Yes I included that part to expand the scope if anyone wanted to send a one hit wonder from a different country instead x (but if so they must not have any UK hits, so you can't send e.g. Oasis because they are a one hit wonder in the USA etc.) I assume most people will just stick to the UK but I wanted the option to be there!

Oh yeah counting lower charting songs 'Bara Bada Bastu' is a new addition this week too ofc. There's also a Portuguese song charting atm (ATLXS - PASSO BEM SOLTO, peaking at #67).

Abor & Tynna's 'Baller' can be added now Looks like Rich was right that it's the first fully German top 40 hit since 'Schnappi', although 'Dancing Lasha Tumbai' was a little more recent with a mostly German language hook. (All legends) Bad Bunny - DtMF also added from this year ofc. Do not immediately recall any others. How many of the solo BTS hits have been in Korean? I guess 'Espresso Macchiato' might be considered to be partly in Italian too. But debatable if that really counts lol

In terms of number of streams it is closer to missing the top 200 than debuting at #1 tbf x ('Ordinary' is ahead by 253k, #200 is 'only' 233k behind). Funnily enough the song at #200 is actually also by Alex! Could do without Jelly Roll getting a hit here but eh

Ever! has made it into the double digits and I have the honour of hosting this tenth edition with a bit of help from my blobular friend which is a motif I definitely won't get bored of very quickly. Our theme this time around is One Hit Wonders - although before you race to confirm 'Mr. Blobby' I regret to inform that won't be eligible (and neither will the underrated lost classic of a follow-up 'Christmas In Blobbyland' for that matter) because we're celebrating other songs which didn't reach the heights these artists did once (and once only). Now unlike the very straightforward and undebiable appeal of our favourite Blobbyland export, the exact definition of who counts as a one hit wonder if a little open to interpretation, so I've decided on a set of guidelines which I hope are fair and not too convoluted for what will be allowed into this contest: First and foremost, as we are in the 20th Century Retro forum, the artist's hit in question must have charted in the 20th century. (I will allow songs that were released this side of the millennium into this contest but the actual artist must be a 20th century one hit wonder). Your artist must either: have only one UK top 40 hit (you can't send the song they had the hit with) have only one UK top 20 hit (they can have other songs that charted at #21-40, but your entry must not be a top 40 hit) meet one of the above criteria for a different country (they must not have any UK top 40 hits and you can't send the song they had the hit with; I've included an optional section in the confirmation form to specify which country your artist is a one hit wonder in if it's not the UK) That aside, there's not any other well defined restrictions (other than avoiding sending a song that was sent to a previous edition of this contest, and you may want to avoid any previous entries to other song contests from the site too, most likely to see clashes from BJSC or Club Bizarre), but I will ask that we try and stick to the spirit of the theme rather than hunting for loopholes, so for example no trying to send A Flock Of Seagulls' 'I Ran' because it technically passes the above check. The song doesn't need to be a single, album tracks and B-sides are fine. Would also caution against sending artists who are one hit wonders as solo artists but much better known as members of groups unless their solo work is a significant departure from the group's. The entry list will be subject to mod review as ever and anything deemed to not fit may be liable to the dreaded veto. Click on the button below to confirm your entry via Google Form. I did notice somewhat of a proliferation of Japanese entries this month and they all ended up in the same semi! My song of course being one of those, shoutout to Mic the Snare (excellent YouTube channel) for very briefly mentioning Kikagaku Moyo in a recent video and intriguing me into checking them out. Unfortunately the band doesn't exist any more but they had a decent sized discography to comb through for something worth sending x I think my song is quite elevated by the visuals so I hope people will be watching the YouTube video / paying attention on SyncTube. (Although given the aviation theme of this contest I hope the video - which features a rocket taking off and then crashing about a minute and a half into the song - won't be a bad omen haha). Think there are only 3 songs I've already heard from this contest, Avalon Emerson from the Electronic Track of the Week poll + SASAMI and YEJI from PJSC (they came 2nd and 1st respectively there, while the Openside song is also a former PJSC winner although from years ago and in a contest I didn't enter). I'll give my early hype to SASAMI out of those 3 although tut tut at Mothertopia self recycling just 2 months after their first entry by her (there are actually quite a few artists in this contest who were already entered once this year, the recycle cycle is accelerating I fear). No common songs in BJSC & PJSC this month although surprisingly PJSC does have a different Ummet Ozcan song.

This is how I find out Clara Kimera is from Agar Agar x The Persephonia recycle fad seems to be dying down again now, only one of my past song contest artists showing up this month (Luna Shadows making her BJSC debut - minus one The Naked And Famous song she was part of the group for - but I previously sent her to the Pop Forum Song Contest).

Hooray for this contest finally taking off (and I suppose this thread is slightly higher quality AI slop than those posts in the odds thread last month x) Shoutouts to Neliöär, easyJet 2, Jetty Nelson (omg Jafet hype! x), farcoleptic airways and Hindenburg Air as my fave airline names.

'Baller' climbing would love if this is a sign of it being the latest Eurovision song to transcend the contest and become a genuine hit but I doubt it, fingers crossed it now has a decent chance to make the top 40 at least though. I suppose it's healthy news for the music industry to see Skye Newman getting an immediate follow-up hit so we have a new British name who might actually be a consistent hitmaker rather than just another TikTok one hit wonder. Can't say I particularly like 'Hairdresser' though so I'm not rushing to hear this new song.
