Oh you thought I was done with these? That's... a perfectly reasonable assumption actually, I am well known for not being able to commit to anything on this website (other than the song contests) for more than a couple of months. But I'm going to try and catch up. In the interests of not being stuck permanently in the past I'm going to try and do a double poll every week for the next 10 weeks with one being a catchup where we left off and the other being the actual current week. I will use the gap that needs to be filled in as motivation to stay consistent x Anyhow, getting back into the swing of things... Each week (aiming for Sunday evenings) I'll post one two of these polls and ask you all to select your favourites from the week's new entries in the UK Singles Chart top 100 (and the week 10 weeks prior, until I'm caught up again). Unlike the similar polls in the genre forums, this poll is multiple choice - I'll leave it to your discretion how you want to give votes, if you want to just vote for your favourite each week then go for it, if not you can vote for as many songs as you feel deserve a vote (I will encourage people to make sure they've actually listened to all of the songs before voting but I can't enforce that obviously x). There's also a 'none of the above' option if you want to put in a protest vote. And then feel free to post in the thread any rankings/ratings or general thoughts. The song with the most votes at the end of the week will be the winner. Throwing back to early May with the last one of these polls I posted, British star of the moment for the last year and a bit Olivia Dean came out on top with the belatedly charting 'Baby Steps' from her breakout 2nd studio album 'The Art Of Loving', which had been streaming well enough to have many prior weeks in the top 100 if not for the three track rule but finally got its moment (and has dipped in and out of the top 100 again a couple of times since). It picked up votes from just under half of participants, 4 votes ahead of Noah Kahan's 'Doors'. That made it back to back Olivias winning! Oh and the AI song got a couple of votes this time. I did think as soon as I saw the tracklist for this one that there was a very good chance I'd be going 3 for 3 with giving 11 to the winners haha - I'm not normally a fan of Britney (in fact she probably has more songs that I actively dislike than ones I love!) but 'Toxic' is a solid gold pop classic and easily the best song across all three editions so glad that is reflected in its average despite Jim's attempt to sabotage Like the first edition though there's also one of my least favourite songs in the top 3 whoops, although at least it's 3rd instead of 2nd this time. I do respect 'Biology' for its unorthodox structure for a major pop group release but, as I also think about 'The Promise' for the same reasons, I just don't think any of the parts of it are particularly interesting, it's easily their most overrated song for me oops (I'm curious who Jason thinks is underrating it xx). The girls are better at sticking to more straightforward songs I fear...! The rest of the top 5 are all good, '1 Thing' one of my highest rated songs (one of three that I gave a 9, I didn't give any 10s) but not sure I'd have expected it to do so well. Frustrating results for my other two 9s though with them finishing in 11th and 12th - I'm not surprised at 'Goodies' being around that mark as I can understand it being divisive but 'Don't Cha' only coming 12th is utterly scandalous, that is a banger and I thought that'd be the consensus! Also gave 8s to Charlotte Church and Nelly Furtado so glad they were both top 10, a bit surprised at how high the former is. Sorry again for not posting much in the thread but have been following along and commenting off site as you know, once again the effort put into all the commentaries is much appreciated, so much lore shame this is the last one of these as they've been a lot of fun x

[/late] wasn't around for the results but I caught up with them later in the day and just jumped ahead to the end to see if I qualified or not as I didn't want to build any false hope lol - correct call there. Disappointed but not surprised as it seemed like a really bad semi draw from the jump, I would have needed to run the table with the people in the semi who would even feasibly ever vote for a song like this and getting nothing from the likes of Aelandor and Danæviia shows I did not manage that. I think I might have had a reasonably good chance of qualifying in the other semi but nevermind (although even in this semi I was only 6 or 7 points away, back on form with the missing out by single digits after PAON being a bit further away last month!) At least it doesn't sting quite as bad getting back-to-back DNQs this time considering it's the second time I've done that in the span of less than a year now after avoiding it for over 12 years before that, I'm thinking to send something that's probably also prone to being immediately doomed by a bad semi draw next month so gambling on doing 3 in a row while I have nothing to lose currently. The lyric from my entry that I added as my member title for the month ("why don't you let me in?") proving to be apt </3 mind you probably needed to have cranked the volume up to even realise the song had lyrics hehe Lovely to get three medals among the small handful of votes I did get at least, thanks muchly to @Dobbo for the gold, @pavi for the silver and @jimwatts for the bronze, and also thank you to @HarryInnanen, @matto and @leww for the other points! As Rich alluded to this is the first time FSR Rontvia have ever been last in a semi-final oops! Obviously didn't love the song but I am quite surprised it did that poorly. Hendinia unsurprisingly take over the record for most entries without ever coming last in a semi-final (161), although they have come last in the final twice as have FSR Rontvia - Danæviia have the record for most entries without ever coming last in either a semi or a final, 147 as of last month and I'm sure Thy Catafalque will comfortably make it 148 (that very much deserves to be nearer the other end of the scoreboard). Commiserations to Vaskla not quite making it with their debut but very pleased that New Helvetica did make it, I like their entry a lot (reminds me a bit of Regina Spektor) but I did think it might struggle as I thought it might not be the most instant song. Yes I really wish people would get over the 'people went out and bought it' thing. If streaming existed back then they wouldn't have done so then either. It simply has not been relevant for a good 10 years now and never will be again barring some kind of post-apocalyptic society reset (although maybe that's more likely at this point than 'Mr. Brightside' ever going back to SCR etc.) If you're going to constantly complain about streaming-era songs breaking those records then you really ought to just stop following the charts entirely! (But anyway, obviously Sam Fender hasn't broken Bryan Adams' record regardless because that record was always explicitly for consecutive weeks so it has never been a relevant comparison to 'Rein Me In'). Anyway... excellent to see ANOTR finally going top 10 and top 5 at that, interesting to see how it holds up next week given the boost in the last couple of weeks does seem to have been at least tangentially tied to the football but it is still holding up very well on both Spotify and Apple so hoping it can stay top 5 if not climb even further. Also pleased that Bonnie Tyler did make the top 40 after all, I've never held the song in quite as high regard as most people do on here but it's still obviously an undeniable classic and a well earned tribute. Was listening to the chart show up to #16, fuming at 'Hey Jude' being skipped just to play 'Ordinary' (I'm not surprised they skipped it - much like they skipped every Halloween song that charted last year except for 'Thriller' because it was top 10 - but that was just straight trolling). Was finally my first time hearing the Alyssa Grace song (I still need to get caught up with the top 100 polls ), I did actually quite like her other low top 100 hit despite the vocals but they are definitely a bit much on this one oops! Also first time hearing 'Great Expectation' and it's another pretty good song from SIENNA.

Just occurred to me that 'Wonderwall' has now been held off #1 by a cover of 'I Believe' and then again 31 years later by the song that is about to match the weeks at #1 record of the original 'I Believe'. What are the odds x

I see - New Order must have a lot of video streams then I guess.

I am a bit perplexed at New Order not charting while Neil Diamond did, they're right next to each other on the streaming chart (79 & 80) and Neil was top 200 last week while New Order weren't so they surely definitely had enough of an increase and should have been charting around the same position. Maybe it's some free/paid streaming split shenanigans that I'm not big brained enough to be able to work out but it looks like an OCC oversight to me.

This has grown on me a bit but in absolutely no way does it deserve to have a higher UK peak than 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)' - have a feeling that will still be more enduring for future tournament hype anyway. It is good to see Shakira back in the top 10 after 17 years anyway, I'll just pretend it was the Bizarrap session that broke her duck instead x

Submitted - I was a bit disappointed with my result in the first Instrumentals Club Bizarre edition (poor brave Kuedo absolutely did not deserve to be bottom 10 x), I will definitely have lower expectations for myself this time. I did have a song I could use for this which would be my longest song contest entry ever but I'm thinking of sending it to the next BJSC. x
