  1. Yay Cumulonimbia  nearly all of the truly essential semi 2 songs (except mine, boo hiss) are through now at least x

And there was no way it was going to not qualify but  to Hendinia confirming finally taking down FSR Rontvia's Q streak record after it seemed untouchable for so many years :cheeseblock: (good song also x)

  2. Well... that's only the second time ever that Jadaphonia have both DNQed whoops x That is really disappointing considering how well Wardruna and Heilung did in the contest before but maybe just not enough of the fanbase of that style were in semi 1 </3 ranked 2nd in the semi for me anyway. (same as Margaritas Podridas last month, smh x)
  3. Oh nooo @ Pestolia - that just missed out on my top 10 of semi 1 but am pretty sure it'd have made my final votes and was kinda looking forward to it. The world was not ready for such hi def visuals I fear

Scotland 2 was great obvz (6th in semi 1 for me) but if 'Hacker' couldn't qualify there was no way in hell this would realistically so no surprise x

  4. Between this and Paper Lady the Persephonian BJSC Committee ought to take the lesson that sending extremely obscure YouTube finds maybe isn't a good idea x

(although Re-TROS kinda fit that bill too and they did fine)

Our hearts are warmed by the positive comments in the thread anyhoo :teresa:

A pretty surprising DNQ for Lookylion once again there oops, not having great luck of late... (song was not for me but Betta Lemme has had big hits before)

  5. Oops I kinda thought I wouldn't be in much trouble here with it being imo a pretty weak semi and getting a pretty good reception on the SyncTube. Ah well ~

Great for Abeltesfayeton anyways  (lol me being announced out in the same post as my other potential qualifying :cheeseblock: I know who I am living vicariously through in the final x)

Didn't this happen last month as well where semi 2 had like twice as many qualifiers announced as semi 1 at this stage? x

  6. New Lexico had a deduction right? (there were some rather choice vocals on that song though x)

Yay for Ajanaeda again, not quite hitting me as hard as the previous Siouxsie entry but still good stuff. The FLJ song is pretty good if maybe a little style over substance but maybe it could grow on me more x

  7. I think this is a new best entry to date for me from Conoria again (for the second time in a row x), great to see that through! Cadelicia was fun too x

I admittedly liked the Boney M. song a little less on second listen but aw I thought that would have made it, an unexpectedly leftfield sound for them.

  8. I think Ariana's chance of #1 is probably gone now (its momentum stalled out disappointingly quickly, something something collapse) but ah well, should still have a pretty good chart run. I'm still in the hot take corner of thinking 'yes, and?' is the better song anyway (I do like 'we can't be friends (wait for your love)' but it kind of just gives me 'TRUSTFALL but not as good'), I'll just sit here and wait for people to realise that 'supernatural' should be the big hit from the album x

Will be interesting to see if Beyoncé's album can boost 'TEXAS HOLD 'EM' back to #1, don't think it's necessarily a given (and of course there's always the possibility that a different song from the album will catch on straight away instead).

  9. Very sorry for not getting around to voting in the final of this whoops - I did mean to on Sunday evening but then it totally slipped my mind unfortunately. I'll try and do a belated ranking anyway at some point to see how much I would have affected the results. I'm quite sure that I'd have moved Hot Chip and John Farnham up a few spots each at least, a bit disappointing to see them both in the bottom 10, same for Käärijä being as low as 49th but I guess that did well to make the final at all being so recent and I understand if people didn't want to rank it too high among all the longer established classics!

Very surprised to see 'A Thousand Miles' as low as #44 - I think that's a song I used to not like at all but I've warmed to it a lot in recent years. 'Unwritten' and 'Nothing Else Matters' also deserved better.

Today I learnt Grace was another Paul Oakenfold project (or maybe I did know it before and just forgot x). I too am more familiar with the Klaxons cover but the original is a classic too.

  10. I hath boted x

I think my 1-4 pointers would all usually not make my semi-final votes whoops. But they're all still pretty good so not quite having to dip into voting for mid at least.

random.org bunched up most of the best songs around mine in the running order x

  11. Oop I missed voting in the last couple of these as I've been hibernating from BuzzJack but finally catching up again now. Hope all is ok with Rush

  12. Oh MY at 'Crab Rave' being certified :cheeseblock:

New certifications for 2 Chase And Status/IRAH collabs in the same week *.* also hooray for the certifications for 'Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)' (has this really only just gone silver or is that not counting its original run?) and 'Leon The Professional'.

  13. Didn't go top 40 and only charted on the singles chart by something of a technicality (as its sales were mostly physical sales for an EP that was just too short to qualify for the albums chart) but with charting instrumentals of any description being so rare of late Aphex Twin's 'Blackbox Life Recorder 21f' (#79 last year) seems worth a mention.
  14. Interesting to hear Nightflight To Venus after all this time, I remember back in the day Frederik Kempe was said to have lifted the drum pattern from it for Eric Saade's Popular, and I completely hear that, it's identical.

Very different to Boney M's big hits too.

The original is 'Dance With The Devil' by Cozy Powell apparently (though not 100% clear if it is actually a sample or just a ripoff).
