  1. Bebe Rexha is Calum Scott in this analogy (minus the doing better than the original, thankfully). Would be here for an 'Insomnia' revival any time though x
  2. It is really necessary to post this every week x
  3. 'honeybee' is a lovely song but I'm just waiting for 'maggots for brains' to become its rightful smash x
  4. The only song so far that was actually released in 2026 being the only song to be skipped Calum Scott ruined this song so hard that I find myself not even enjoying the original as much as I used to oop. But still way better than the cover anyway obvz so nice to see it return to being the preeminent version I guess.
  5. If the quality of 'new hits' is as low as that thing at #40 (which isn't even that new anyway lol) I'm quite happy to stick with NatBed, JLo and The Killers x

This scourge brought to us by the same person who inflicted 'That's So True' on us x

My post the other day in another thread was not supposed to be a challenge!!

A great top 2 and sad the latter was blocked because it's easily the better of the two. (Eminem should really have been further ahead, he didn't have any video streaming sales because the song was only on YouTube as an auto-generated video at the time which don't count towards the chart for some reason)

    But why not before xx

'Rasa' being a backup entry still makes no sense to me x

I think I've only ever had an entry denied twice, one time where I went momentarily mad and tried to reconfirm mid-contest to TĀLĀ's 'Alchemy' which had already been confirmed by Bøtanikkä (and thank God because if I hadn't been blocked I'd never forgive myself for selling out with a self-recycle even though it did do considerably better than my actual entry that contest, which... I think was just me going back to my original pick but not sure, it was a long time ago), and the other time when Run The Jewels got inexplicably (at the time) vetoed and I decided to just commit to tanking myself and took it as a sign to finally send Yung Lean's 'Kyoto' after sitting on it for months, which unsurprisingly DNQed as BuzzJack was still not ready for it. x Obviously since I became a mod I can see all the entries coming in so I'd almost certainly never actually be in a (losing) entry clash now, and I very rarely send anything that is even remotely a veto threat. Could still see that someone already took a song I wanted to send myself and have to change plans but I'm pretty sure that has never happened (there have been a couple of times where I've had to take songs off my potential list because other people sent them but they weren't ones I was actively planning to send to the contest where they were taken).

Yes, she "somehow" defied the completely baseless superstition that you continue to parrot constantly despite having entirely made it up x

Only matches 2 of the 3 criteria I named so you're safe!

I slept through the start of confirmations and missed the drama, why do you not cater your timings to dysfunctional near-nocturnal Brits x (luckily there is not exactly much competition for obscure 90s Japanese ambient producers so I have plenty of time to try and figure out how to upload the song myself somewhere - I could do with some Doctor Blind esque custom visuals for this one tbh but I doubt I have the skills to be able to make such a thing)
  16. Just about to start a relisten of this so my votes are going to be slightly late as well sorry, I don't have a particularly legit excuse, I was just napping again xx (will defo be in tonight tho)

Would personally love if either of the #1 contenders could be a song that's better than a 6/10 but hey ho.

Manifesting this opening the doors for the public to discover this Slovak masterpiece xx
  20. If anything it's probably more likely to happen again now. At the moment 'Man I Need' is still the year to date #1 (not sure if it's still looking to hold onto that or if 'Rein Me In' will eventually overtake) and that hasn't reached #1 this year, albeit only because of ACR.
  21. Pester me again in the evening because I will probably forget otherwise xx but yes I can send you those stats

Not quite falling from the same heights (at least not as recently) but I'm definitely savouring making the final a bit more when it happens of late, have DNQed with 5 of my last 10 entries oop x
  23. Alphaville - Big In Japan Depeche Mode - Master And Servant George Michael - Careless Whisper Prince - When Doves Cry Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters A great discovery from Depeche Mode this week. Next best ones I already knew are Howard Jones, Thompson Twins and Laura Branigan and next best discoveries were A Flock Of Seagulls and Malcolm McLaren.
  24. Each week (aiming for Sunday evenings) I'll post one two of these polls and ask you all to select your favourites from the week's new entries in the UK Singles Chart top 100 (and the week 10 weeks prior, until I'm caught up again). Unlike the similar polls in the genre forums, this poll is multiple choice - I'll leave it to your discretion how you want to give votes, if you want to just vote for your favourite each week then go for it, if not you can vote for as many songs as you feel deserve a vote (I will encourage people to make sure they've actually listened to all of the songs before voting but I can't enforce that obviously x). There's also a 'none of the above' option if you want to put in a protest vote. And then feel free to post in the thread any rankings/ratings or general thoughts. The song with the most votes at the end of the week will be the winner. Resuming where we left off with the catchup polls, cross-generational American pop girl collab 'Bring Your Love' by Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter - the second song to be released from Madge's 15th studio album 'CONFESSIONS II' - topped the week 19 poll with a comfortable lead of 7 votes over the only song from the poll that's gone on to actually be a sustained hit for more than a handful of weeks from SIENNA SPIRO. Maybe SIENNA wouldn't have even been this close if I'd done the poll on time. When we jump to the more up to date poll there's absolutely no closeness to be found as it's to no one's shock an utter walkover for another American pop girl, Olivia Rodrigo with 'honeybee', currently still an album track from her 3rd album 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love' just charting now as it got its turn under the 3 track rule. Lead single 'drop dead' won its poll but it remains to be seen whether the other two singles will manage the same as they're both yet to come in the catchup polls. Only 11 people didn't vote for 'honeybee', and of those 8 plumped for 'none of the above' (assuming no one voted for both of those options which is never something I actually check). Of the other two options Kolter did pick up a few votes but Fat Papi has the ignominy of joining the mikeeysmind 'Papaoutai' AI cover as the second song of the year to register 0 votes. I thought it was a pretty mediocre early Post Malone rip but it wasn't that bad, certainly deserved a vote more than the Chris Brown and D-Block Europe songs which both escaped with a single backer in the first poll. Full week 19 results: 1 20/36 Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter - Bring Your Love (#29) 2 13/36 SIENNA SPIRO - Material Lover (#67) 3 11/36 Zara Larsson and Shakira - Eurosummer (#83) 4 6/36 Bella Kay - Promise? (#87) 4 6/36 Dexter And The Moonrocks - Freakin' Out (#95) 6 5/36 Alex Warren - FINE PLACE TO DIE (#20) 7 3/36 STELLA LEFTY - I Know I Know (#93) 8 1/36 Chris Brown - Fallin' (feat. Leon Thomas) (#85) 8 1/36 D-Block Europe - Yeah Baby (#91) [1/36 none of the above] Full week 29 results: 1 25/36 Olivia Rodrigo - honeybee (#30) [8/36 none of the above] 2 4/36 Kolter - Trapped (#88) 3 0/36 Fat Papi and prodshushy - FREAKED OUT (#65) Week 20's contenders: Charli xcx - Rock Music (#36) Calvin Harris and Jazzy - Satisfy (#55) Harry Styles - Dance No More (#58) Prospa and Murda Beatz - Baby (#65) MDB - Angels Above Me (#76) PinkPantheress - Girl Like Me (#81) Josh Fawaz - Like A Prayer (#85) Week 30's contenders: Gracie Abrams - Good Reason (#55) Victony - SLICK (#99) It's good timing for me to be doubling up these polls as for a second week in a row the current week's poll has a paltry selection, down from three songs last week to just two this time. A thrilling race between Gracie and 'none of the above' this week? The catchup poll is a little more substantial although sadly infected with AI. I remember being a little confused as to what was going on with that 'Angels Above Me' thing as the version credited with the OCC didn't appear to be charting anywhere whereas a couple of other versions of the song were - but I'll take the OCC at their word here. ""Unfortunately"" I can't include MDB on the Spotify playlist anyway because their version got removed from the platform (appears the only prominent versions left are the original by Stick Figure and a version crediting David Guetta and Alok which I will guess without verifying is modelled closely on one or other of the AI versions). It's still on YouTube though so I've linked that version below if you are a completionist and need to hear all of the slop. Josh Fawaz' apparently also AI slop entry remains fully available on all platforms. + MDB - Angels Above Me (not available on Spotify) Hall of Fame: Week 1: Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [29/49] Week 2: Fleetwood Mac - Landslide [27/48] Week 3: Bruno Mars - I Just Might [26/44] Week 4: Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over [23/43] Week 5: Harry Styles - Aperture [30/46] Week 6: Noah Kahan - The Great Divide [21/44] Week 7: sombr - Homewrecker [31/43] Week 8: Charli xcx - Dying For You [23/43] Week 9: twenty one pilots - Drag Path [20/40] Week 10: Gorillaz - Orange County (feat. 25. And here it is No change to the top 2 but with Hendinia's AQ being comfortably the better performing of the 2 this month, their lead over Bøtanikkä grows from 34 points to 109. They're in a strong position to be end of year champs for the first time but anything could happen, they might even DNQ at some point... I mean they won't, but they might. Hendinia and Bøtanikkä have actually both been EOY #2 twice before without ever topping the list so quite an intriguing battle to potentially play out for the last four contests of the year. Cor Lupus sneak ahead of Fljótavík to 3rd place (also matching their own previous EOY peak currently). Neliönoir's fight to retain their EOY #1 perhaps picks up a gear as they rise 3 places to #5, as do Sovarasma to #6, both pushing down Kluminican Republic two spots to #7. Being outside the YTD top 10 last month was a short-lived aberration for Aeroche as a medal this time around pushes them back up 3 to #8. The Spodic Empire drop two to #9 and Elëdan rise two places to complete the top 10 which are all neatly over the 1,000 points mark for the year. Trifoski lose their top 10 spot but only just as they fall a place to #11 (though being closely chased by this month's winners Skall), Altyr Muunilinst are punished a bit more by a DNQ and fall 7-15.
