Stupid question 2: Based on Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
So I am not getting the point of the special edition in this case. Surely they have been created to release after the standard edition, or at the same time - yes for people who want more tracks - but I always thought the main reason was to get multiple sales from fanbases desperate to have copies of all releases to generate inflated chart positions or extend chart runs.

Stupid question 1: Based on A Kylie Christmas
Thanks for the helpful and "smart" comments...but I still can't quite get my head around it. So, using hypothetical sales data to illustrate my confusion, say that this week: "Let it Snow" is a downloaded as a separate track from A Kylie Christmas 1,000,001 times this week. "A Kylie Christmas"is downloaded as a package 1,000,000 times this week. And "Santa Baby" is downloaded as a separate track from A Kylie Christmas 999,999 times this week (and not downloaded from other albums). Therefore, if no other individual tracks or packages from other acts sold more, would the top three look this this: 1. Let it Snow - Kylie 2. A Kylie Christmas - Kylie 3. Santa Baby - Kylie I drive a lot, hence I have plenty time to overthink but I am still interested to know how these sales stack up.

Stupid question 1: Based on A Kylie Christmas
Thank you - I get it and that makes sense. It's like Let it Snow is the "B side" - but if I had bought them separately both songs would have a sale towards the charts.

Stupid question 2: Based on Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
I bought Stronger by Kelly Clarkson - which is brilliant btw. I bought the special edition, but I wanted to know what extra's I was getting so I have rooted around for the normal edition and I can't find it anywhere to compare the track listing. Is there one and I am just being stupid or is it only the "special edition that's available? If so, is there some kind of chart benefit from having a special edition out first? I can't think of anything (except from a marketing angle), but I've not encountered this before as the other special editions I have bought have versions available with fewer tracks. End of stupid questions for today.

Stupid question 1: Based on A Kylie Christmas
I bought A Kylie Christmas last week which contains Santa Baby and Let it Snow. Then I noticed that Santa Baby had charted. So how does it work when you buy the "Kylie Christmas" as a package - does only Santa Baby become chart eligible? If that's the case would I have been better off buying them one at a time to help to help with the chart position of both songs?

What will be the biggest selling Christmas album of 2011?
If Take That release a single to radio and do some proper promo it could shift a few copies...but it won't outsell new studio albums.

Is the Xmas chart revealed on the 18th or 25th?
Ahhhh, but they now have a week to record an ALBUM and get the Xmas number one album - sales would be astronomical if they can pull it off (I think they can)!

Adele, 21 - I predict it will top 4m UK sales this year
Looking like a safe bet for 4 million, in fact, I'd say 5 million isn't out of the question by 31 Dec 2011!

Are the riots affecting sales?
Ahhhh.....but sales may increase due to the additional iPods, iPhones, stereos etc that are now in circulation  but really

Adele, 21 - I predict it will top 4m UK sales this year
I'll even stick my neck out and say it'll top 4m even without a reissue. I'm convinced it will be a huge Q4 seller. She's bound to get plenty X Factor plays and performances, she was at the LA auditions yesterday so she's part of that inner circle. Also, the momentum will continue, partly based on the fact she's British but also doing well worldwide. I don't love the album, but statistically, the sales trajectory is very intriguing.

Adele, 21 - I predict it will top 4m UK sales this year
To me, she's edgier and therefore hits the young end of the market in a way that the other two didn't. They were marketed in a safer way (some might say blander) and they had equally strong negative as positive reactions. I don't think Adele is having the same negative response, her success is being celebrated and she isn't being marketed as safe. Just my opinion.

Adele, 21 - I predict it will top 4m UK sales this year
It'll easily sell 1M in Nov - Dec and at the rate it's going, I think it will reach 3m by October, probably before then. It crosses over loads of markets in a way that James Blunt and Dido didn't. I'll try to remember to resurrect this at the end of the year!

New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 11 January
Not enough money in it. Makes the scrap during Sept - Dec all the better as acts fight for their commercial lives. Ist half year - new acs can become established. 2nd half - clear out the deadwood. There are exceptions but that's they general way it works IMO. And I love the charts from about Sept and by June/July you get to have an idea of what's coming. This year I think Kyle is releasing earlier in the year which I think is a good move for her. Lower sales on release but she will be able to hold her own in the Autumn album market if she releases the right singles.

US Billboard Top 200 Albums - 12/19/2009 - (with sales)
I wasn't sure so thanks for clarifying. I am still surprised the Mariah and Celine Christmas albums have sold so much. Makes the figures a bit redundant though if not complete.

US Billboard Top 200 Albums - 12/19/2009 - (with sales)
Has Mariah Caray Xmas and Celine Dion Special times really both sold over 5million in the States? That's almost as much as Thriller according to these figures!

Scott Mills to host xmas Rabbito One chart show
I don't mind him but think his show is just rubbish on weekdays. Not sure if he writes it or it's his creative team that suck.

The top 40 hits that never were!
Well, it seems I am older but Freeway of Love by Aretha Franklin and The Doctor by the Doobie Brothers (in the late 80's) always stick in my mind for this. Also. There's a Brand New World by Five Star should have been a hit. It was strange that their hits faded as their music improved.

Alesha Dixon Sales
One more single, then the tour with a re-issue and another single could take the album through Xmas 2009 sales and end up with a very respectable total indeed. Got to select better singles than LGE though.

Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 19th Dec 2008
Is the Eternal release Vernie, Easter and Kelle? No Louise I suspect. Or something entirely different and I look daft!
