  1. I finally have sometime to write my thoughts about this album now I've listened to the real album (of my very own coppy of TTC :dancing:) quality rather than the poor quality youtube clips. Be A Boy - The chorus (and the bridge) is ace. Verses are not bad as well. Lyrically it is what you would expect Robbie to write about: himself  . The music is nice and the backing vocals scream U2. 9/10 Gospel - The verses are stronger than the chorus (which is also bizzare lyrically). That's it, I like the verses but not the chorus. 7/10 Candy - I've already said to much about this one. Hugely successful choice to target people outside his fanbase but the rest of us will somehow hate it. I enjoy his humour and irony but 'less is more' sometimes and there is too much of it in this song. If you combine it with the plaground singing and tune it is infectious yet slightly embarassing. Served its purpose as lead single but 4/10 Different - A classic Robbie song with a U2 feel and a pop addition at the second half of the chorus. It is a very strong song (especially for the radio). My only complaint is that at parts he 'filled the blanks' with some not so cool lyrics. (for example 'please god make it so'). I would prefer this one a bit more crude than sentimental. Music is a highlight here as well. 9/10 S**t On The Radio - Fun at first, but too repetitive around the chorus in an annoying (and embarassing way). The humour here at good proportions but honestly the best part is "I know you know when we'll get together, love you like a hurricane". That's because we all love the Escapology Robbie and not the Mika-like uh-uh pop bridges! I dislike the pop side of this song for sure. If it was a bit more LMEY I wouldn't mind all the s**t. 5/10 All That I Want - Musically the weakest of the album imo. This song does not stand out in any way. Ok lyrics but bland. Would have prefered something edgier since it is Robbie we are talking about. 4/10 Hunting For You - I like the start of the song and the chorus but the uh-uh is really too loud and disturbing. MAKE IT CRUDE IDIOT this is too pop for no reason! Has some very good lyrics here and there. I think I like this song, 8/10 Into The Silence - I love almost everything about this one: Lyrics, music, singing. And the chorus is really alternative, would stand out of the commercial stuff around nowadays (s**t on the radio :P) . I have not given up hope he will finally release this as a single, he enjoys drama! Could say a lot about this song but less is more (once again): 10/10 Hey Wow Yeah Yeah - Tried to do a 2013 LMEY perhaps? Missed anyway... Unbearable lyrics (not common for a Robbie song). It should sound entertaining in a big live show but it is not suitable for any other occasion imo. Only plus, though slighly irrelevant to the song, it I like Robbies low synth-voice (also see Happy Now verses). 4/10 (which could as well be a 2/10 if we count out live shows) Not Like The Others - I like the rythm and I partly like the lyrics but there is something about it that irritates me. Just good 6/10 Losers (feat. Lissie) - Interesting lyrically (and of course fitting Robbie) but I feel this one is either underproduced or not sung good enough at parts. Other than that it is a very good song. Builds up after the first half. 9/10 Reverse - I love how the chorus builds and the finale (of the chorus) is grand. It also has a very strong oppening and closing. All around good song. 8.5/10 Eight Letters - It sounds more sentimental and sincere when sung by Robbie that's for sure. I realised it actually is a very warm ballad after all :o ! But what the f**k happened to the producer? At parts Robbie is off tune or does not hit the nigh notes fully... why didn't they re-record these parts? And where is the music? I can almost hear Robbie squeaking at parts ... This could have been a masterpiece ballad but because of all these flaws (definitely unnecessary) it is not 8/10 All things considered it is not much like Escapology (like Robbie claimed) but it bears some resemblence at parts. It sounds like the producers didn't do a clean job everywhere... I also sense some lack of direction throughout this album (or some confusion at least). There has been a considerable attempt to make music like that of his golden era but he somehow wouldn't let go of some glossy (and totally unnecessary) pop details. Other than that it is a strong album and a good sign that he has (at least partially) realised what kind of songs fans want him to write. I would love to see some worthy collaborations in his future work like Dogs and Birds or Long Walk Home but I understand they wouldn't fit the concept of this album (in terms of coherence). It is not as good as the 'sunswept-rodeo' Escapology but I would give an 8+ for this album totally. Weiter so! ;)
  2. I wouldn't call 8 likes a fast start  I doubt such groups get much support anyway. If you manage 4 digits I will like it though :D

I doubt anyone believed they could beat Robbie but they are definitely doing worse than expected for now... (considering Calvin/Emeli could be no2/3 with even less that 35k sales) What a bad year for XF :o  I am starting to feel 1D will follow the same pattern  and even possibly Little Wings (to some extend)
  4. Maybe MW will give us some of his up-to-date sales in their report after he gets to no1 this week. ;)
  5. A very special tune for the chorus in this one (definitely reminds me of sth classic I cannot find right now as well). It builds nice during the verses and the chorus is an updated version Lazy Days. It is a hugely radio-friendy song all over. It is a Robbie signature song otherwise (good old Robbie) but it does hove some pop elements (2nd half of the chorus) that remind me of how Gary writes as well. I like this song but it will be very optimistic to predict anything higher than low top10. Robbie is an album seller so if the single is succesful it should push album sales instead. :winner:
  6. Did the sailor man have a drum belly as well? Lets hope Robbie does not get addicted to gym suplements now. The good thing is he does not look that much of gym-buffy but also kind of eating well-buffy for now so I expect he doesn't take a bunch of pills.
  7. Spinach? He needs to lose some weight soon imo <_<
  8. Currently on itunes UK #3 (should be no1 sometime soon) Germany #9 Austria #8 Luxemburg #7 Italy #3 Netherlands #9 Swizerland #12 I wonder if he has any promo lined up outside the UK. The acoustic version of candy is horrible  Different sound good though. :cheer:
  9. :o Looks like he will get to no1 even before the XF performance. Either the sales of the top are going to be lower this week or he is selling hot
  10. It is the most special song o this album (although not the catchiest). Has some surprisingly good lyrics in it :) Plus, it is a nice Christmas tune and becomes very powerful towards the end. I do not care if it charts well, I love everything about it and I believe these kind of songs will always be closer to what Leona is as an artist in contrast to outta my head etc. And of course this is what I like about her as well. My guess is they didn't want Glassheart to be 1st or 2nd single because it would be difficult to stage it on XF without Leona doing some spectacular dancing but she is not the dancer-kind.. I could be 3rd single instead (XF will be over by then) so that she wont have to do any apperances in big stages where people would expect a 'Where have you been' dance.
  11. But if you never liked her how can you tell the difference? ^_^ WANGBT is her worst single yet imo, switching from cheap, (I am so over it pose) to ridiculous, to twisted (the animal thing :puke2: ) so my opinion has to be unpopular too. I do not get the 'hatred' though, it is fine to worship every cheap pop, hip hot(/p), urban junk coming from overseas but somehow TS is too american?
  12. I think it was about time.. she was ridiculously neglected here. :)
  13. Goldfinger (despite the terrible movie)
  14. It is more of 'Run' style though, something like Leona's 'Angels'. People usually fall for that around Christmas  And the last third of the song will sound good live. It has some potential imo (bigger than Trouble).
  15. I hope he does something like this in the XF UK :teresa: That would explain why he is stuck at no1 at the italian itunes since the last few days though. ;) (check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_IHoPobca4)
  16. One of my favourite tracks on Glassheart and an obvious choice for Christmas but ballad after ballad releases from an album not full of ballads (a fact most people do not even know) is bad marketing. If Glassheart had been the 1st single everything would fit in better now... Fireflies is definitely not the kind of song you would expect to kill in the charts, but I do not care, :P I like it! As far as radio-play is concerned I think it could do well, it is radio friendy.
  17. I wish Calvin/Florence would stay at no1 for a second week. SHM, Wonder and Hottest girl are all dreadful imo. With wonder being the most dissapointing of the 3 considering I loved Emeli's album (even Daddy).

I seriously doubt that. In the low sales climate a boost of 10k or so from the XF was enough to catapult her into the top, that's all. I expect she should be out of the top 20(40) by Christmas. I am wondering how far can Taylor go with this album though, looks like the perfect timing for her in the UK.
  19. Candy itunes (current) all No4 Germany No5 Austria No5 Luxenbourg No10 Netherlands pop no10 France no10 Finland no7 Spain no7 Swizerland Looks like Robbie could get a top 5 hit in most of these countries during the next few weeks.
  20. How worse can it get? Why not rename the album after the first word the baby speaks? Hopefully the baby will have a more balanced and educated influence than Robbie growing up... I'd hate to see her ending up with as much iq and ability as 'Dora the explorer' <_< Seriously now, I would love to see this tatto. It will most probably look like a bunch of worms curled up together
  21. :o Leaked? Damn I am superbusy for now to listen to it  I will give it a listen on Saturady though. (not reading through anyones reviews yet :P spoilers)
  22. Disapointing sales for Glassheart. I would have expected something in the range of 75-105k not 30k :( :o Nothing is lost yet in terms of sales (if the next single does well) but I doubt she will stand a chance to return to no1 if she doesn't do this today really. Much heavier competition coming up later this month. And after the festive period it will be time for the alternative/indie releases... I really hope she could somehow snatch the no1 this week. It is such a same that glassheart cannot have a week at the top of the charts on a year without rain (so far) for music. Appart from an Adelle streak followed by the satisfying success of Our Version of Events (I love it) there has been too little to see in the album charts lately.
  23. Surprisingly enough (or not) Candy is doing great at both radio play and pre-orders everywhere in the UK. It looks like it could get to no1 even without the XF, I imagine he'll have the no1 wrapped up after the XF anyway. Personally I find this song 'just fun'... I hope the album features much better tracks, we do not need an album full of Candy! On the other hand (in terms of promo) it is a song obviously targeted at non-fans and it does well at this group so far... They should choose the next single to be a more satisfying one for fans of the 'Golden Days'-Robbie' though. I wouldn't blame R1 for snubbing this song, it is an 'immature' song from a fully mature (compared always to how far robbie could go in terms of maturitiy) and successful artist.
  24. Any news yet for the next album/single of Florence and the Machine?

I get the feeling that her promo for Speak Now was more intensive than RED but her recent releases of Red have super-charted there (possibly much better than most of them deserved) so she is definitely in perfect shape. It is Taylor Swift in the US so I would say yes. (shouldn't be too far from the million mark anyway)
