rude from the guest judges x (I wouldn't have wanted The Saturdays to go but sad at CHVRCHES not making the final. For a second round in a row I'm surprised Mary J. Blige wasn't in the bottom 3... fair play but she sticks out like a sore thumb compared to all the other finalists imo and the last couple of songs from her really haven't been my cup of tea, I know she's capable of a banger as I do love 'Family Affair' so hope there's something special lined up for the final x)
