  1. Lyrical Lemonade is really diversifying these days (I pointed it out to Joseph privately the other day but there's now a music video for 'I Run' as well - only got 25k views as of 9 days after its release, oop x)
  2. Ok let me get back to voting in a more timely manner x Clannad - Theme From Harry's Game Duran Duran - Rio A Flock Of Seagulls - Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You) Incantation - Cacharpaya (Andes Pumpsá Dèsi) Talk Talk - Talk Talk Incantation comfortably the best discovery of the week, how intriguing that was a top 40 hit! Knew the Clannad song well but good to be able to put a name to it rather than it just being 'that one new age song that I heard loads as a kid and would recognise if I heard it again'. And the Talk Talk song was a BuzzJack discovery but a few years ago via TheSnake sending it to BJSC. Next best discoveries were Simple Minds and Japan, next best I already knew were Madness, Marvin Gaye and Bing Crosby/David Bowie. A better week on the whole than last week, playlisted 20 songs this time. Will throw a bone to ABBA for the tiebreak, if only because I prefer the cover of 'Mad World' to the original.
  3. Bullies
  4. I'm going to be adding several more of you to the ban list x
  5. I do feel like Jeff Buckley is catching some strays by association here x

Is there another song with this name or are you really suggesting they're randomly now playlisting the venbee song that was a hit over 3 years ago x
  7. A bit over 4 hours for any further votes My votes this week: 1 HELICOPTER 2 STOLE YA FLOW 3 Lover, You Should've Come Over 4 Jogodo 5 STAY HERE 4 LIFE 6 NO BATIDÃO 7 Papaoutai (Afro Soul) Find it very difficult to compare the Jeff Buckley song to my other votes - I have only just heard it in the last couple of weeks so although I can recognise it as a well deserved classic and it is a beautiful song I don't have the long standing connection to it to feel obligated to rank it at #1 by default, so although it feels low key disrespectful I have to be honest and say that for the moment I'm much more likely to want to revisit these shallow Rocky bangers than that 'Jogodo' is not reinventing the wheel but another very solid song from Asake (oh and I guess Wizkid is on it too). 'STAY HERE 4 LIFE' was not so much of a highlight from Rocky for me, the first part of the song feels a bit meandering (though Brent Faiyaz' vocals sound good as ever), enjoy it slightly more after the beat switch but it's a bit too little too late. The ZXKAI thing is quite fun I guess but it also just feels like an unfinished fragment - I did also listen to the slowed version out of curiosity and I think it works slightly better than the original (I notice it's the slowed version that's uploaded on slxughter's YouTube channel without tagging that it is slowed). The less said about the 'Papaoutai' cover the better really, as documented elsewhere pretty much every aspect of it is repulsive but even ignoring the ~discourse~... how are you going to have AI vocals and still have them sound this horrendous, he really needed to rerun that prompt.
  8. Nominations for the other bonuses: Dave - History (feat. James Blake) Lily Allen - Ruminating Tyler, The Creator - Stop Playing With Me (the Lily album might yet go to #1 this week anyway but still!)
  9. @jimwatts how about both of them x ABBA - The Day Before You Came Adam Ant - Friend Or Foe Blue Zoo - Cry Boy Cry The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go Tears For Fears - Mad World Not a very strong week but still 2 pretty good discoveries there from Adam Ant and Blue Zoo. Next best discoveries were The Clash's 'Straight To Hell' and Japan, next best I already knew were Daryl Hall & John Oates and Spandau Ballet. Duran Duran for the tiebreak.
  10. There are more of these than I'd have guessed! I wonder if there are any pre-digital era classics that are close to achieving this ('Rumours'?)
  11. What is this song?
  12. I still have the 15 minute song I nearly sent to the retro contest (My current main potential for the next contest is another sub 4 minute one though)
  13. You're 3 words away from it, thin ice xx
  14. Not sure about Ellie but I think the Jeff one was a manual reset.
  15. *Tuesday (although just realising that means I'll also miss the start of it oops so expect a late final scoreboard confirmation x)
  16. Not Alan Walker again.
  17. I noticed that as well - although the Ari song of the same name came out last year.
  18. Cue a tour announcement prompting a surge, reset and top 40 re-entry for 'Stick Season'
  19. Wasn't sure if Noah may have left it a bit too late to properly capitalise with the follow-up to the last era but looks like the hype was still there! Fredo/Burna Boy/Steel Banglez 'Birthday' in at #118, all the other new entries are from Don Toliver's album: 44 E85 51 Body 61 ATM 79 Call Back 80 Rendezvous (feat. Yeat) 91 Secondhand (feat. Rema) 110 Tiramisu 111 Rosary (feat. Travis Scott) 186 Long Way To Calabasas 'ATM' was released as a single last week and 'Tiramisu' in September last year but both hadn't charted until today.
  20. Can we cancel the industry push for Royel Otis and give more of that to Geese instead pls x
  21. Well my hope at the start of the week for 'Jogodo' to go top 40 was just a bit off but yay for a one place climb (and glad it's still ahead of 'Turbulence' which is nowhere near as good imo). Nice big climb there for Ella Langley! And good to see that the 'Papaoutai' cover is already falling, hopefully it peaked early... Robbie's album 'only' down 1-36, better than expected (and still ahead of Madison Beer).
  22. The Kworb Apple Music chart hasn't shown any new entries for me any of the times I've checked it today, not sure if it's just stuck? (It is still showing songs as having moved from 24 hours ago though). Fingers crossed for 'Choosin' Texas' to go top 40 this week!

I forgot to do this last week oops but my ranking would probably have been identical to the previous week anyway, not so exciting when there are no changes to the songs in the top 10 x Good to see 'Raindance' finally jumping out of the bottom 2 here lol ~
  24. Sorry I fell behind with keeping up with this thread, I'll endeavour to dig back through the list properly over the weekend but for now glad to see my tactical +30 has paid off... although I might have given it to 'The Pretender' instead if I'd had any inkling that wouldn't have made it anyway oops! Gutting to see that be the last song cut out </3 (I suppose with it being so close to the cutoff it wouldn't have actually needed my 30 to qualify, would just have needed to rank it 1 or 2 places higher, ah well x)
