Just so I'm not being totally negative lol I'm delighted at Lana Del Rey being number one on the album chart. Managed to get a signed copy from her store seconds before it sold out :cheer:

Yeah I think you're probably right. I still follow the midweeks etc and buy a lot of current music, just can't stand the way the chart is now. I'm shocked at how amateurish it is and how many songs they're skipping :o I guess the declining listening figures they talked about years ago means there isn't really an audience for, or worth putting any effort into a three hour chart show :(

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread- 28th July 2017
Ok so I'm officially old! This is the first time I've listened to the chart show in about 10 years and I'm shocked! I only tuned in to see which Linkin Park songs charted and they're skipping past over half the songs, the DJ is terrible and slow while he thinks of things of things to say, and even the overly Welsh newsreader is annoying the sh#t out of me  Listening to the chart every Sunday was one of the highlights of my week years ago but I gave up on it when they started mucking around with the format and all the downloads and streaming made it uninteresting. Be interesting to see if any listeners from the Sunday top 40 days agree or if I am indeed just getting old! Bring back Mark Goodier :cheer:

Could you tell me where Queen Forever is on the chart please? Also if Queen happen to appear anywhere else. Thanks! :)

Sunday Chart Predictions (Friday Update)
WOW! Didn't expect the fantastic Levellers to trouble the album chart at all this week. Hopefully they'll manage to cling onto a top 40 place by Sunday :)

Sunday Chart Predictions (Friday Update + Sales)
Should this thread not be renamed The Sarurdays prediction thread? Anyway I'm going to change it up a bit. I was hoping to see the fantastic Gaslight Anthem get a number one album but looks like number two is the best they'll manage again. Hopefully Twin Atlantic will hang onto a top 40 position. In my opinion they're another very underrated group.

Yeah I think the Manics were pretty big at that time too so perhaps it would've been a big hit! :)

Sunday Chart Predictions
Thank goodness George Michael looks certain to be number one. At the risk of getting lynched I never have nor ever will understand the fascination for Kylie Minogue. Not having a dig, just not my cup of tea at all. The only song of hers I truly liked was 'Some Kind Of Bliss' which funnily enough was one if her lowest charting singles and isn't very popular by all accounts lol.

The current state of the UK charts
I listened to every UK Top 40 from the early ninties to mid 2000's. I used to look forward to each chart and enjoy listening to it but now I hardly ever isten to it, simply becuase I don't like 75% of the songs in it. I like good melodic rock /guitar based music, and while I can enjoy a lot of the current groups nowadays I just find most of the current songs in the chart aren't my cup of tea. I don't see the point of listening for three hours to a chart when I don't enjoy most of it and I can just stick an album I like on. Having said that, single sales would appear to reflect sales are up from the mid-late 2000's so downloads have obviously had a positive sales effect. I just don't really enjoy the UK Top 40 anymore. :(

Queen's Greatest Hits passes 6 million!
Have to respectfully disagree with you there. Made In Heaven, Queen, A Night At The Opera, Sheer Heart Attack, The Miracle, The Works and The Game are all outstanding in my opinion. The so called 'music experts' never gave Queen any good reviews. Just look at quotes from current successful artists and you'll see how highly rated Queen's albums were.

Surprised to see Sophie holding up so well! Any news on where Mike + The Mechanics Singles set is on its second week?

Sunday Chart Predictions
I thought 'Big When I Was Little' was such a poor comeback single for Eliza (it kinda made me think of Lily Allen), and that, coupled with her being away for quite a while has resulted in the flop album. Which is a shame as I've listened to it a few times and think there are some really great tracks on there and it's a very strong album.
