Hits that had part of its sales disqualified?
I thought it was because of the dealer price of the cassette, I have that in my head for some reason. I dream of Kylie being a new entry at #2 these days!

A 59p Chart
I used to think, at the height of CD Singles sales, that sales should be weighted on how much is paid for them. "Wannabe" was 99p in it's first week (debuted at #3 that week) & I think I bought Robbie Williams' "Freedom" for £1.99 for each CDS while other older hits were £2.99/£3.99 (I'd paid £4.49 for a CDS of a dance act & it had about 7 shit mixes on it). So I thought you could set the standard price at £2.99 which would count for 1 sale and if a record company was heavily discounting to get an act into the charts then 99p would count as 1/3 of a sale, £1.99 2/3s although anything over £2.99 would still count for 1 sale. In this day & age there'd be less impact if a 59p song counted as 0.6 of a sale, it might even the playing field though & stop older hits entering the Top 10 for 1 week & then disappearing until they're on X Factor/BGT/The voice again. Hardly any new releases are 79p never mind 59p. Does anyone know the reasons why record companies slash the price to 59p? I presumed it was for artists who were about to come back with new material to remind people of their biggest hits & to generate interest in their greatest hits Or possibly it sold that much back in the day that taking a reduced profit is of little consequence. Edit - I should read all entries before posting!

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 2nd June 2013
"Axis" is still number 2 in my "A List" playlist, behind Daft Punk's "Doin' it right". "Vocal" sounds a bit Nightlife-era (i.e Faithless wannabes) mixed with their "It's Alright" cover.

Sunday Chart Predictions
I'm a Kylie fan but Kylie had the benefit of the fictitious rivalry between her & Posh Beckham. It was hardly Blur Vs Oasis but it did get a lot of press coverage - Elton John throwing his two penneth in. Course Posh stumbled to #6 & Kylie sold 306k

Surely physical sales are bigger on a Saturday when a lot of people go shopping? What's the usual uplift?

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
I was a bit drunk but I think I was crying at the beauty of it. I believe that this is the "Bill & Ted" album that in the future everyone will live their lives by. Obviously in the future we will all be robots or cyborgs so it makes sense. ;) "Doin' it right" is my favourite track so far.

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Having heard the album a few times I'm totally in love with it. It's EVERYTHING! Well it pays homage to everything while being it's own thing. It made me cry last night it was that good! So well produced & every minute reveals a surprise. And having seen the reviews (average 89/100 on metacritic) I can't see it selling less than 200k. Even most people leaving comments on the streaming-rip on pirate bay were saying they've pre-ordered it or are gonna buy it the day it's out. Hoping for arctic monkey's debut sales!

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
It's #1 on iTunes through pre-orders, probably cos you can stream the whole album. I tried to stream it but it's not working for me. When has an album gone to #1 n iTunes on pre-order before? (actual question)

Which songs do you think could chart highly again?
I bought Dirrty a good few months ago @ 59p

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
I think a lot of ppl are talking about get lucky & most people don't buy singles, add to it the interviews and teasers and general press, so I think they album is gonna fly.

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
I think it'll clear 200k. Unchartered waters. Mind you, I thought Skyfall could sell 400k in 2 days.

Sunday Chart Predictions
I like her songs far more than her - she's just got ZERO star quality about her. Definitely talented, she should write a whole album for/with Kylie, it'd be such a good fit. I didn't know her album was out this week, hopefully when I go to iTunes now it'll be like £5.67 or something as I've bought all the "taster" singles from it... Edit - Should have been £6.99 but for me it was £6.00. The version of Shake is a different time to the single & Headphones isn't even on it! I think the other tracks I got free from her website but I've paid for them now!

Sunday Chart Predictions
I reckon DP should easily do 160-170k this week. I never usually predict but have crunched some numbers. Anyone know what the usual Saturday uplift is on the week?
