BJSC186 - First Class Suite - Final Results
Not quite! Kathaldazia still hold that record with a 134 contest gap between Eva Simons in BJSC 19 and Snow Strippers in BJSC 154 (Skall's gap was 131 contests). Although Kathaldazia only entered 41/134 of the contests between those two wins - Skall entered 126/131 which does break the record for the most entries between two wins, the only other case of 100+ entries between wins was another pretty recent one, FSR Rontvia's unbroken streak of 114 entries between wins in BJSCs 64 & 179. (I am on 112 entries and counting since my last win ) We love to see the glowup for both Julianna and Mary after DNQing with their previous entries as lead artist - although Julianna kinda sorta nearly won the very same contest she DNQed in as the 2nd placer that month (Korallreven - Sa Sa Samoa (Elite Gymnastics Remix)) gives her a featured credit on the non-remixed version! Meanwhile Dani Sylvia now joins Cam, Camden Cox, Elen Levon, Highasakite, Lady Gaga, The Midnight and St. Lucia in the much longer than I thought it was list of artists who have come 2nd twice, none of which have a win. I guess the pop hoe prognosticators were on the money with that one being the strongest pop contender but it just went over my head entirely (and I actually voted for her previous 2nd placer!) Also FARC now up to 5 2nd place finishes since their last win, almost matching FSR Rontvia's 6 2nd places during their aforementioned win drought / Kluminican Republic's 6 2nd places prior to their first winner (but all in a much shorter timeframe, as FARC's last win was still as 'recent' as BJSC 135). Fun stats aside I voted for 5 of the top 10 this month and another 2 were on my short list of commiserations so that's a good showing, fab to see two of my medallists sneaking in the lower half of the top 10 from Elëdan and Jadakissnia <3 although also surprised Elëdan only got one other 18 besides mine! + fab to see Aeroche finally getting a big hit for the year with one of their best entries of the year to date and another nice top 5 finish for Sovarasma. My dark horse prediction on Trifoski didn't quite pan out but yay for them squeaking top half, still a bit better than the predictions I suppose. 2 more of my big faves also making the top 15, 13th is a great debut for New Helvetica, not surprised if it did grow on people since the semis but wow at their improvement to the final anyway! And yay for another good showing for another great entry from Rockæviia. Thought République d'Áskorza may have been a contender this month but seems they fell into the trap of getting a lot of votes but not enough of the higher points aw! And we really didn't do right by our Latin kweens this month, AKRIILA at least doing a little better than when I sent her but still far too low and whaaat is Six Sex doing down there in the bottom 2?! Rude x Here's my very belated voting highlights if anyone may still care to read them - Elëdan's medal tally now stands at 6 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes - they last got our 18 points with KMRU in BJSC 147, proving that 10+ minute glitchy noise Elëdan is best Elëdan, and previously also got golds with 12 pointers Hachioji P in BJSC 61, Taquwami in BJSC 66 & Mr.Kitty in BJSC 67 and 18 pointer Erika Lundmoen in BJSC 114. - Trifoski's medal tally now stands at 8 golds, 2 silvers and 7 bronzes, including 2 golds and a silver in 2026 to date alone as they continue to look like the frontrunner for our top nation of the year. - Jadakissnia's medal tally now stands at 12 golds, 13 silvers and 11 bronzes - unsurprisingly they're 2nd in our most pointed nations of the year but a way behind Trifoski (72 points to 48; would have been a lot closer if VIOLENT VICKIE qualified to be fair). - New Helvetica get off to a strong start with double figure points (11) from us for their first ever main BJSC entry. (We did also vote for their entry to Worldvision VIII, although only 3 points there). - République d'Áskorza get their first points from us since 2 to VTSS in BJSC 176 and their highest points from us since 12 to CLARA in BJSC 171. - Taahino get their first point from us in a final since 12 to Chrissy Costanza (without the rest of Against The Current) in BJSC 168. In the meantime we probably would have voted for Nxdia in BJSC 173 if they had qualified. Shall hopefully get a YTD update posted shortly x

Shakira & Burna Boy - Dai Dai
'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)' didn't leave the top 100 in its original run until October and it re-entered a few times in 2011 and 2012.

Longest and shortest BJSC entries
All of my >6 minute entries to date have qualified (my longest DNQ was Achillea at 5:58) but only 8/14 of my <3 minute entries have (and 2 of those 8 came last in the final lol)

Friday Chart Predictions
You might be thinking of YouTube not counting to the Billboard Hot 100 any more - it does still count to the UK charts.

Friday Chart Predictions
Might be falling to Wham! to break Frankie Laine's record then!

Friday Chart Predictions
There isn't one, people just speculated that it might be adopted as an England anthem and that idea has permeated on here despite the fact it wasn't. (at least not on any significant level, I don't doubt you could find some people drunkenly singing it at matches if you looked for it)

Longest and shortest BJSC entries
This is now probably happening this month! Coming to claim 13th xx (unless someone else sends something even longer lol). And touch wood for a chance to return to the top 10 longest finalists. Lol at 11 of the top 12 coming from just 3 different countries Yes, there were a few of us who did x

BJSC 187: Green Room
Unless I happen to stumble across something else I am thinking it's time to unleash my longest entry to date (and also only my second ever entry from the 20th century). Skall hosting feels appropriate for this x Annoyingly there's no official upload of this song, not even an auto-generated one as far as I can tell despite the fact it is on Spotify, so I am at the whim of a random third party YouTube channel not deciding to delete their upload from last year. Am in half a mind to drop £7.99 on an iTunes download of the album so I can try uploading it myself ddd Also going Japanese

The UK Top 40 singles of the 1980s: listening sessions + polls: next session 16 August
I still haven't got around to listening to the songs from week 31 oops (I made a playlist for myself but didn't find a moment to slot it in during the week) but have caught up with the songs I missed last week to be able to vote in the current poll, I will fill in what I would have voted for in the previous 2 polls at some point! Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes Grandmaster & Melle Mel - White Lines (Don't Don't Do It) The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now All songs I already knew this time, next best I already knew are The Bluebells, Nik Kershaw, Alison Moyet and Wham! and the best discoveries were Siouxsie And The Banshees, David Sylvian and Elvis Costello & The Attractions' 'Turning The Town Red'.

Whatever happened to the Number One? Does the biggest song even matter anymore?
Ok after some further research I think I do retract that last post as most of their popular streaming songs aren't actually from that album so I guess the chart entry is reflecting their entire discography and not just the studio album of the same name (as if residual streams of their catalogue were going to propel an album into the chart it'd surely be 'Toxicity' instead). That seems to have slipped past Alan Jones though who said in his commentary that it was the studio album charting for the first time! He even gave a sales total for it so not sure if that total is just for their collective streams counting to that box set (plus whatever small amount it actually sold when it was released) or if it includes the sales of the actual album since 1998. (not exactly the most pressing issue with the chart anyway but still...!) Funnily enough the artwork used on the OCC site for that SOAD album is actually the cover of 'Toxicity'... but at least it is an album by the correct artist which is more than can be said for some other artwork mixups lol ~

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 24/07/26
And again, I'd hazard to predict she'd be doing a bit better if she didn't make the conscious decision to basically release shitposts as singles. (I've not listened to the album to know if there's anything that's more obviously a hit on there)

? 'System Of A Down' is their debut album from 1998 and very much is available to stream. (If you're just going off the catalogue number then you are being very nitpicky, it's obvious what the streams counting to that album are)

Have you heard the singles? I'm fairly convinced she is purposefully trying to alienate the new fans she won over with BRAT.

Judging by the lyrics of her recent hits I think she's worrying about a lot of things.

It's from their album, it's just been given a single push with a bunch of extra versions last week.

This BTS song, on the other hand, is very much not an eternal banger x (I at least kind of liked the other charting songs from this album but I find this one pretty annoying oop)

Back before the site redesign we could just put in the thread subtitle what page the scoreboard/spreadsheets were on but that functionality got removed sadly...

If it gets a 25% increase and is high enough up the chart for the OCC to notice, yes.

Friday Chart Predictions
'Whenever, Wherever' had one of the biggest gaps between #1 and #2 ever, it was released the same week as Will Young's Pop Idol coronation single so it never stood a chance. I don't recall what kind of sales it did but I imagine probably enough to have been #1 on plenty of other weeks?
