Oop Give me a min xx
  2. Bror posted a post in a topic in BuzzJack Song Contest
Yes I will do semi 1 tonight!
  3. The last time the thread was so busy was also because people couldn't stop posting AI slop so should be no surprise x

And yeah just checked and this lyric video has so far got a whopping 6,000 views in 6 hours. It's not moving any needles.
  5. Just heard this on Radio 1 this morning and it's definitely the most immediate song of the era so far for me! (Also I have to stan her wheeling Hans Zimmer into the charts again)

YouTube literally doesn't even count to the US charts any more. I'm not really sure what the point is of them releasing it.

Pretty sure both of these things will have absolutely negligible impact

  9. I wouldn't call it a 'flop', it was not until years later that she got any commercial attention at all.
  10. Banned

Can do the first listenthrough for this tomorrow (won't be free today as usual for a Tuesday), not sure when to do the other one

That RIP Magic song is a banger. (as are the Mandy, Indiana and Fcukers songs x)
  13. Oh y'all be nice to Big Hoops. Another bold choice but I am very much here for it xx (HAIM also snapping once more, my favourite song from them <3)
  14. I know I'm just one person but I would quite possibly have given my max points to 'Save Your Tears' whereas I am not really keen on 'I Feel It Coming' oop x
  15. Omg not me being exposed as a Lorde hater xx (Her addition to the song improved it a lot and obviously it's packed with quotable lyrics etc. but there's only so much she could have done with a song that was in its original form one of my least favourites on the album, and it's not exactly a major overhaul in the way a lot of the remixes were...!) '365' coming 2nd though - now that's BRAT
  16. Each week (aiming for Sunday evenings) I'll post one of these polls and ask you all to select your favourites from the week's new entries in the UK Singles Chart top 100. Unlike the similar polls in the genre forums, this poll is multiple choice - I'll leave it to your discretion how you want to give votes, if you want to just vote for your favourite each week then go for it, if not you can vote for as many songs as you feel deserve a vote (I will encourage people to make sure they've actually listened to all of the songs before voting but I can't enforce that obviously x). There's also a 'none of the above' option if you want to put in a protest vote. And then feel free to post in the thread any rankings/ratings or general thoughts. The song with the most votes at the end of the week will be the winner. Pleasantly surprised at our week 11 winner, as Harry Styles becomes the first artist to win the poll twice this year, he previously got both the UK #1 and more importantly the win in this poll with 'Aperture' and pulls off the double double with 'American Girls', pushed as the second single alongside the release of his fourth album 'Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.'. It prevailed by 3 votes over Bebe Rexha and Faithless who I had expected to win. Hooray! Also of note, no 'none of the above' votes at all last week - but maybe that's also a function of me posting the poll late in the week and it not being seen by people who might have voted for that, as the overall number of votes dipped below 40 for the first time this year and by quite a way oop. Full week 11 results: 1 20/34 Harry Styles - American Girls (#1) 2 17/34 Bebe Rexha and Faithless - New Religion (#43) 3 12/34 Harry Styles - Ready, Steady, Go! (#5) 4 11/34 ANOTR - Talk To You (feat. 54 Ultra) (#53) 5 9/34 Julia Wolf - In My Room (#97) 6 4/34 Bruno Mars - God Was Showing Off (#67) [0/34 none of the above] This week's contenders: SIENNA SPIRO - The Visitor (#11) Noah Kahan - Porch Light (#19) beabadoobee - All I Did Was Dream Of You (feat. The Marías) (#60) James Blake - Doesn't Just Happen (feat. Dave) (#66) Tre Reynolds - Don't Go (Don't Leave) (#97) Another quite anaemic list of just 5 new arrivals this week although also quite a high quality one for me - although I haven't yet heard that last song (which I just discovered while looking it up is, in fact, a sample of the Wretch 32 song). Not sure that there is an obvious winner this week although I know who I want to win! Hall of Fame: Week 1: Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [29/49] Week 2: Fleetwood Mac - Landslide [27/48] Week 3: Bruno Mars - I Just Might [26/44] Week 4: Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over [23/43] Week 5: Harry Styles - Aperture [30/46] Week 6: Noah Kahan - The Great Divide [21/44] Week 7: sombr - Homewrecker [31/43] Week 8: Charli xcx - Dying For You [23/43] Week 9: twenty one pilots - Drag Path [20/40] Week 10: Gorillaz - Orange County (feat. Bizarrap, Kara Jackson and Anoushka Shankar) [16/40] Week 11: Harry Styles - American Girls [20/34]
  17. Oop this having quite a lot fewer votes than the other polls so far - maybe just because I posted it quite late in the week. New poll up shortly so will see if it goes back up x My ranking for this week anyway: 1 Talk To You 2 In My Room 3 American Girls 4 Ready, Steady, Go! 5 God Was Showing Off 6 New Religion 3 very different songs getting my votes, I did enjoy ANOTR's first hit a good bit iirc but think I am immediately liking this one more, it do be groovy ~ good to get a bit of angsty rock in the chart and intrigued to see if 'In My Room' will grow into much bigger of a hit, and 'American Girls' has become quite an earworm, definitely one of the better songs on Harry's album for me. As is the other song that charted from him but don't think that one is quite worthy of a vote, the vocals are a little too repetitive and whatever but I do like the instrumental. Big dropoff in quality to the other two, the Bruno song is unbearably corny and easily the worst from his album and 'New Religion' is just a total waste of a song, just listen to 'Insomnia'. But at least the instrumental - in that it's literally just 'Insomnia' - isn't also bad in the way 'I'm Good (Blue)' was I suppose. x

It is actually your 151st btw oop! (though a fun fact to make up for it: you managed to win with both your 100th entry (LOVA) and your 150th which is quite iconic)
  19. Great job with all the writeups Calum! (Clocking the shade for twigs aside x) I think if there had only been the one Golden Wagner (#deadnaming) spot as planned it would have most likely just gone to Lily pretty comfortably and anticlimactically - although not undeservedly, she was one of my five picks, I think a lot of her discography has aged quite poorly but 'The Fear' always was and still is her best song - so another +1 to it being a good idea to expand it as ROSALÍA needed to make it as well especially as it's given us a genuine curveball result in Conan making it through! Of course a lot of his earlier song choices got quite glowing reception but still, intrigued to see if he can make much deeper of a run now after being given this lifeline! (Inb4 it turns out he actually came 1st). In all honesty his song choice for that last round was one that went in one ear and out the other for me but here's hoping I will still have more chances to give positive reviews to his songs x Full disclosure I did already know @Jade sent Blondie as we discussed our choices for this edition before it was announced that it was going to be anonymous, whoopsie. Will be more secretive next year I promise. A shame that she fell short at the same stage as last year as Blondie definitely had more to give, also a little surprised at George Michael not making it with such a classic, I wonder if it's possible this might have been another 4th place finish for him... I thought Nadia Oh would have been @!!! but I suppose @seven. sending her makes as much sense - her song didn't quite make my top 5 for the last round but it would have been in contention to be ranked 6th, my favourite discovery of the round, largely very impressed with her proto hyperpop bangers in general x I did very much enjoy the last gasp attempt from Guitarricadelafuente as well and the Markus Riva song was better than his earlier ones too (lol at him being a troll choice though - unless @uhsting is just covering for being the ultimate Khia x). The last Erasure song was not a favourite for me but lovely to read the thought process behind sending it (and all the other Erasure picks) from @dandy* - likewise with @King Rollo, I am in awe of people having this game planned out so meticulously. x Also a RIP in peace to !!!, @pavi and @CowTzy for picking consistently good songs throughout this (actually wasn't that mad on the last one from LiSA unforch but good stuff before x) and to @Herbs and @Calum who did well to find a couple of songs I liked more than I expected from artists it would have been very easy for me to write off. Hmm what to send next ~ (unless I actually didn't submit an artist at all and am truly the frontrunner for the Oscar)
  20. I've never heard 'Yes' before to my knowledge and frankly I don't have any desire to hear it again, I didn't really like it at all sorry (only saved from being last for me because I also don't like the Kelly Clarkson song at all and that one I have unfortunately had to listen to probably hundreds of times before). That being the song with the most 50 point scores is quite baffling to me! Would definitely have liked to see 'Sultans Of Swing' finish a bit higher but I don't think that's too bad of a result for this kind of song on here. I did not know Gerry Rafferty was in Stealers Wheel!

I sent it to PJSC specifically because I originally wasn't going to send it here but then I changed my mind as I had nothing else I wanted to send here hehe It was quite a bit later than that tbf x
  22. That's the last of my 7s gone - I gave scores of 8+ to 11 songs and 9 of them have made the top 10 here, feels quite surprising to be agreeing so much with BuzzJack ratings of pop girl songs (with the one major and expected exception).
  23. I can think of two other Welsh language entries off the top of my head: ANi GLASS - Y Ddawns {Quintessa LXXXVI; 26} ( btw x) DJ SG - Sosban Fach {Pestolia CLXIII; SF-28} I thought maybe Gwenno - Eus Keus? as well but just checked and that was actually Cornish which might be unique. Am sure I may well be forgetting others but yes not a common language to pop up, intrigue!

Oh both of the semi openers this month have ties to Ethel Cain then - what are the odds x
