Lol some of the easiest decisions that I made ended up losing comfortably... (I 'only' voted for 5 of the losers but that includes no-brainer votes for Kesha and George Michael, I suppose I should have seen the former coming - I'm not a fan of Kelly but I know she and especially this song is very popular here - but George not even coming close to Atomic Kitten is outrageous). Disappointing to see Blondie not being close as well, thought that was a competitive matchup there. And Fred again.. but that one was never going to go any other way x The closest loser that I backed was Nik Kershaw but honestly I wasn't that keen on either his song or Troye's. We're not getting the best song picks from Troye in general so far. I am also not much of an ABBA fan whereas I generally really like The Weeknd but that was pitting ABBA's one undeniable fantastic song against a song I always thought was only ok from The Weeknd and that got really old from overplay. So that is unfortunately a deserved outcome there. Scissor Sisters and HAIM were easy picks for me so glad they prevailed even if closer than I'd have liked, Bowie vs. Erasure was closer but I did vote for Bowie as well. Chappell vs. ROSALÍA was just cruel, Chappell is going to run out of viable songs in this pretty soon you'd think and she's now burnt through both of the songs I really love from her + I obviously really want ROSALÍA to stay in this (cmon wildcard xx) but... 'The Subway' was the better song here oop ~ There only being one wildcard slot is brutal when there are multiple artists that have lost out in this round due to bad luck with the random draw more than anything else, can't we have more than one and then just have some more double eliminations in the live show rounds xx

I always actually quite liked 'Greatest Day', I can understand the criticism (it's certainly not very original) but they could never make me hate it x On the other hand I never liked 'Mercy' at all, always found it very annoying. I wasn't much of a fan of Duffy in general although 'Warwick Avenue' was decent. Shouldn't go without mentioning that her music career faltering was most likely related to traumatic life events. Out of the 6 remaining songs I really like 3 of them, quite like one, am neutral on one and really hate one. x

Agreed that 'Torn On The Platform' is one of the best songs on here if not the best and can't say I was aware of it having a bad reputation on here...!

Yeah looking like it will be another week for Sam unfortunately but at least the gap still seems to be getting smaller (Bella was ~3.3k behind in last week's Monday update). Maybe next week... As Jade said the last James Blake album had a staggered digital/physical release - not that surprising that it would fail to make the top 100 on streams & downloads alone (especially as it was a considerably less poppy/mainstream-adjacent album than his last couple) but I did find it curious that it went on to still not even make the top 100 when the physicals did come out. The new album must have already sold more physicals than that one did in total! It did appear at #10 on the albums sales chart so it's not like the sales weren't counting. In any case... given the weird underperformance of that album even accounting for circumstances and the fact the new album has been released independently I was not expecting it to make that big of a splash in the midweeks so to see it being nearly #1 today and looking safe to be his first top 3 album unless something unexpected happens has really thrown me (in a good way)! His 2021 album that gave him his previous peak of #4 only did 5.7k so this one has blown past that already as well. (Before that he did 6.2k to get #6 in 2019, 5.4k for #13 in 2016, 9.6k for #8 in 2013 and 15.9k for #9 in 2011 - so this album only needs to sell another 100 copies this week to be his second biggest opening sales ever). He did also have a collaboration album with Lil Yachty in 2024 that also didn't chart at all but that's a bit more understandable x With that and a fleeting midweek top 100 appearance for 'Firestarter' what a day this is for my faves *.* nice to see James also currently at #72 in the singles chart with his Dave collab, if it stays in the top 100 that'll be his first top 100 hit as lead artist since 'Retrograde' in 2013 and only his third ever, not going to hold my breath though.

'Relax My Eyes' took ages to make the top 40 after debuting, so this looking like it could be contending to get there in its 2nd week is hopefully promising signs that it could become a big hit!

There were only two further songs that I rated a 6 and one of those was Kelly while I gave Lumidee a 7 so this is continuing to track with my own ratings pretty well! It's funny how I still manage to remember all of the big hits that used the Diwali Riddim as distinct songs with their own merits (in fact I don't think I even realised until years later that they were all literally using the same instrumental) in contrast to, say, the new Bebe Rexha song which just feels completely pointless when 'Insomnia' already exists. Agreed Lumidee's wasn't the best song to use it but still a solid bop.

I did check earlier when she was born and Wikipedia only listed '2006' as her birth date so was thinking she may or may not be the first artist born after BuzzJack's founding to get a #1 single (if she gets there, that is of course) - but just checked again and I see a date has now been edited in! Artists younger than me are hitting #1 pretty routinely now, probably not long before that'll be the majority (so far this year RAYE, Dave and Olivia Dean are younger than me, while Djo, Tems, Harry Styles and Sam Fender are all less than 5 years older than me, Taylor Swift being comparatively a fossil xx)

Have confirmed but will not be shocked if someone has followed the same thought process as me and found the same artist x

My belated ranking from week 8 as I didn't post it in that thread: 1 Tití Me Preguntó 2 Always Everywhere 3 Lights Burn Dimmer 4 other side. 5 wrong faces. 6 Dying For You 7 SLAUGHTER 8 ICEMAN FREESTYLE 9 Share The House 10 Be By You Have loved that Bad Bunny song for years so was a moment to see it finally charting, up there with his very best for me, absolute banger. 'Always Everywhere' was a little bit of a slow burner for me but now comfortably my favourite song that I've heard from this soundtrack so far (I've still not got around to hearing it in full just yet but have heard most of it now), can see why it was overshadowed by the more commercial and also good 'Dying For You' but glad it at least got its moment in the top 40 anyway. Great song from Fred and lovely to hear Jamie T on a charting song again, still sounding very much like his own style but blending well with Fred's production. Brent Faiyaz' vocals always sound great to me and two quite different sounding but both high quality songs here, I'd love for 'other side.' to get more of a push as I could really see it being a big hit but probably not happening, the other one is a bit more of his usual niche-ish alt R&B sound. Both of the Cench songs are solid bangers if not career highlights, really like the production on 'ICEMAN FREESTYLE' and while I thought the J Hus feature on 'SLAUGHTER' was a little disappointing it was made up for by me actually enjoying Cench's own parts a bit more. 'Share The House' is pretty dime-a-dozen house but not bad. 'Be By You' is back to the usual Luke Combs slop that I'm not a fan of after not minding his previous hit, it's not totally unlistenable is the nicest thing I can say x And from this week's polls: Week 9: 1 White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter 2 Drag Path 3 Badlands 4 The Banjo Song Stanning the eerie theatricality of this Lana track, such a unique sound and love that she still has the name power to get a song this weird to actually chart. Can take or leave all of the others, 'Drag Path' does get quite good in the last minute or so but it's a slog before that, 'Badlands' was better than I expected a Mumford/Gracie collab to be but still just alright, just sounds like it's trying to be a Bon Iver song but much less interesting. 'The Banjo Song' has grown on me a little bit since I first heard it but it's an appropriately generic title for a song that is just there to fill space in their discography. Week 10: 1 Orange County 2 Nightingale Lane. 3 The Hardest Part 4 My Loving 5 The Moon Cave 6 GO 7 Steady 8 Risk It All 9 Cha Cha Cha 10 FEVER DREAM 11 Walk Also no contest for my favourite from this week, beautiful track from Gorillaz, a really nice blending of musical styles from across the world, fairly simplistic lyrics but they work well and the whistling is an earworm. I also still need to hear the rest of the album but the songs I have heard from it have been quite hit or miss, some of them feel like they have too many ideas that don't really work that well together and that is still what I'm feeling with 'The Moon Cave' at the moment, feels like about 3 different songs which are all just alright stitched together. I don't feel quite as blown away as I feel like I ought to by the RAYE track but it is a well written classy tune, and 'The Hardest Part' is Olivia doing her thing nicely enough too, I didn't really like 'Dive' so good to know she did have at least one pretty good song from her debut. 'My Loving' I think is going to grow into a bit of an incessant earworm, it's enjoyable enough but feels just a bit too generic to give it a vote. 'GO' has the potential to be a solid banger but the production is a little headache inducing at parts - it is a bit like 'How It's Done' really lol (although it is a bit better than that). Bella's vocals sound nice as ever on 'Steady' but the song doesn't really go anywhere unlike her other two hits, the instrumental is a bit comatose especially. I've heard all of the Bruno songs from catching up with the Hot 100 and there are some good tracks on there but aside from 'I Just Might' we've really had all the least engaging ones charting here - it is kind of interesting to hear the Latin influence on 'Risk It All' but at the end of the day it's still just kind of a retread of 'Grenade' which is one of his most turgid songs, and 'Cha Cha Cha' just doesn't really have much to it at all (although I'll still take it over the song that's charted in the following week #spoilers). Also feel nothing at all from the Alex song, genuinely still prefer 'Ordinary'. And the Skye song is extremely bland as well and with some pretty subpar lyricism to boot (although at least she's not screeching on it). Aside: could have had newies called both 'The Hardest Part' and 'The Hardest Thing' in this chart considering 'Orange County' is effectively just a continuation of the song with the latter title from Gorillaz' album but split into its own song for some reason.

Picked a bad time to start reading this again as 'I Kissed A Girl' being ahead of 'Viva La Vida' is absolute heresy xxx (Will try and catch up with the rest since I last posted at some point hehe)

1 Fcukers 2 LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER 3 ANOTR 4 East End Dubs 5 Puretone 6 James Hype 7 Bebe Rexha 8 Jennifer Lopez My belated ranking x Massive gap between that top 3 and the rest, think that could possibly be my favourite to date from Fcukers, the LMNC song is a banger too (some slightly silly lyrics but I think they come across as fun rather than cringe) and a groovy tune from ANOTR there, unexpected to see them suddenly having another mainstream hit but it's a good song to do it with. The next 3 songs are all ok. The Bebe one doesn't sound bad because it's literally just 'Insomnia' with Bebe singing over it but I don't know why I would ever want to listen to Bebe singing over 'Insomnia'. JLo has even less to offer with the lack of a classic instrumental.

A lot of dance hits do much better on Apple than Spotify.

Honestly surprised I am as high as 7th in the average rankings as I really do try not to be too hyperbolic with my ratings. But maybe other people just rated the remixes too lowly xx 'B2b' is way too low

Checking in with this forum again after another lil absence x StoneBridge to win here ~ 'Goodbye Mr A' would be my favourite of the whole 10 though.

I'm liking 'American Girls' more than 'Aperture' so that's a fine #1, definitely better than the last couple. Hopefully next week can be the one for Bella Kay though! Nice to see 'Dracula' finally making the top 20 (irrespective of the boost coming from increased popularity of the inferior JENNIE remix) and 'White Keys' climbing in too. Also Sean Paul going top 30 after all *.* and yay for 'The Sick' joining 'iloveitiloveitiloveit' in the top 40, I still like it more out of the two although both are good (not that keen on her third hit though). 'Choosin' Texas' continuing its legendary run at #35 as well Thanks Joseph for still putting all the info posts up despite the site crapping out for the day x
