  1. I think it'd be more organic if they were released same time as radio. iTunes & the record companies definately lose sales from holding off for 6 weeks. I can love love love a track, get it on my iPod illegally then by the time it's released I'm bored of it & sometimes don't buy it cos i never want to listen to it again. I really don't think it's a given that it would lead to stagnation in the charts.
  2. This is a really interesting issue. I'm genuinely torn in support of both opposing arguements.

Sorry if this gets asked loads but do you need a really old version of iTunes to get the popularity bars or can you add it into the latest version?

306,648 to be precise :-) I think it did 190K in it's 2nd week which was an unusually low reduction.
  5. It was #98 on iTunes earlier, then i refreshed a few minutes ago & it was #38, it's #34 now!! Edit - #27... Storming up the charts before most people will be out of bed!

should be #1, it'll probably graze the top 5 imho
  7. I know and she was only active for a whole year and almost sold as much as Kylie who was active July 2000 - July 2008 although she did have a break of over 2 year due to her cancer. Is there any write up to go with this pretty please? Thanks
  8. ElectroPop all the way please. Can't get you out of my head didn't lean to R&B and was successful in America. I don't think she really cares about mass appeal in the U.S. anyway, most of her hardcore fans there are gay or have gay sensibilities and I'm sure they don't want her to sound like everything else in the U.S. charts. She should just do her own thing and release what is best from those sessions. And please no "2 Hearts" as 1st single! Release something commercial that's representative of the album!
  9. And original songs!
  10. How do you differentiate physical weeks and download weeks? All of Lady GaGa's singles were physically released as far as I can see, sure the download would massively outsell them but chart weeks are combined (since 2005 or whatever). I know what you mean though getting off your bottom to go to a shop and pay £3.99 for a CD single with four tracks on it is more impressive than paying 79p for a download but back then it was pre-MP3 and there was no illegal downloading so it's swings and roundabouts if you ask me. I'm sure LOTS of people have an illegal GaGa song or 4 on their iPods - with Oasis you could tape the song off the radio or a friends CD single and that was it, even CD Burners weren't commonplace until around 1998-2000 (and even then some CD players didn't play copies) so if you wanted the song you HAD to go to the shop to buy it. Oh how times have changed, if you wanted a single that had been out of the charts for a few months back then you were buggered unless, like oasis, they were re-released or reissued by the record company now obviously we can cherry pick virtually every major song from the past 50 years! Hoorah!

I enjoyed the video but I doubt people will buy the song in huge numbers. Unless it's a Leon Jackson year it'll have to sell at least Half a million to beat the X Factor single. And I doubt The Muppets would get an X Factor slot in the week before Christmas!
  12. Someone on another site posted this today I think Lady Gaga may have broken another record this week. She has spent 135 weeks in the top 75 so far in 2009 - This beats the previous record set by Oasis, of 134 weeks in 1996. She has also spent a further 5 weeks in the top 75 as a featured artist with "Wale" with the song "Chillin", bringing her total to 140! With 6 top 75 entries this week she is sure to add to this total by the end of 2009.
