  1. Not if it's just you fishing for something to ragebait at x (do you have no thoughts on this update? xx) ((Will do one later x))
  2. Concocted the Excel wizardry required to check this and it has happened twice before - Bignia-Zaragovina voted for all of the top 11 in BJSC 30 and Kluminican Republic voted for all of the top 11 in BJSC 82. #extremelyobscurestats (in fact for the former it was the entire top 13 they voted for - although worth noting that was a contest with only 30 songs in it but still using the 18 point voting system).
  3. Apols for the delay due to my carelessness in not saving Excel but finally got all votes inputted again so here's this month's YTD update (I've even put in the previous positions this time after Rob's update made me think that's probably a good idea x). After the top 3 were separated by only 26 points in the last update, it spaces out considerably now with Neliönoir's win powering them out to a 151 point lead over Danæviia who hold in 2nd and now themselves have a 119 point lead over 3rd. But the gaps could tighten just as quickly as they widened with 3 contests still to go so stay tuned x Bøtanikkä's DNQ pushes them down 3 places to 6th with Kluminican Republic and Jadakissnia rising a place each to 3rd and 4th while Cor Lupus tumble -1 places down to 5th. Aeroche jump 2 places to 7th ahead of Hendinia and Fljótavík while Ajanaeda climb to 10th, knocking out Greenfroze (with FSR Rontvia also rallying to just outside the top 10 following their silver medal). My DNQ hasn't punished me as much as I expected, I'm only down 8 places and still solidly in the top 30 for now although it's a setback to my hopes of a return to the EOY top 20 which I am now just over 100 points off the pace for. 1 1 1562 Neliönoir 2 2 1411 Danæviia 3 4 1292 Kluminican Republic 4 5 1242 Jadakissnia 5 6 1235 Cor Lupus 6 3 1211 Bøtanikkä 7 9 1210 Aeroche 8 7 1172 Hendinia 9 8 1171 Fljótavík 10 11 1168 Ajanaeda 11 17 1134 FSR Rontvia 12 10 1108 Greenfroze 13 14 1072 Skall 14 16 1066 Kathaldazia 15 13 1034 Altyr Muunilinst 16 22 1030 Cumulonimbia 17 19 1026 Aesthetica 18 12 1026 FARC 19 21 993 République d'Áskorza 20 18 982 Why So Sirius 21 20 976 Land of DW 22 23 919 Bronzil 23 15 881 Persephonia 24 27 881 Trifoski 25 33 864 POPHub 26 28 856 Lotunia 27 30 856 Terra Avium 28 31 840 Pestolia 29 24 806 Séyetana 30 25 763 Baleghde 31 26 759 Macromia 32 34 755 Zanmatony 33 35 742 New Lexico 34 32 742 Mothertopia 35 29 732 Lookylion 36 37 664 Elëdan 37 36 654 Taahino 38 39 536 Thelonia 39 40 531 Aelandor 40 38 478 Scotland 2 41 49 462 Cheiron 42 46 438 Herbilore 43 47 436 A-Konohagakure 44 41 434 Dobago 45 42 418 Hinterlandia 46 43 399 Jupiterdonia 47 44 395 The Spodic Empire 48 45 387 Ben's Sanctuary 49 48 351 Yehesi 50 60 331 Summericia 51 50 288 Hushkanukia 52 57 260 Flynnonda 53 51 229 Singerpurear 54 ** 190 Utopia 55 52 164 Beaverdonia 56 53 157 Kylienips 57 54 141 Oslol 58 55 121 Ojnoj 59 ** 120 Sandénia 60 56 114 Niceland 61 58 106 Ultraviolenceland 62 59 97 Palmyra 63 61 93 East Rukahavian 64 62 83 Conoria 65 ** 63 Suedeonia
  4. (aside: just noticed the title of the Spotify playlist says Unknown Pleasures rather than Club Bizarre x) oh my at the playlist being nearly 3 hours long, better not dawdle too much with starting the listenthrough whenever we do that
  5. I just knew someone would send Autechre here! Down for hearing another song from them anyway, a couple of other familiar / semi-obvious names too but mostly new to me and I don't think I have heard any of the songs. There is one artist here who I stumbled across while looking for an entry but the song here isn't the one I listened to, just as well I didn't send that. Love that this of all themes has attracted a record number of entries *.* (also yes Leww sent Venetian Snares to a previous Club Bizarre and to one of the Halloween BJSC spinoffs!)
  6. Well, the second half of the results certainly went better for me with my score tripling although that only being good enough to move up 2 places, still in the bottom 5. I'm a little gutted at that really but nevermind! Savan knows where it's at with that silver medal at least <3 and thanks muchly to dhwe, Doctor Blind and Harry for the other points! Oh my at Cow picking another certified anime banger, didn't realise this one was an anime song this time but what a tune nonetheless, you taking all of my anon contest gold medals now x Also a brilliant entry from Jim (Just Mustard are a band I have been vaguely aware of for a while but can't remember if I ever heard any songs from them until now, this one was a great first impression if so so definitely a band I need to pay more attention to) and good stuff from Cody, dhwe (shocker xx) and Whoddy as well. Congrats uhsting on the win, The Haunted Youth were a great discovery for me from Rollo's previous BJSC spinoff entry from them and there was another song I stanned even more from them after that ('Broken'), 'Emo Song' is not quite as much of a fave for me as that but was still a great tone setter to open this contest and got a few points from me so cannot complain at that as a winner! 2nd-4th were all in my own top 4 so that's taste *.* not surprised at the success for Just Mustard and Wisp, LITE also smashing is a bit more unexpected but we love to see it. Shame the other of my top 4 (Cindytalk) dropped off a lot in the second half of the reveal though aw. Good that 2 more of my votes in Ichika Nito and Greet Death snuck into the top 10 too. Thanks for the hosting Addy, my disappointment in my own result here is made up for by the excellent overall quality of the songs here so good job all x
  7. The news has been circulating for a few days now but yeah further developments today. Until today the consensus seemed to be that it couldn't have actually been him who did anything as he had been out of state on tour but the new details are very sus - worth noting that he's not yet even charged with anything let alone convicted so may still be a bit too early to jump to conclusions but it's not looking too good for him oops. I really liked 'Romantic Homicide' at the time but yeah I'm not sure it's one I'm wanting to rush to relisten to right now lol
  8. Sorry I've missed the first half of these results, will hopefully be around for the rest. Although given how dreadfully I'm doing so far I'm not sure I want to be xx I genuinely thought this would be the song that would save me from my run of bad song contest results lately - admittedly it's also probably rather niche but I thought it'd attract at least a few other big fans - but it's doing even worse than the rest of them :') ah well... thanks uhsting for providing me with a medal and 3/4 of my points so far and Severin and Chez for the other small points, I suppose I should wait to see if there are more fans in the second half of the votes before dooming too much x @Severin appreciating the commentary included in your votes, I'd say the 'jazzy' element in this song is quite a big reason I was drawn to it (I already compared it to Squid in my own voting PM, maybe Maruja is a better comparison, although it is overall a little more on the punk side of post-punk than either of those), glad you liked it enough to give it a few points despite not being so sold on that anyway. On the bright side the rest of the results are largely looking good so far, my 12 currently in the lead and I voted for all of the current top 5. I think if I had been to predict a winner I would have said Wisp and indeed she is up there in the mix, woo. Pleasantly surprised to see Cindytalk so high up as well as iirc it didn't get the most enthusiastic response from SyncTube but it was a big standout to me! Fab entries from Ansel and Chez there, me returning a medal to Ansel even if I lost my streak of support in return x Scene, uhsting, Severin and Dobbo unmasked from my votes so far as well so great picks all (wondering whether it was uhsting's or Addy's error that The Haunted Youth's song title was wrong in the thread ) and glad to see Julia Wolf and Osamuraisan both doing ok so far as I wasn't sure how much of an audience they'd reach here, plus Iz's entry was quite the memorable standout even if it didn't quite make my votes (so many Japanese/adjacent entries and none of them were yours!!) Oooops that Jade's song just missed my votes although has ended up being a rare mutual snub *_* still yet to see the identity of my 12 so perched for that ~ @Scene did you see that Julia Wolf ended up featuring on Drake's latest single which dropped shortly after this contest started? Such a random development, I've not listened to it yet but very intrigued how her sound is supposed to mesh with Drake and Yeat (then again their previous collaboration started with a sample from an old jazz song that had no relation at all to the rest of the song so maybe it's just repeating that trick)
  9. I fight you x
  10. Can you just reveal blacksquare's entry now? The rest can wait x
  11. Anyhoo - the top end of the scoreboard did drift a bit from my tastes by the end and I only voted for 4 of the top 10 but it has ultimately ended up feeling like a pretty nice genre balance. Happy with Aeroche returning to big hit status after exiting their generic era, Fljótavík pulling the same trick as République d'Áskorza did last month for me with their host entry actually getting points from me and getting a solid mid top 10 result and very pleased that Kathaldazia did just about squeak out a top 10, although would have been a fave for me taking up at least one of those last two top 10 spots almost no matter what it seems as the 11-15 section is packed full of bangers, all of them making my own top 10! Aw at Danæviia ending up missing the top 10 as I'm sure they were in there for quite a lot of the reveal, but still a pretty decent result for them in the end, also probably better results than I'd have predicted for Cumulonimbia and Elëdan. Utopia's sounded very Neliönoir-y to my ears so I had kind of hoped it was heading for a dark horse top 10 but not quite in the end! Also yay for a pretty solid midtable for Flynnonda (and seems I never needed to be worrying about it DNQing...!), then another little patch of my faves in the 26-30 section which I'd have liked to see doing better but can see why they didn't do so. Bottom 10 and sub 100 points definitely feels undeserved for Bronzil this time (even if I didn't help out much by contributing again to their ongoing small points issue whoops x) and it is a shame that Suedeonia came last but was still a charming presence in the final - it actually jumped up to my 2 points from just outside my top 10 on my relisten of semi 2 which I see was responsible for costing Bøtanikkä a spot in the final, sorry Addy and I'd have been missing out by only 2 points instead of 4. ...and I've just realised that I accidentally closed my spreadsheet without saving changes after adding all the votes in to double check the final scoreboard so I'm going to have to redo the whole thing before posting the new YTD update oops! Think that's my cue to go to bed rather than stay up any later working on spreadsheet stuff, I'll aim to redo that and get the YTD up tomorrow evening (not that there's much tension over who's going to be #1 ) ((and here's fair warning that I will delete any ragebait replies from Cody so please try to be normal x))
  12. ^ per my correction post just now, Julia Fox does get you a new position after all
  13. Have double checked the scoreboard and just the one correction... which shakes up the top 3 ...in opposite world that is, it's the bottom 3 that it affects. Skall's 11 should be to Suedeonia rather than Thelonia, still not enough for Ducks Ltd. to escape last place sadly but it does bring them a good bit closer to the pack. Thelonia drop 2 places to 40th, Mothertopia and Herbilore up a place each to 38th and 39th respectively. All other points and positions match with the image version of the final scoreboard although noting that the Taahino/Cheiron tiebreak should be the other way round in the table version! All the tiebreaks for posterity: Fljótavík beat Cor Lupus (25 votes each, 2 18s to 1) Kathaldazia beat New Lexico (25 votes to 22) Cumulonimbia beat Utopia (25 votes to 19) Taahino beat Cheiron (17 votes each, 1 18 to 0) Trifoski beat Zanmatony (20 votes to 18) Lotunia beat Land of DW (20 votes to 16)
  14. 12 out of 17 votes for Avery Cochrane being medal positions is pretty crazy...! Had not realised just how all or nothing that was proving and definitely not what I'd have predicted, it's odd to think that a song that sounds like it could be a mainstream hit (maybe moreso in 2010 than now but still) ended up smashing into the top 5 via very focused niche votes rather than wide appeal.
  15. ...and further mixed feelings with this now being the 2nd contest in the last 3 where a major fave of mine has finished 2nd! (Arguably a third in a row as I gave MISS LUXURY double digit points too). At least this time it wasn't as heartbreakingly close as f5ve. So thrilled to see 'Korku' doing so well anyway even if the early lead was too good to be true, I do predictably always stan entries in this style but even by that standard this one did strike me immediately as a potential all-timer so very happy to see it connecting strongly with so many others as well, also love to see it for such an obscure artist, I think I am actually going to drop a few pennies on an iTunes download for the song if for no other reason than I am a little concerned at the possibility of it becoming lost media at some point! (will comment further on results after I've dusted off my calculator so as ever no one be celebrating their exact position too hard just yet x)
  16. Well done blacksquare, welcome to the 2 wins club (and I'm sure you'll join many others who have matched and then surpassed me while I remain stuck there x) Me going 7 for 7 on snubbing the winners this year, it's almost impressive at this point! This one does join ALT BLK ERA and Ninajirachi in at least being near misses for me though (ranking those 16th and 17th respectively vs. 18th for 'storm') so it's among the better winners of the year for sure. But it's also yet another winner that's a recycle of an artist who had a recent top 10 hit that I liked considerably more. As I said, mixed feelings xx (my post from earlier in the thread still stands, we demand Neliönoir hosting 2.0 x)
  17. I thought it seemed odd that Avery Cochrane appeared to have peaked at a time when the top 10 was otherwise looking overwhelmingly alt leaning - I see her having a late renaissance now x
  18. I wouldn't be opposed to a cheeky sim0ne win if there's enough runway for her to make up the gap x
  19. I will be forcing blacksquare to host again if he wins btw
  20. Hmm this is very much trending towards Night Tapes now it seems! I have mixed feelings about that prospect x
  21. As far as pure pop winners go I'd be fairly happy with Avery Cochrane if it is just that we're frontloading the more alt voters - sounds like a Katy Perry song from the era where she was good for a guilty pleasure x
  22. Oh I don't hold Jafet to the same standard
  23. I have questions for Pavita and Frank xx
  24. Never
  25. Will catch up properly later but just quickly scrolling through the results so far on my phone - if 'Korku' can actually win that would more than make up for the rest of this year's winners being quite underwhelming for me xx (and it's been sooooo long since Rich last won!!) Fab to see Joon Gloom and Deki Alem doing so well too although that does lead me to fear it's just an abnormally alt-leaning crop of early voters.
